Lana knocked on the Duchess's door, and a voice called from inside.
"Come in."
Obliging, Lana turned the doorknob and stepped into the room. The Duchess sat in a throne-like chair, her right leg propped on a small gold-plated stool, leisurely biting into an apple. The split in her gown revealed a smooth stretch of skin on her thigh. She exuded the air of a villain, her aura wild with a surge of Mana.
At the second level of Master magic, she was a force to be reckoned with. In truth, though her husband was the Duke and head of the Hunter family, it was Amelin who controlled the household. When she first married Devlin Hunter, Amelin had been displeased by the way her husband was treated. He excelled in business and official matters but lacked any magical ability. Determined, she quietly pulled the strings, maneuvering her family into the position they now held.
Lana gave a deep bow before taking a seat across from Amelin.
