Chapter 22 - The Courageous Stand

The conversation between Jack and Myth came to an abrupt halt. A sudden chill swept through the air, and Jack sensed danger looming behind him. Before he could react, a Wobra's tail lashed out, slicing through the space where he had just stood. He barely dodged the strike, the sheer force of the attack propelling him backward, his heart racing as adrenaline surged through his veins.

As he steadied himself, he faced three Wobras, their serpentine bodies coiling and hissing, eyes glinting with malice. Sweat trickled down his brow, the oppressive weight of their presence almost suffocating. He inhaled deeply, grounding himself in the moment, and extract his sword once more, its blade gleaming ominously in the dim light.

One of the Wobras lunged, its tail like a whip slicing through the air. Anticipating the attack, Jack brought his sword down with precision, severing the tail. The creature howled in rage, the sound echoing through the clearing as the other Wobras surged forward in unison, their movements synchronized in a deadly dance.

Jack evaded their combined strikes, he locked dual contracts But as he moved, one of the Wobras caught him off guard, its massive body slamming into him and sending him crashing to the ground. Gritting his teeth against the pain, Jack pushed himself back to his feet, determination igniting within him.

"Now that I've locked contracts, I can tap into greater power while fighting you," he shouted, his voice steady despite the turmoil around him. "I'll give it my all. I won't lose—for Hana, for Master Kai, and for everyone who supported me through this relentless training!"

With newfound resolve, Jack focused on the fire he had stored in the cave, summoning it into his hands. He cast a reverse spell, transforming the flame into a brilliant white ball. With a powerful kick, he sent the fireball hurtling toward one of the Wobras, obliterating its head in an explosive burst. The impact was explosive; the creature's head disintegrated in a flash of light, leaving nothing but charred remnants in its wake. Jack felt a surge of exhilaration and fear as he turned his attention to the remaining two Wobras, the air thick with tension.

The battle raged on, each moment stretching into eternity as Jack remained laser-focused. His muscles burned,The screen in right side was glowing with red font showing,106 EXP Points, total EXP Points 147,level 2,remaining EXP Points 47 and remaining points In order to achieve level 3: 153 EXP Points,The screen on the left side was showing his body condition, Body Condition: 3%. Myth's voice suddenly echoed in his mind, breaking through the chaos. "Congratulations! You've earned three white salvus stones and nine yellow mortis stones."

"Wait, twelve assets? How?" Jack exclaimed, bewildered.

"These creatures have four heads each," Myth explained. "So, each head grants you one asset. You've faced them bravely, Jack. You've proven your worth."

Exhausted and teetering on the edge of unconsciousness, Jack's thoughts turned to his supplies. He realized his poisons and medicines were insufficient for a proper recovery. His heart sank at the thought of what lay ahead.

"Myth," he said, struggling to maintain focus, "what now?"

"There's a city called Mechtopya nearby," Myth suggested, the urgency in his tone clear. "It's renowned for its skilled craftsmanship and healing arts. We can rest there and regain your strength."

"Alright," Jack replied, still catching his breath. He could feel the weight of his fatigue pressing down on him, but the thought of Mechtopya filled him with hope. "Let's head there and recover."

With Myth guiding him, Jack moved cautiously, each step a reminder of the battle he had just endured. As they ventured toward the city, he couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning. The Wobras had tested his strength, but Jack knew he had much more to learn. The fires of his determination burned brighter than ever, and he silently vowed to grow even stronger in the days ahead.
