Chapter 34 - 034 · The Beast

"His eyes… his eyes made my soul feel goosebumps, he stared at me like a predator that is confronting his prey before he shoots her dead. So, now, tell me, if I am paranoid, like Jung-jin here insists: What are the possibilities of me meeting a men who fits all that I know of the Beast, in the same day I get the mission he wants, and right after I was warned that he's hunting me down?"

Leaning back on the couch, I grinned, "Interesting."

"Ugh, not that menacing grin," Des groaned at me, haunted.

"I think the word isn't 'interesting', but 'we're screwed'!"

My eyes went to Cael, "She is scared of who I am, she ain't going to be reckless, she will think of a way to deal with this, while making me let her stay alive, because she knows she's technically only useful to me for as long as she has the journals, and that I could kill her and get them. She is definitely aware that technically, I don't need her, but if she had me close to her, I would be of great help to hee. Plus the fact that me being the Beast or no, her knowing or not, won't change the fact that she desires me badly."

"I don't think she's the type to go with teamwork, mate," Des said.

"We'll deal with that later," I brushed it off. "She's way more clever than I gave her credit for, it's baffling and it makes her more attractive to me. Having her fear me will be good," a mischievous grin curled my lips.

"Lord have mercy," Michel groaned haunted.

After a long silence between them, Sera spoke, "Well, not to mock you or anything, Lea, but it's funny that the first time you got a real crush on a guy, the guy is the psychopath who wants to hunt you down!"

"We don't know if it's him," Jung-jin pointed. "She is supposing."

"I've know Lea since I was a baby, Jhonny, and her intuition is very much impossible to be beaten," Cassie scoffed. "Aunt says she's a psychic."

"Mami believes in stupid shite, I'm not a psychic," she scoffed.

"Dad said your mom was a psychic," Sera pointed. "He told me her psychic intuition was so sharp, she was ever bloody right about everything, and that some people said that was the Countess superpower. Maybe you got that from her, beyond just her codename."

"You say that because you also believe in stupid shite, Seraphina," Selene mocked. "Either way, I'm screwed, because he made me feel things that should be wrong, maybe they are, probably are. And it's worse because I just know how saw it all on me, he read me, because I was malfunctioning like a bitch, which I never do. Now I'm embarrassed to death, fuck."

"I still don't think Eric is the Beast. Come on, you said be is hot as hell, and I doubt the Beast is a Greek God under the mask," Jung-jin said.

"Darling, your red flag radar is broken. You dated six red flags on a roll, your parents are red flags, and that so called childhood best friend you had, Maria, was a red flag as well and stole your first boyfriend from you. So, I don't think you have anything to say about this. Besides, why are you insisting in saying that he isn't the Beast?" Selene groaned. "Have you met him? Or any of his teammates?"

We all side-eyed to Michel who turned strawberry red.

"W-what? I… I-I-I… I…" He stuttered.

"You did, didn't you?" She mocked. "In my worst-case scenario of my dangerous Wolf being the Beast, that gay friend he mentioned having could possibly be one of his three teammates. But you know that, don't you? You've always been openly out to everyone but your family, so, there's a possibility of you two having… flirted. I don't think he took his mask to be with you because being on the Beast's team it would be too dangerous. Who is it? The gay one. The Panther, Medusa, or Mercury? Panther ain't a gay name, Medusa is ambiguous so he could be bi… it's Mercury, innit?"

"Shite she really is a psychic," Michel gasped. "This girl's gut ain't a bloody joke, this is insane."

"How does she do that?" Des' jaw dropped.

"No joke she got into MIT at 12," Cael gasped. "She's insane."

"She said 'my dangerous Wolf'," I grinned and felf something in my chest bloom with the possessive little word. "Will she be able to link the new tenants to us without seeing me?" I licked my lips amused.

"Mate, you are out of your mind, that would be bad," Cael gasped.

"Mmmm, I don't think so," I purred. "It'll be interesting."

"How do you do that, noona?" Jung-jin gasped in shock.

"Oh?" She gasped as if she was surprised. "I got it right? The gay one is Mercury? I was just supposing, theorizing, it's what I do," and even though I can't see her, I just knew she was rolling her shoulders.

"Psychic!" Sera called it, snapping her fingers.

"That isn't a thing, Seraphina!" She scoffed.

"Yes, whatever, doesn't change the fact your crushing an enemy!"

"Where did I say the Beast was an enemy?" She countered.

I'm sure they got as shocked as we did. Because what the hell? I mean, that works in my favor, undoubtedly, but she just said I am a danger to her life, so, how am I not an enemy?

"You said he could kill you," Cassie gasped.

"And that he's a psychopath," Sera added.

"You've been freaking the bloody hell out for hours."

"The three of you have valid arguments, but he isn't an enemy. No. An enemy is someone I have a chance against," she mocked. "The Beast is out of my league, unfortunately, no matter how much I would want to kill him, to get him off my shadow. If I'm right and Wolf is the Beast, he isn't a threat, at least for as long as I don't paint him as one, he wants my mission, as I am not going to give it to him and fighting me for it is stupid given how I know more and have more in it, he might want something else. Something," she paused for a second, "that might end up making us work together."

"Work together?" Cassie asked.

"With the BEAST?" Sera nearly yelled.

"If it comes to that, it's better than making him an enemy, when I know for certain that I will not be able to take him head on. Wolf seemed to be analyzing the terrain on me, he know where I was and he came to me, nonchalantly, playing stupid, but my gut is telling me that it was all part of whatever plan he has in mind. Even he must know the danger of this mission, and like it or not, if we joined forces we would be stronger and there would be a better chance of us making out alive of this madness."

They were silent for a minute, a tense minute.

"Why not offer him that then?" Jung-jin asked.

"He can't know that I know that he knows who I am or what he wants with me," there was no holding our chuckles from that, because I already know, we already know. "So, I'll wait carefully for his next move, that is, if he isn't already making it and I haven't noticed yet. We might fight if he wants to test me, then, he'll offer to work together if I share with him what I know, only then, we'll deal with this working together thing."

And I thought she couldn't surprise me more. She read my moves perfectly well, but even then, I'm still ahead of her. I'm relieved to know she will be open to work together, though, that will make everything easier, and as she said, it'll raise the probability of staying alive at the end.

I am not letting myself or my friends die like my parents did when they messed with this mission. I am definitely not letting her die either, I need her alive, more than anything, I need to make her mine and make her understand that she is mine.

Let's play a bit.
