It's already afternoon, the scheduled time for Myra and I to duel. I get up from bed, dress quickly, and head for the door, stepping out of the room.
A moment later, I make my way to the field where Alvida and I usually hold our magic lessons. It's the only logical place for the duel since we don't have a training room yet. That room is still under construction, a gift I wished for on my eighteenth birthday. Unfortunately, I won't get to use it before I leave for the academy.
'Well… there's always the holidays.'
As I reach the field, I notice a crowd has already gathered. What catches my eye first is a small tent set up at the farthest corner of the field. Walking toward it, I realize my mother and a few high-ranking nobles are seated beneath it, along with Alvida, Lana, and Myra. Despite its modest size, the tent is extravagantly adorned, as if it's hosting some grand event.
I shake my head inwardly.
