Chapter 3 - Better than Dying

Just few meter for his figure to be swallow by this wormhole just like those before him, a powerful force inert in him, pulling his figure away from the pit and into a shadowy portal

Davis felt his sense spin reckless before finally returning to normal, allowing him to recollect himself. and just like with the sudden appearance in that divine space

he finds himself in another space, a realm shrouded in shadows and mystery. A Muscular and powerful figure, with a broad build Appearing to be in his early twenties sat before him.

He wore dark, practical yet regal clothing that allows freedom of movement. Strong, masculine features with a hint of wildness, a strong jawline, and a determined expression.

Deeps set of sharp, piercing blue eyes that seem to hold a hidden depth and intelligence. Long, dark hair that falls over his shoulders in messy waves. having a slight silver streak that runs through it.

He sat there in silent contemplation. His form exuded a sense of power and ancient knowledge.

Seeing this figure, Davis rage surge within him, "not another of you, I've gotten quiet a good share of this nonsense. why don't you just send me back and we all pretend nothing ever happened

If that stunt you pulled is to make me change my mind, I'll say it worked perfectly because now I know the kind of bullshitting you've been talking about

I'm glad I never fall for it, now quit wasting time playing trick an send me back, I don't care if you change appearance or this place just intimidate me

I'm not going to any fantasy world of yours periods" Davis state his mind disregarding if the figure before him is a god or not

"calm your horse kid, I know how you feel" the figure spoke, his voice surprising soft but weightful.

"I can tell first hand what it feels to be betrayed, especially by one you least expected it from" his eyes sees to reminisce the past as he spoke

he shifted his body to slush into his throne like chair while the entire realm around him light up boring the marks of an imprisonment seal that went as far as the eyes could see and is intertwined to the throne itself

this is nothing more that a place of confinement and isolation. Dark energies crackled in the air with each movement this figure makes, a testament to his formidable presence and the depth of his power.

"I'm Eonathos, what your people would call a god, an imprisoned one anyway" Eonathos spoke, his gaze fixed on a distant point with his mind consumed by the thoughts of revenge and liberation.

"From all indication you've met my sister" Davis eyes almost fell of when he heard this, there is no way this too is related right

he asked himself a his head buzz from the sudden drop of new information, he looked as Eonathos once more, scanning his features closely only then did he see a bit of resemblance

"wait a minute, that b*tch is your sister, sorry for my manner but that's what she is to me" Davis didn't mind speaking his kind and it looks like Eonathos didn't mind either

"you are quiet the bold one, calling my sister b*tch in front of me without a care. aren't you afraid I might kill you?"

"if it was before I get tossed into that strange space, I would have but now...." he paused in thought as he reminisce every he recalled in that space, reliving them over and over again

just that few moment looks like eternity repeating itself, those yelling and roaring were sign of him almost loosing his mind. he only stayed sane due to one thought in mind, "revenge and survived"

"you don't have to say, I already know what you went through at the portal to the realm of Limbo. a realm for those who can't pass to the circle of reincarnation or the afterlife of peace

its made for those condemned to suffer through reliving their life over and over again through all the terrible and horrible ting they have done or have experienced"

Davis feet lost their old as he fell hearing where he has been sent to by that smiling face goddess, "how evil?"

"evil indeed, if I hadn't felt your determination to live and hatred for her, you would have been condemn for all eternity as I wouldn't be able to bring out once you are in"

Davis kissed his lips angrily, luckily for him, he was saved early enough an this brings him to the question why

"quick wit I see" Eonathos remarked as if he could read Davis thoughts, "just as you've thought, there is nothing lie free meal in this world

something has to be giving for something, no matter how minute it is, other times what we feel is free has already being paid for by someone else or so"

Davis agrees, there is always a price for everything. his curiosity now is what the price of been saved is

"oh, you don't have to worry about the price if been saved, that's in the house" Eonathos beem him a casual smile, "what I'm more concern o I what price you are willing to pay to say alive?"

Davis eyes widened when realization done on him, its seem he isn't truly saved. his actions and choice would determined that for him

he frown, his expression serious as his gaze. "what do you want in returning for saving me"

Eonathos laughing rhetorically seeing Davis expression but soon calmed down noticing the serious weird look Davis was giving him.

"I don't want much, I just want to send you to a world of my own just like my sister did. all you have to do is keep the order In that world I my stead

you can see I'm imprisoned here and can't leave, that world most have turned into chaos from the last time I saw it"

"and if I refused?"

Eonathos didn't reply but his gaze alone spoke volume than words, painting a clear picture of his personality to Davis. stating he can be ruthless when necessary.

still he possesses a deep sense and air of justice which made Davis comfortable around him other than Aurora facade of smile and gentleness

"Good, seems like you know the right choice to make. you don't have to worry though, just like my sister I'll give you power to help you carry out the task"

Davis didn't bother reacting nor having inappropriate thoughts as it obvious this being could read his mind

"I'll also let you know I have other envoys in this world I'm sending you to but you are special in a way you aren't just going to be one of my envoy as usual by also my champion and chosen one"

"is there a reason for that, and also what's the difference in just making me and envoy or a champion than making me both and a chosen one at the same time"

Eonathos chuckles as he relaxed more into his sit which in turn light the seal runes once again. "this is the reason I find you intriguing, seeing the reason you refused the offer of a god make me ponder over the things I know about humans to an extent

I honestly wanted to believed the lie you told yourself was the reason you wanted to go back, what is it again

ahh, I recall, going back to prove fate wrong is it. a lie you use to convince yourself you aren't going to settle for anything less that the top position

seeing that it has been forcefully given to another without a fighting chance, you decided to go back

return to a world you can fight your way through to the top, defying all odd, I'm I right?"

Davis sighed, seems like he really can't hid anything from this guys sight for it was indeed as he had said it. he couldn't stand the thought of being second best when there is a fighting chance

but if there is none, why dash your head against a rock when you can simply retreat and forge your own path, probEonathos e a come back.

"then you're asking why I made my choice when its obvious if I tell you I'm making your a second best in that world, you would refuse my offer

choosing to rather die than take a second grade rank" his eyes bore into Davis soul

Davis scratch the back of his head helplessly, he sure would take that option truly if things come to that

Eonathos nodded mentally, "to be frank with you, I'm sending you their as my pseudo also. in simple term you are going to be me or a lesser version of myself"

Davis took a step back, this offer is becoming too ambiguous. making him skeptical about accepting it

"you don't have to worry, I'm not doing all this for free. you would owe me a favour I'll come for on a later time, for now just go leave your dreams"

Davis thought of refusing, owing such powerful figure a debt is not something he would want to indulge in but then again, isn't this better than dying
