The windy Westbay beach was packed with the usual Friday evening crowd. Noble Nuru glanced at the beckoning water lovingly, then allowed his gaze slide over the laughing, swimming, screaming, talking groups. Returning his attention to the knot of men and women around him when a man jabbed his sides with an elbow, looking at him Noble couldn't get angry cause the guy barely noticed as he was in a process of braiding his girlfriend or wife or friend, sister? Whatever hair. He offered no apology and Noble expected none. It was a public beach, everyone for themselves right?
Turning away from him, he noticed Issa. Pausing to glance at her slender, curvy figure draped in a clingy black bikini. Issa noticing his burning gaze couldn't help her creamy complexion from turning to pale roses tint. Although he genuinely resented her, he couldn't help but admire her beautiful features. This woman had ambitions, crazy ones and her ambitions ruined them.
"Noble".
"Aaah huh.." That was his name and Issa was calling it.
"I said it's cold and you standing here all alone, like a tree" She pointed out.
He shrugged and spat, "What do you care" to which she snorted ,"As if."
Issa knew Noble was going to shut the conversation soon, he was as friendly as a bear awoken on mid- hibernation but she went on, it made her happy, to just get a few words out of this stoic creature and as if, in cue, with her thoughts he glanced at his watch, half an hour left.
Noble had, had different plans for that half hour, he shuddered at the thought of being stuck here with this woman, this wasn't his idea of fun. " Looks like someone future Is having cracks' He said.
" The what's?" She asked
"Heard you getting a divorce " He rephrased.
She started back when he looked at her, "I'm sorry to have startled you, I didn't mean to. But you know that I never liked you right?." Deep, firm voice. She took his hand, more startled at how warm it was, they were out, in the evening, at the beach and it was kinda chilly. How did this guy temperatures work? Mysterious as everything about him but his heart. That she knew now, this guy had no heart .
He glared at her and shook off her hand as she shook her head, her eyes round and wide as his palms. "YOU DID LOVE ME" She squeaked.
"You should get going Issa" He advised undisturbed. Dropping his voice to a low, hissing whisper, " I never did" . Issa stared in horror, trying to read him but did this man give anything away? She didn't know but she could see poison in bold.
He started towards the water, paused then dove. Fully dressed.
