Chapter 36 - Stranger Things: Beware Of The Sky

If you ask Jidenna if he believes even a little bit of what Li Wei said he will tell you, 'even horses lie better than Li Wei' even if horses do not lie.

So their conversation ended like that with one grinding his teeth in anger and calmly carrying out mundane activities, a direct reversal from yesternight.

After that incident the days flew by and very soon it was the end of the second week since university started.

Jidenna carried out his day to day activities calmly without any impatience

Except for the increasingly annoying sticky chewing gum called Li Wei.

Whose lips spat out series upon series of yin yang words whenever they met in the morning but his personality would suddenly take a flip in the evening speaking with a voice overflowing with care.

Jidenna's lips twitched in irritation, 'does he think I'm a masochist'

To avoid this pain-in-the-foot roommate, Jidenna began leaving early and coming back late when he knew he wouldn't run into Li Wei.

But apart from his abnormal roommate the second strange situation Jidenna encountered during the past days was—

'Crash'

Jidenna's gaze was drawn to the smashed flower vase on the ground.

He looked up, tracing its path to a pavement up ahead.

His luck had become increasingly poor during this period for some unknown reasons.

He wakes up tired no matter how much he had slept the night before as though he was drained of something.

Even his visit to the nurse's office was in vain because she discovered nothing wrong with his body.

It was becoming a common place for these unlucky incidents to take place. If it happened before Jidenna would not mind but it only began when he came here and started schooling.

Jidenna rounded the vase and continued the journey.

He had almost gotten some unpleasant things written down in his file because of his tardiness which many professors found unpleasant.

Surprisingly the only thing that saved him was his equally pale complexion. Many had assumed he was sick— which he wasn't. It's not like Jidenna will explain it to them anyway as it worked in his favour.

Jidenna did not have a love for deliberately coming late in fact he abhorred it but because of his recent bad luck inexplicable things always happened on the way

Either the car broke down or the tire was punctured by a smooth pebble and needed to be changed or the shower suddenly stopped working while his roommate's shower will still be working perfectly fine.

The worst was when he almost burnt down the kitchen because of a gas leak and Jidenna could swear that it has always been properly locked.

He couldn't share the responsibility with Li Wei because in their dormitory he was the only person who used the gas.

Now as of this week, objects suddenly began dropping from the sky thankfully so far none of them have landed on him.

Adding everything together it was one tough week for Jidenna and it was wearing down on him mentally.

In his faculty's bathroom, Jidenna splashed water on his face trying to wake his sleepy self up.

With the tissue he patted his face dry ignoring the heavy dark eye circles that were prominent even against his dark skin.

He sighed in exhaustion.

But Jidenna was proud of the fact that even with everything he did not allow this to stop him from dutifully attending lectures no matter how late he was.

Jidenna dragged his body back to his dorm with his shoulders slightly slouched . Jidenna felt like a mountain was dropped on his back.

His legs were as heavy as lead and his eyes like sand were rubbed inside on his way back he had forgotten his rules of "maintaining dignity with proper posture" outside with his haggard look nearly pressing down a yawn with each step.

Even the normal cheerful and warm sun felt piercing and harsh as it bore down on his sweat soaked back.

Usually he would take a ride back to his dorm but one look at his fast draining wallet was enough for Jidenna to caution his spending.

Leaving it for only the most important things like buying foodstuffs.

Slamming open the door he made his way to his room once again ignoring everything else, even his roommate who had unexpectedly arrived early today and sat in the living room.

Banging the door behind him the thing he heard was the tearing of material, the thudding of books and a suspicious sudden lightness on his back.

His tired eyes moved like a zombie to the source of the issue then let out a frustrated groan when he realised all his books lay scattered on the floor.

He gave another exhausted sigh, "The 6th bag, this is the sixth bag this week." He moaned

"It was my favourite" he whispered, bending down to pick them but whenever he picked one book up the other already in his grip would drop back to the floor.

He scrambling for the books but it kept on slipping from his grasp like it was mocking him

'Arggh' Jidenna let out a scream filled with frustration stranding up he scattered everything he could see sending them tumbling down to the floor before he followed them.

His knees gave out on him crumpling to the tiles.

His breath came out in ragged gasps he bit down on his lips locking in the boiling frustration raging inside.

Meanwhile in the living room Li Wei's eyes flashed and his lips curled into a victorious smirk when he heard the commotion inside.

Expecting the familiar notification soon after that he had become used to, [Ding! You have siphoned +80 luck from your roommate]

Followed by a squeaking voice that said, "weldone host very soon the task will be completed"

Li Wei frowned, massaged his forehead then cautioned the system, 'I told you to not speak to me with that squeaky voice of yours. It gives me a headache"

At his words the system shut up obediently retreating to the recess of his mind.

It wouldn't do it any good if it angers its host.

Once Li Wei Could no longer hear the system's voice fished out a hand mirror from his pocket admiring his improved face and at the same time nitpicking places he was dissatisfied with.
