Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Time and Space Travel

A mysterious surge of information suddenly emerged in Chen Mo's mind, revealing the true nature of his long-dormant spatial ability.

It turned out that when Chen Mo encountered the car accident and his potential exploded, his mental power rapidly increased and broke through a certain limit, activating his hidden special ability.

In fact, Chen Mo was not the only person in history to have activated a special ability. Throughout history, there have always been people who, by chance, activated their own special abilities. Despite the various limitations of these abilities, they still left their mark on history.

Zhuge Liang performed rituals to summon wind and rain; Xiang Yu had the strength to lift a cauldron and was invincible in the world.

Many mythological abilities were actually records of these supernatural abilities by ancient people. Clairvoyance, clairaudience, invulnerability to weapons, flying and teleportation—these abilities all truly existed.

However, Chen Mo was more special than any of them. He could travel through time and space, entering other worlds. This ability could not be used at will and had certain limitations.

First, traveling through time and space required strong mental power, and Chen Mo's mental power had only now met the conditions to truly activate the ability. There were two main ways to enhance mental power: one was through the improvement of one's state of mind, which would increase mental power and develop the brain; the other was through the potential explosion in life-and-death situations, rapidly enhancing all aspects of abilities, including mental power and physical qualities.

Second, after traveling through time and space, there would be a one-month cooldown period before he could travel again.

The light spots outside the space represented the worlds he could travel to. However, at this time, the spatial ability was not strong enough, and he could only travel to one world. As Chen Mo's mental power increased, the space would continue to expand, become more stable, and the number of worlds he could travel to would increase.

At this moment, Chen Mo was facing a desperate situation. The sudden awakening of his time and space travel ability brought him hope. No matter what the other side of the space was like, escaping from here was the priority.

Chen Mo's consciousness entered the space and focused on the only glowing light sphere. With a thought, he chose to travel, and the light sphere suddenly flashed, causing Chen Mo to instantly disappear from his seat.

From the rolling cabin, he suddenly arrived on solid ground. Chen Mo was momentarily disoriented and stumbled to the ground.

Having just escaped death in the air disaster, Chen Mo quickly got up from the ground. After confirming his safety, he calmed himself and looked around at his surroundings.

Narrow streets, old buildings made of red bricks, gave off a sense of historical nostalgia reminiscent of old American neighborhoods in movies. The atmosphere of a bygone era hit him.

Having just acquired the ability to travel, Chen Mo had no information about this time and space. He would have to explore everything in this world on his own.

Just as Chen Mo was looking around, two black thugs passing by noticed him. They exchanged glances and smiled smugly, as if they had found an easy target.

Chen Mo was dressed neatly, clearly not a poor person in shabby clothes. Moreover, he was Asian, alone, and looked unfamiliar with the place. To the thugs, he was a lamb waiting to be slaughtered.

The two thugs approached and surrounded Chen Mo. One of them pulled out a knife and threatened, "Kid! Be obedient, or you'll regret it!"

The other thug grabbed Chen Mo's arm and pushed him into the alley behind them.

Having just arrived in this world and already encountering a robbery, Chen Mo felt a bit speechless. He glanced at the passersby who pretended not to see anything and then turned and walked into the alley voluntarily.

"Smart choice, kid!"

The two thugs didn't think much of it and followed Chen Mo into the alley. They probably thought that Asians were all weak and easy to bully.

Chen Mo walked to the corner and stopped, looking around. He nodded. It was a dead end, completely out of sight from the outside.

Ten minutes later, Chen Mo walked out of the alley, with a few dozen dollars added to his space.

Chen Mo found that his strength had increased again. He had been a bit heavy-handed, and the two thugs were still unconscious in the alley. However, he had figured out the situation.

This was Brooklyn, New York, in the United States. The current time was December 1941, during World War II. The European battlefield was in full swing, and just a few days ago, Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor, leading the United States to officially enter the war.

Chen Mo couldn't help but marvel at the wonders of fate. He had originally planned to go to Los Angeles, but in reality, he hadn't made it there yet. Instead, he had arrived in New York in another world, albeit seventy years earlier.

After understanding his current environment, Chen Mo found a hotel and used the money he had taken from the two thugs to stay there.

In the following days, Chen Mo frequented libraries and bars to learn about this world. His highly developed brain gave him extraordinary intelligence, and his ability to think and process information was very strong. He learned anything very quickly, and within a few days, his English sounded almost indistinguishable from that of the locals.

One morning, Chen Mo left the hotel and, as usual, bought several newspapers from the newsstand at the entrance.

At that time, recruitment posters were plastered all over the streets and alleys, and the newspapers were full of war-related content. The patriotic sentiment of the citizens was unprecedentedly high, and large numbers of young people were enlisting and heading to the Pacific and European battlefields.

It seemed to be a world identical to Earth during World War II.

Chen Mo now faced a problem. He couldn't stay in this world forever; he would have to return eventually. However, the information about time and space travel in Chen Mo's mind indicated that no matter how long he stayed in other worlds, only an instant would have passed in the original Earth timeline.

This meant that when Chen Mo returned, he would still be in the rolling cabin, facing the same life-threatening situation. Although his physical fitness had improved to near human limits, it was still not enough to ensure his survival in the crash.

Chen Mo had to find a way to quickly enhance his strength. Based on his recent experiences, the quickest way to improve his abilities seemed to be through life-and-death trials. Without a better option, Chen Mo would have to consider joining the military and going to the battlefield, or perhaps the mafia would be a suitable opponent.

As Chen Mo was reading the newspaper and contemplating whether to choose the police or the mafia, a familiar name caught his eye. The newspaper headline read, "America's Largest Arms Dealer 'Stark Industries' Signed a New Weapons Procurement Contract with the Military Yesterday."

Chen Mo was certain that in the real World War II era, there was no large arms company called Stark.

Further investigation revealed that Stark Industries was founded by the American genius scientist Howard Stark.

With his enhanced memory, Chen Mo could now almost achieve photographic memory. As long as he concentrated, he could clearly remember everything he had seen.

Chen Mo could recall most of the plot from the movies he had watched before. Combining the current time and the photo of Howard Stark in the newspaper, Chen Mo could basically conclude that he was now in the world of the movie "Captain America."

Moreover, it was before the plot began, when Red Skull Johann Schmidt had not yet obtained the Tesseract, and Captain America was still a weak, patriotic young man with no way to serve his country.

The power level in this world was not very high. The most powerful Captain America was just physically strong, not much stronger than Chen Mo was now, and there were no overwhelmingly powerful enemies.

However, this world also had some valuable things.

Regarding the enhancement of his abilities, Chen Mo now had more options. After carefully recalling the movie's plot in his mind, Chen Mo came up with a bold and crazy idea.

Once this idea emerged, it was unstoppable. Although the risk was high, the benefits of success would be enormous. As long as he prepared well and took each step carefully, the chances of success were high. Fortune favors the bold, and Chen Mo decided to take the gamble.

To realize this idea, Chen Mo had many things to do, and time was running out. He had to start acting immediately.

But before that, Chen Mo needed to raise some travel expenses.
