"He called me directly but the emergency went out to everyone, so I wasn't even the first one to him." Jozette's voice wasn't anything like the day before. She was furious, but scared now. Kaori realized she didn't get the alert because her Sable wasn't on.
"Henry, or Wim, is our culprit, though?" Jesse was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, and one foot against it. "Why would he want his own leg cut off?"
Elias only shrugged, but before he could talk, Jozette butted in first. "Elias needs rest, we can talk about this another time."
The doctor tried to reassure his girlfriend that he was capable of talking about it, but she insisted otherwise, adding that Kaori and Jesse should leave and figure out more from someone else.
It wasn't that the mechanitech didn't want to catch the terrorist that almost killed the doctor, but she knew he needed to focus of making sure he was better before straining and stressing himself any more.
As Jesse hastily exited, Kaori hot on his heels, he began to talk to himself softly, communicating into his own Sable. She could hear him asking the other person where they were and if they were available to meet.
Which they apparently were since she could hear the cowboy excitedly say goodbye and pick up his pace.
Upon entering one of the several elevators, Kaori finally began to question him since it was only the two of them in it as it headed to the floor of the captain.
"What's going to happen?" Kaori asked as they neared the floor.
"You are I are going to go on a few expeditions."
Kaori didn't hear him right. "What?"
"You and I," he began again slowly, a sly grin on his face, "are going to kick some ass and take some names."
Before she could ask any more, the door slid open and he immediately took back off into a near sprint as he headed towards the cockpit; nearly knocking down a few innocent workers in the meantime.
And Kaori followed; running to keep up.
Jesse typed in his code on the door causing it to open the instant he wanted, and both him and the princess slipped inside before closing it behind them.
"I knew you'd be back!" A familiar, scary voice boomed from below. Kaori wasn't sure if Nikita was mad or not, but she was hoping with Jesse present it would lessen a possible punishment.
Jesse finally stopped completely, turning back at Kaori. "What'd you do?" Kaori could only shake her head from side to side.
"Nikita!" Jesse hollered out, raising his arms like he was expecting a hug.
The tall captain ignored him, simply shoving him out of her way as she headed straight for Kaori upon emerging from her Captain's Quarters.
"You are an invalid citizen aboard my ship!" Nikita finally spoke, stopping a few feet from Kaori while bringing out a pair of handcuffs. "You may be in the body of our princess, but you are not her. You must identify yourself, or face imprisonment."
Kaori looked around her at Jesse, who only gave her a slight nod to tell her she needed to comply.
"Enzo may be able to delay it, but he can't change my procedures. No one can change the way I run my ship without enough evidence it wouldn't create a safety risk." Nikita didn't bother to look for Jesse's approval.
Jesse began to reassure Kaori, "it's simply creating your citizenship."
She then looked up at the intimidating Captain, "so, I won't die then?"
One of Nikita's brows twitched, "die?" she repeated softly, before raising her voice as she tried to contain her laughter. "You thought you could die!?" Kaori's face turned red with embarrassment, but quickly straightened up when Nikita suddenly stopped laughing. "I only believe in imprisonment. Though, the bad ones are the first to die if needed."
Jesse took the opportunity to interrupt, "I'm going to go talk to Enzo, you do your paperwork." The cowboy didn't give Kaori anytime to react, he hastily took off, back into his near sprint as he made his way to the large window where Enzo was watching from afar.
Nikita then led the princess to another room just outside of the cockpit; one of several meeting rooms.
It wasn't much, containing only a long oval table in the center of the carpeted room, with 22 leather, high back swivel chairs circling it.
After closing the door, she sat at in the chair closes to the exit, and told Kaori to sit in the one to her right.
"I am going to record everything with my sable," Nikita informed Kaori as the princess attempted to get herself comfortable, while she nodded to agree to the terms and conditions of the forced interview.
The moment the white-haired woman's butt stopped moving, the Captain began to question her. "What is your name?"
"Kaori Amano."
"Age?"
"20."
"Birthplace and year?"
"New York City. 2004"
"Job?"
"I play video games." Kaori felt as if Nikita wouldn't know what she was talking about if she said streamer.
The captain paused for a moment, leaning back in her chair, still confused but continued on. "When did you die?"
"2024. Yesterday."
"Do you speak with Persephone?"
"Yes, but-"
"Then you will go to The Pacific. There is another one of Persephone's reincarnations there, and they are working to help us. They can help you understand more of what you're going through; as they have already seemed to have gotten quite far with the goddess."
"Another reincarnation? Are they failed as well?"
"No," Nikitia smiled, "he is a very smart man and wants to cure the world. He's just too afraid to."
Kaori leaned forward, "afraid to help the world?"
The captain only nodded, "he is not a fighter like you are, which is why you may be able to benefit from talking to him. He's more than valuable to us, so he is permanently residing on The Pacific."
Kaori realized she didn't have a choice but to agree, and that everything was far from being a suggestion, but a command.
She wasn't a fighter though, so, at first, she was a bit hesitant, but upon being informed she could take a small crew with her, she cheered up.
She already knew who she was going to be taking with her.
