Amelia!
This familiar name stirred something in Chen Mo's heart, and the image of a noble and cold female vampire elder appeared in his mind.
Could it be her?
In "Underworld," the highest authorities in the vampire family are the three elders. The other two are the vampire progenitor Marcus and the great lord Victor. The only female elder of equal status, Amelia, has always had a mysterious background.
In this world, Marcus was the first vampire.
He and his brother William, due to their special blood, transformed after being bitten by a bat and a wolf, respectively. They became very powerful and did not age or die, becoming true immortals.
However, they were not perfect.
Marcus became a vampire, needing to feed on blood and fearing sunlight, only appearing at night. William, on the other hand, became a werewolf.
Unlike Marcus, William completely turned into a beast, losing human rationality and becoming very ferocious and bloodthirsty. Many humans bitten by him also turned into werewolves.
Like vampires, werewolves had a fatal weakness: silver. Silver weapons could cause them great harm, even death.
To avoid detection by humans, Marcus survived by feeding on the blood of animals and livestock. Unlike the rational Marcus, the crazed William attacked civilians everywhere, increasing the number of werewolves and causing great disasters for humans.
As William's only remaining relative who could remember him, Marcus always wanted to find his brother after he lost his sanity and became a beast.
However, as a vampire, Marcus could not act during the day due to his fear of sunlight.
Seeing the situation getting out of control, Marcus sought out the powerful lord Victor, who had been leading his knights and troops to eliminate werewolves and maintain order.
Of course, this was not the now-vigorous Victor but the old Victor, who had fought werewolves for decades and was bedridden and near death.
Marcus and Victor made a deal.
Marcus revealed the secret of immortality to Victor and turned him into a vampire. In return, Victor agreed to help Marcus find his brother, the werewolf progenitor William, but without harming him.
After the agreement, Victor and his powerful army became vampires, with Victor naturally becoming the ruler of this vampire army.
This is why he became one of the three elders, ruling the vampires alongside Marcus. In terms of status, he was even above Marcus, with most vampires respecting him.
Elder Amelia's identity had always been a mystery. Now it seemed that the Amelia Andrew mentioned was likely to be one of the future vampire elders.
Marquis Leonard was very powerful, and Marcus might have turned her into a vampire to use her strength to find William.
As for why it wasn't Marquis Leonard himself, Chen Mo couldn't say for now.
Understanding the reason for Andrew's recent abnormal behavior, Chen Mo couldn't help but see him in a new light. He hadn't expected the usually quiet Andrew to have such a dramatic story and a romantic history with the marquis's daughter.
With Andrew's connection, Chen Mo's original plan naturally needed to change. After all, Andrew was a loyal and meritorious subordinate. Now that Chen Mo knew about this matter, he couldn't ignore it.
"If I hadn't asked today and had directly attacked Marquis Leonard's territory, what would you have done?" Chen Mo was indeed curious.
Andrew's expression showed a flash of conflict, but then he became resolute, clearly having already made a decision.
Looking at Chen Mo, Andrew replied in a deep voice, "I would have conquered that territory for you, my lord, and then requested that you spare her and her family."
Hearing Andrew's response, Chen Mo nodded, stood up, and issued a commanding order, "Assemble the knight regiment. We depart in half an hour. Target: Marquis Leonard's territory."
Hearing Chen Mo's sudden order, Andrew was shocked but quickly complied, "Yes, my lord!"
…
After several days of rapid marching, the knight regiment finally arrived at Marquis Leonard's territory.
When they were still a few miles away from the castle, Chen Mo ordered the knight regiment to halt.
By this time, the castle had already noticed Chen Mo and his men. The alarm bell in the watchtower was rung, the gates were closed with a bang, and the walls were crowded with soldiers gripping their weapons tightly, nervously watching the imposing heavy-armored knight regiment in the distance.
The newly appointed Marchioness Amelia, dressed in ornate female armor, ascended the wall surrounded by knights. Her helmet obscured her face, so her appearance was not visible.
"Marchioness, judging by their equipment, banners, and numbers, it should be the heavy-armored knight regiment from Blackstone Castle," a knight beside Amelia observed and reported.
"Blackstone Castle…" Amelia murmured, the name she least wanted to hear.
Leaving the knight regiment to wait in place, Chen Mo and Andrew rode out towards the castle.
As they got closer, the figures standing on the edge of the wall became clear to Chen Mo and Andrew. The figure in the ornate female armor was likely Andrew's former lover, Marquis Leonard's only daughter, Amelia.
Chen Mo could feel Andrew's heartbeat suddenly accelerate and his emotions become agitated.
Seeing only two people approaching, Amelia on the wall did not immediately order an attack. She wanted to see what they intended to do.
Reaching the base of the wall, Chen Mo reined in his horse and called out loudly, "Open the gate, we have matters to discuss."
Hearing Chen Mo's call, there was a long silence on the wall. Finally, under the gaze of everyone, Amelia slowly gave the order, "Open the gate!"
"Marchioness!" The knights on the wall quickly tried to dissuade her. They had heard of Chen Mo's formidable reputation, said to be able to break through the heavy and sturdy castle gate single-handedly. Letting him in could have dire consequences.
Facing the knights' advice, Amelia remained resolute. "You are all well aware of this lord's legend."
"If the legend is true, letting them in or not makes little difference. Perhaps there might be a turning point."
"If the legend is false, even better. There are only two of them, they pose no significant threat. With his knight regiment so far away, we have plenty of time to close the gate and capture them both!"
She was very curious about what this mysterious and powerful lord wanted to discuss with her.
