Chapter 20 - The Call of the Dragon

Three days had passed since Master Kai's death, and the weight of loss hung heavy in Jack's heart. In the dim light of his small room, he stared at the ornate box left behind by his mentor. It had remained closed since that fateful day, a silent sentinel of the secrets it held. With a deep breath, he opened it, revealing a weathered map and a letter.

As he unfolded the letter, a mix of anticipation and trepidation coursed through him. Master Kai's elegant script beckoned him:

"There are three things required in order to summon that dragon. This map will lead you to the summoning spell—a spell that must be cast to call forth the dragon. The second map will guide you to the sacrificial plate, a marble slab intricately carved with a golden dragon. The third map will lead you to the Glory Hills; it is the only place where that dragon can be summoned. To summon the dragon, you must achieve these three things: place the plate in the Glory Hills, drop a drop of your blood on it, and then cast the spell. The dragon will appear."

Jack's heart raced as he examined the map detailing the spell. A surge of determination filled him; this was his purpose now. He resolved to secure the spell first and then seek out the other two maps to summon the dragon.

Memories of his last meeting with Lara and the others weighed on his mind—the heaviness of their goodbyes lingered. It was time to leave the city behind and embark on the journey ahead.

Following the map's directions and the myth's instructions, he set off to the north. The world outside was harsh and unforgiving. Just as he began to feel the thrill of adventure, a fierce snowstorm swept in, cold winds howling around him. Jack quickly sought refuge in a nearby cave, shivering as he struggled to make a fire.

When the storm finally subsided, Jack prepared to continue his journey. Before leaving the cave, he turned to Myth. "Can I store fire?"

Myth frowned, considering. "It's a good idea!"

Curiosity piqued, Jack pressed on. "So, I can?"

"Yes. Just put your hands in the fire and say 'interact.'"

With a deep breath, Jack approached the flickering flames. His frozen hands trembled, but he knew he had to try. He pressed his hands into the fire and spoke the word. Instantly, the fire vanished.

"Now I won't struggle for fire," he said, relief washing over him.

With renewed determination, Jack stepped out of the cave, ready to face whatever lay ahead in his quest.
