Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: Charge

When Count Warren hurriedly climbed up the city wall, he was greeted by the shocking sight of a heavy cavalry charge. This well-equipped heavy armored knight regiment was charging towards the castle gate in a wedge formation, their silver armor reflecting a chilling light under the sun, and the intense killing intent made everyone on the city wall shiver.

The neat formation and the well-crafted standard armor all indicated the regiment's rigorous training and strong foundation.

Count Warren had some doubts. This knight regiment didn't seem like it could have been formed within a year. Could it be… not him?

There was no time to consider further. Judging by the posture of this cavalry unit, they were clearly not friendly. With their numbers and equipment, if they managed to break into the castle, it would be difficult to resist them with the remaining forces in the castle.

"We must stop them!"

Count Warren shouted sternly at the captain in charge of the wall's defense.

"Rest assured, my lord. The castle gate has already been closed. Without siege equipment, they can't get in!"

The captain, who had ordered the gate to be closed as soon as the knight regiment was spotted, said confidently.

Count Warren then realized that he had been scared by his own wild thoughts. Not to mention, this elite knight regiment clearly couldn't have been trained by Chen Mo within a year without warhorses.

Even if it was really Chen Mo, he was indeed as powerful as the rumors said, but he didn't have wings and couldn't use magic. He couldn't possibly fly over the city wall with this group of cavalry.

Thinking of this, Count Warren relaxed, tidied up his clothes that had been messed up in his haste, and looked at the heavy armored knight regiment rolling in below, feeling much less worried than before.

This Blackstone Castle is entirely built with hard black rock. The city walls are over ten meters high and more than three meters wide, making it difficult even for agile werewolves to climb.

Since its construction, it has withstood countless enemy attacks for its lord and still stands strong.

The two gates of the castle are reinforced with iron-clad hardwood, with a thickness of more than thirty centimeters. They are heavy and sturdy, with bolts made from whole thick logs. Not to mention the impact of cavalry, even a group of werewolves would find it hard to break through.

Even if these knights charged at the castle gates with all their might, they would only end up with broken bones from the violent impact. It is impossible to break through this solid gate with just their bodies.

As the sound of galloping hooves grew louder, the heavy armored knight regiment got closer to the castle gate, soon entering the range of the archers.

"Archers, ready!"

"Release the arrows!"

At the command of the captain, the archers from the arrow towers and behind the battlements shot their arrows at the charging knights.

"Whoosh… whoosh…"

Accompanied by the sound of arrows piercing through the air, a rain of black arrows pressed down on the charging knights.

"Raise shields!"

Chen Mo, leading the charge, shouted loudly. The hundred knights following him raised their shields in unison, covering their helmets.

Chen Mo timed it perfectly. Just as the shields were raised, the rain of arrows from the city walls covered them.

A series of crisp metallic clinks sounded continuously. With the dense formation of the charging knights, nearly half of the hundreds of arrows hit their targets.

However, after the rain of arrows, the shields were lowered, and the entire knight regiment remained unscathed. Even the warhorses they rode were unharmed.

This is thanks to the armor they wore. Besides being made of much stronger material than ordinary knight armor, the full-body knight armor and horse armor designed by Chen Mo himself provided comprehensive protection for both the knights and their warhorses.

Inspired by his own Adamantium alloy armor, he cleverly designed the joints and other movable parts to ensure flexibility while maintaining strong defense capabilities.

This knight armor exposed only the eyes, with the rest of the body fully protected by the armor. The high-quality steel material ensured the armor's strength, making it impossible for arrows to penetrate. As long as they timely used their shields to cover their faces, arrows posed no threat to them.

Even their warhorses were fully armored, with steel masks covering their eyes to protect them from enemy attacks and prevent them from being frightened on the battlefield.

The vital parts like the neck and chest were also covered with sturdy armor, leaving only the legs exposed. Arrows shot from the top of the city walls had a hard time hitting the small, fast-moving horse legs, so arrows posed little threat to these warhorses as well.

"How is this possible?!"

Under a dense rain of arrows, the enemy remained completely unharmed. This situation shocked Count Warren and the others on the city wall. Under the captain's orders, the archers began to shoot continuously, wave after wave of arrows covering Chen Mo's knight regiment.

However, under Chen Mo's precise command, every attack was perfectly blocked, and the knight regiment soon charged to the castle gate under the rain of arrows.

Due to the suddenness of the knight regiment's attack, Count Warren's troops were completely unprepared. There were no stones or logs ready on the city wall, and it was too late to prepare them now.

So, with arrows being ineffective, they could only watch as Chen Mo led the knight regiment to the castle gate.

Fortunately, they had no way to deal with that sturdy gate.

This was not the simple wooden gate of those small nobles and poor lords. Even the werewolves who had invaded before couldn't break through that sturdy gate. After being shot dead by the defenders using the terrain, the remaining werewolves had to flee in embarrassment.

Seeing the knight regiment charging towards the gate without slowing down, Count Warren showed a mocking smile.

He concluded that these knights had no understanding of his castle and mistook the gate for a thin wooden door that could be easily broken by charging warhorses.

He eagerly anticipated the scene when they would crash into the gate with full force only to find it unbreakable. With their charging speed, the ones at the front would be crushed into meat paste, and even those at the back wouldn't be unscathed.

Once heavy armored knights started charging, they gained strong impact force but found it hard to maneuver flexibly. It took a long distance to slow down and stop. With their current unstoppable momentum, would they be wiped out under the gate?

Thinking of this, Count Warren couldn't help but laugh. He looked down at the knight regiment, now less than thirty meters from the gate and still charging at full speed, eagerly waiting to see how they would meet their doom.
