As if on cue, the sky opened to a light rain as if mourning the dead, in the middle of this, a bald man in his early thirties with a tall build, donned in a black suit, stood still in the light rain, he gazed upwards, he had a strong angular jawline with a stern expression.
A boy in his preteens walked toward him, the boy was also in a black suit, he wore round spectacles, and he stood beside him glancing upwards too, he had tousled brown hair that curled slightly at the ends, often falling into his bright, curious blue eyes that continued gazing upward as the light rain pelted both of them, standing at about 4 feet 8 inches tall, his cheeks was slightly red with a hint of baby fat still clinging to his cheeks.
"Child, an icon is gone..., A man of unparalleled knowledge," The bald man said, his voice monotone, yet soft as if there was a hidden emotion behind it. "His position will ever be empty no matter who claims it"
"Yes, Dr. Connor, the maestro of minds, the sole developer of the E1 jab, bringing werewolves to their doom, he left his mark," the boy said and raised a hand in salutation, his voice was subtle and polished.
"You are sharp for your age, boy, I felt at ease that someone like you is The Hunters' future," the man said while they both continued gazing at the cloudy and rainy sky.
"I may not look it but I'm well versed in the first twenty thousand chapters of Hunters Journal," the boy said.
"That's impressive for someone of your age, which clan are you, boy?" The bald man asked, the rain, a light pelters to their bodies. The winds were whistling around the cemetery which is almost devoid of people.
With this question, the boy gazed downwards and grinned darkly before he answered.
"I'm from the Moonfang Clan Sir" he replied softly.
"It's a pity you are not from Silverleaf, I would have assigned you to his position, it's now empty," the bald man said and heaved a sigh, his chest moved slightly due to his muscular build. "And I dislike his current apprentice, he has an ominous air around him, as you can see, he didn't even come today"
"You meant Dr. Kallen?" The brown-haired boy asked, his index finger shifting his spectacles—which had now had rain droplets on them— up the edge of his nose.
"Yeah, it seems he is jealous of his master, and he won't be able to reach his level, Dr Connor's knowledge is unparalleled" the bald man spoke slightly breathy. "Even I have something I'm doing secretly that is against my profession, who am I to blame him"
"Would you like to tell me?" The boy asked subtly.
"I think I will pass, what I'm saying is that nobody is a saint," The bald man said, his voice carrying a hint of impatience. "But anything you do, kid, always let the good outweigh the evil" he concluded, his voice stern yet caring as if he was relaying from experience.
"I plan to rid this world of all evil, Sir" the boy replied, his tone slightly raised. The light rain seemed to stop as he finished the words, and the sky started clearing of thick clouds. Blue sky peeking out slowly.
Suddenly the bald man burst into laughter,
"That is quite a big dream," he said. "I hope I live to see it".
The boy gazed downwards and grinned darkly again, with one swift movement, he placed his palm lightly on the man's back.
"We will see about that," he said, his tone dark and subtle.
Sensing this change of tone, the man's face contorted in a puzzle, he jumped backward a few meters, a milliseconds after he noticed the boy's tone. A squelchy thud resonated through the freshly rain-soaked grasses as he jumped backward.
"Who are you!" He bellowed. "This bloodlust, how come I didn't notice since all this while!"
He looked astonished.
"Too late," the boy said subtly, pronouncing the words syllabically and slowly.
"Personality Overwrite!!" The boy yelled.
At once the bald man's bright black pupil color dim, he had a stern expression which had now changed to a blank one as if under hypnosis.
"I don't have all day, it will soon fade away, so answer all my questions, who is the child placed in your care?" The boy asked like an interviewer, his childlike face now stern like a hardened warrior's.
"Why do you want to know?" The bald man stood still and said with a strained voice as if he were fighting an inner mind battle.
"Martins Sinclair..." The boy snarled slowly, "tsk!, I don't have much time" he said glancing at his smartwatch "Don't answer a question with a question, I'm surprised you still have such an amount of willpower, as expected of The Hunter's president"
"Who are you?, You even know my full name which no one knows, do you perhaps know about the lost Era?" The bald man asked chokingly as if something was choking his neck, the veins of his head already popping out visibly.
"Don't fight it, you will end up running insane!" The boy shouted at him desperately with a scowl. "I will ask you again, who is placed in your care, state his name, the school he will attend, I meant High school, and where he is living" the boy concluded.
The bald man then relaxed himself, perhaps he didn't want to run insane.
"He is Luca Moonfire, he attends Light realm academy, he will attend Golden Ridge High school, he lived at 13, Crescent Moon Lane, Timberwood Town, Eldoria City, Terragon, The Epic States of Pelagris" the bald man concluded, his voice slow and steady as if reciting something from a book, his expression blank, his eye pupils color dim.
"Thank you," the boy said and walked slowly towards him, the sky was now bright as the chirping of insects and birds could be heard around.
"One last thing to be done," he said as he placed his right palm on his back.
"Memory cut; Erase everything related to Luca" he commanded. The bald man closed his eyes.
After some time he opened it back, his eyes color returned and his body relaxed. He looked around puzzlingly and his gaze fell on the boy.
"Child, The funeral is obviously over, are you lost?" He asked, a hint of concern in his voice.
"No Sir" the boy shouted and saluted, "I'm on my way home".
"Let's go then," the bald man said and they both left the cemetery.
