Chapter 104 - Chapter 104: Tension

Hearing her say this, the others were momentarily speechless. Indeed, if the rumors were true, no matter how hard they tried, they would not be able to withstand the attack of this powerful knight regiment.

The people present no longer spoke, silently praying that the legend was false. However, given the opponent's undefeated and invincible record, this possibility was very slim.

After ordering the gate to be opened, Amelia led a group of knights down from the wall to personally greet Chen Mo and Andrew, showing proper courtesy.

Chen Mo's identity and strength indeed deserved such treatment from her. Moreover, if any changes occurred, she could quickly respond and handle the situation on the spot.

The heavy gate slowly opened, and as Chen Mo and Andrew rode in, they saw Amelia, dressed in ornate half-armor, leading her knights on horseback to greet them.

Chen Mo nodded inwardly, admiring her courage and spirit. He was even more convinced that she was the future vampire elder.

The gate behind Chen Mo and Andrew slowly closed, and throughout the process, the distant knight regiment remained motionless.

Receiving the signal from the wall, Amelia and her people breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed this was not a conspiracy, but they still wondered what this powerful lord wanted to discuss.

"Do you intend to talk here?" Chen Mo's deep and authoritative voice came from under his helmet.

"My apologies, please follow me," Amelia nodded and led the way towards the castle.

In the grand castle hall, they took their seats. Andrew, dressed in full armor, stood proudly behind Chen Mo, while Amelia's knights stood neatly on both sides, their eyes fixed on Chen Mo and Andrew, ready for any sudden movements.

Sitting in the main seat, Amelia slowly removed her helmet, revealing an elegant, noble, and resolute beautiful face.

Chen Mo looked at this face, identical to the one in his mind but younger, and couldn't help but marvel at the coincidence. As he suspected, Andrew's former lover was indeed the cold vampire elder from the movie.

Standing behind Chen Mo, Andrew was also overwhelmed with emotion. If it weren't for the inappropriate timing, he would have rushed to embrace her and tell her how much he had missed her over the years.

However, all these emotions were hidden under his full knight armor, and no one noticed his abnormality.

Chen Mo, sitting in a large chair, wore a luxurious black noble robe, with his exposed head and hands covered in black armor. It seemed he was wearing a set of black knight armor under his robe.

Despite this, his movements were very agile, without any hindrance, making everyone marvel at the exquisite and magical armor.

Chen Mo slowly raised his head, revealing a pair of deep and sharp eyes under his helmet, making it difficult for anyone to look directly at him.

"Where is Marquis Leonard?" Chen Mo suddenly asked, his voice low and authoritative.

"My father passed away five days ago. I have now inherited his title," Amelia replied, trying to control her voice, but Chen Mo still detected a slight tremor, indicating she had not fully recovered from the pain of losing her father.

Chen Mo nodded upon hearing this. No wonder he hadn't received the news; ordinary information from the merchants usually traveled slowly unless it was particularly important.

"Has Miss Amelia married?" Chen Mo continued after a pause.

"No," Amelia answered patiently, though she didn't understand why Chen Mo was asking this.

"What is the matter you mentioned earlier that you wanted to discuss?" Amelia asked directly, feeling a bit annoyed that Chen Mo was talking about unrelated things during a time of war.

Just as others worried that Chen Mo might get angry, he simply nodded and said nothing. Instead, he slowly removed his alloy armor helmet, revealing a young, stern, yet authoritative face.

Looking directly at Amelia, Chen Mo said seriously, "Actually, I am here to propose marriage."

Chen Mo's words caused a great stir, like a stone thrown into a lake.

Amelia's eyes widened, and her gaze towards Chen Mo turned icy.

The knights in the hall also changed their expressions, drawing their swords, ready to rush forward and cut down the man who dared to insult their lord at Amelia's command.

Although Amelia was a woman, her strength was not inferior to any knight present. In terms of swordsmanship, she was even stronger than everyone there. Her exceptional combat talent and dedication to swordsmanship far surpassed others.

Years ago, to resist her father's arranged marriage, Amelia donned armor and joined the knight regiment, fighting alongside them.

Even after Marquis Leonard reluctantly canceled the engagement, she did not leave the knight regiment. Instead, she fought even more fiercely, never retreating from enemy knights or powerful werewolves. Through countless battles, she earned the respect of all the knights with her strength and courage.

Everyone knew that Amelia fought so desperately because of Andrew, who had been driven away by Marquis Leonard.

They had promised to become powerful knights together, to eliminate werewolves, and to protect the people of their territory from slaughter.

They also knew about Amelia's feelings for Andrew. Despite many noble suitors, Amelia had driven them all away with her sword.

In Amelia's heart, there was only one person, and that was Andrew.

With Marquis Leonard's recent passing, Chen Mo's proposal felt like an attempt to force an orphan and seize her territory. Naturally, the knights would not allow their lord to be humiliated.

Seeing the tension below, with a battle about to break out, Amelia, after her initial anger, felt a deep sense of helplessness.

She never wanted to oppose the powerful Chen Mo. Even if she voluntarily submitted, she would have to move to a city under Chen Mo's rule, giving up all her rights and territory.

This included their castle, which Amelia could not accept.

This was her home, where her parents' graves were, and where she and Andrew had shared their most precious memories.

She was waiting for Andrew to return. How could she leave?
