Chapter 33 - 033 · The Beast

"Call the man you met back in London? You got his number?" It was Cassandra who asked this time. "Did you flirt?"

"He gave me his card," she groaned.

And I think she handed it to them, because Sera said, "Eric Wolf? Well, that's a sexy name, uh? Wolf. Kind suits Selene, Greek Moon Deity." Exactly my point when I met her. "Shite, he has an office around here too?"

"Wait, CEO of MWAR Cybersecurity? That's the security I got in contact with to contract for my townhouse," Cassie muttered. "It's the best security system in the UK, probably in Europe, they are batshite everywhere. I thought the CEO was reclusive or some shite, but you met him easily."

"I wouldn't say that," she scoffed and we looked at each other.

"She is paranoid," Jung-jin growled. "Paranoid."

"I am not paranoid, I am just seeing all possibilities," she snapped and I frowned, confused by what she means by that. "Sure, I could be wrong and he could be just an incredibly hot guy who's interested in me, and I may have overreacted after he said something about being casual."

"Jesus Christ, how much did you talk to get to that?" Sera gasped.

"He asked to meet me here in Edinburgh, but I told him I can't, I'm too busy, and I have too much work, I can't date. Then he said he couldn't either because of work or whatever, and suggested being casual. I freaked out," she chuckled anxiously. "I blabbed some things that could get me very dead in the worst-case scenario, but not dead at all in the best one. BUT, I am never lucky enough to have the good scenario going on, so I'm fucked."

"Girl, I don't get this talk of dying. Ain't he a civil?" Cassie asked.

"She doesn't know you are you, right?" Des gasped.

I clenched my jaw, "Of fucking course, she doesn't, bastard."

"She is paranoid," Jung-jin scoffed again.

Selene cursed, "Stop saying that, you piece of shite. Ugh. I am not in the least, paranoid, I'm just sticking up to myself. I can't trust anyone out of you. Look," sigh, "I got the mission. I had to use some handling and use uncle Heath's wife and how much she loves me, to my advantage, but he had no other choice but to give to me," then something was put over a table with a loud sound and I just know it was the archive Phoenix gave her.

"Fuckity bloody Mary," Sera cursed.

"But why aren't you beaming with happiness?" Cassie gasped.

"Because," a pause, "uncle told me the Beast has his eyes on this."

I froze, covering my mouth, and my friends went dead silent. Fuck.

"The Beast? As in the most dangerous Obsidian agent in MI6? The one you told us it was the only person you did not want to cross paths with in your life at all?" Cassie squeaked. "Rank SSS in the division?"

"Why…? Why does he wants the mission?" Sera asked haunted.

"Yes, that Beast. Uncle told me he lost people for this mission, and if my intuition tingles is right, and the worst-case scenario here is in the works to fuck me over, I think he may have lost his parents to the mission. Which," sigh, "would mean he's the son the Peacock and the Red Swan, the only two people who got the mission after my parents did. However, they died a month into the investigation, mine died nearly five months into it, so, if he wants the mission, he will try to get my parents' journals."

"The… journals you hid from Phoenix?" Cassie huffed horrified.

"Yep," she clicked her tongue. "Meaning, the Beast will hunt me to the depths of hell to get the journals from me. I asked uncle Heath if he knew who I was, he said he didn't think so, and that he didn't know who he was, and neither how he looked like, but that he knew the Beast and his team are aware that I am my parents' daughter, and I should be extremely careful, because he is bloody dangerous. That made me panic, of course."

"And I was freaking out, until I went to Thea to change and get rid of the wig for now, and switch cars, when I talked to her about the Beast, and she told me some interesting things, from her time in the Ruby division as The Siren before she retired 9 and ½ years ago. She met him, but never saw his face, and told me he was the tallest person she ever met, a mountain, she said he exhalated danger and that he's a psychopath."

"Well, shite, this is an unwelcomed twist," Cael cursed.

"She's close to the Siren?" I frowned. "This is bad," I passed my left fingers through my hair. "She knew me from when I began in there."

"You think she told Selene?" Michel groaned.

"Depending on how close they are? Absolutely," fuck, fuck, fuck.

"Thea told me that way before he joined the Obsidian division, the Beast became the leader of the Sapphire division, where all agents work with the hacking part of MI6, in two years and half in there. Which proves that the psycho is a bloody genius, which so am I. However, Thea also told me that, if there's anyone who could possibly crack the security Interpol set around me, plus MI6's, that someone would be him, because he was that good at hacking."

"And as I don't believe in coincidence, here comes the twist. Which public job would be the best for a person like the Beast, if not something that is related to technology? What if…" an agonizing pause, "the CEO of the biggest Cybersecurity company in the UK and the Beast… are the same men? He is rich, he is tall, he is almost 10 years older than me, he lost his parents as a teen, he was a teen around the time Peacock and Red Swan died to the same mission my parents did, Thea said there's a rumor about the Beast being a legacy like me, he works with tech, and,"

"Stop the suspense, Lea, damn it," Cassie groaned.

"Eric Wolf, which I doubt to be his name, at beast a nickname but not his real name, made me shiver in fear and something else that doesn't matter right now," she exclaimed and I didn't feel bad at all.
