"Did you put it?" I questioned the second Des come back to the place I had in Edinburgh, and which I used every time I dropped by to see how Ella was doing. "Did you put the secret recorder?"
Slowly, a wide grin appeared on his lips, "Yep, under the couch of her living room. I turned it on the second I sat there, it'll scan the entire house and capture all the sounds in it," he threw the listening device of it to me. "Boss wasn't joking, she is absolutely stunning, but,"
"But?" We asked at the same time.
"She's scary, mate," he scoffed. "Scary as fuck. I almost thought she had caught on what I did. I was lucky that she her best friends were there and saw us before she could, then they welcomed us in her house. She seemed to have been getting ready, since it took her 10 minutes to come down, and she seemed startled to see us inside. Her best friends are slightly intimidated by her, I noted that, but they love her for sure," he jumped on the couch. "Cassandra, who goes by Cassie, got a crush on me, it made it easy, though Ivory, who goes by Sera, was absolutely obvious about her crush on Ella."
My eyes widened, "She has a crush on my sister?" He nodded. "I did not see that coming. And the girl?"
"Selene," he chanted. "She didn't give me surnames, but I think she was suspicious because she asked my name, age, what I work with, and yours too. Desmond, Achilleas, Caelan, and Michelangelo, I didn't give any surnames of anything, and she didn't seem to care much either, since she did not ask. The girl is a bit morbid and gothic, Sera said it herself, they even had a girly argument about that. Selene is 27 years old, from June 7th, Gemini, everything is black, like red and grey and gold as far as I've seen. She's short, before she came in, Cassie said Selene was 1.67m."
Hah, that will be interesting, I'm 2.09m. I couldn't help grinning.
"She is classy, sarcastic, obnoxious, rude, arrogant, condescending, and single," he side-eyed me and I rolled my eyes. "Sounds like you. Sera called her nasty, and said her nastiness was the reason she never had any boyfriends, but she didn't seem the least fazed, and said she could just find someone as nasty as her. I think you will click on that."
"Fuck off," I growled. "What else?" Des is the best on our team to examine the field, take in everything and pass the information to me. That's why I sent him with my sister today, I don't intend on letting her know how I am yet, as I'll be the one responsible for breaking through her defenses, and getting her to do this with us. For that, she needs to trust me.
"Deep, low-pitched, raspy entrancing voice, she felt like a siren, it was hypnotizing at first sight. Cassie is more my type, but I felt instantly drawn to Selene, there's something dangerous about her, it's similar to what Eric emanates. She's badass, bossy, sassy, hot, and she knows it. No wonder she has such a reputation in the MI6 as The Countess, she definitely wields her sensuality as a weapon. She's a fashionista, antisocial, but knows how to handle herself near other people, in a way that she'll draw all the attention of the room towards her," he sat down, getting serious.
"She threw a cocktail spoon at Sera's forehead, and I just know that if that had been a bullet, her friend would be dead, dead. Sera threw the spoon back at her but she caught mid-air like nothing, just like she caught a pillow Sera had thrown at her before, her reflexes are extremely. And when I called her Countess? She was startled for a second there," his eyes met ours. "She glared at me in such a deadly way that sent goosebumps down my entire body, it was bloody frightening, and I'm not one to get scared."
"Ella helped us unphantomably," he added, intertwining his hands over his knees. "Do you know what I learned? The mansion in the other side of the street, was her parents home, and the place they died in. We'll live in front of it, man, that's pure gold for the mission."
God's above, "She told you that?"
"No. Her friends mentioned before she came down, then Ella asked her about it, saying her friends that told us, and she had no other choice but to confirmed. Though she got all morbid and told us it was where they died, that they were murdered, but the police was incompetent and took as an accident," our jaws dropped. "Then she began a talk about death that gave me the creeps, about thieves of lives, who take lives forcefully before their time has come, then she said that we should pray we didn't become another victim of them. Shite like that. That was when Sera busted calling her gothic and morbid, and cute," he burst out laughing.
"Why are you laughing?" Cael gasped.
"I… She seemed to hate being called cute, she got all mad and was the reason why she threw the gold spoon at Sera's forehead, and they began bickering. Then Sera told us, why being incredulous, that Selene was going to paint her haunted castle… I mean, her manor, black. Then she called her Wednesday Adams," he rolled his eyes, still giggling. "Selene seems to be knowledgeable on cocktails, since she made a Moonshine Martini in a lil second for herself, when she left, she left grabbing a bottle of Polish vodka with her, so, I guess she must like alcohol, as if her huge bar in the living room wasn't indication enough. Sera served us some absinthe before she came down, and she almost killed her with a look for it."
"What about the townhouses? Did you made the deal?" Cael asked.
A nod, "Technically yes."
I arched my eyebrows, "Technically?"
"There was a change in the plans, which you will enjoy," his eyes met mine, as he grinned mischievously, giving me the creeps. "When we got there, Sera was helping Cassie move from the 8th to the 4th townhouse, freeing the 5th for Ella, the 8th for you, and the 9th which I took for myself. Since Selene's townhouse is the 7th, she'll be between yours and Sera's. Before she came down, Sera tipped Ella saying that even though they told Selene to rent the place for us, she wasn't very welcoming of the idea, but that she's a sucker for money and that if we raised the counteroffer, it could get her to bend."
He's right, I like the idea of being her neighbor.
I like it a bloody lot.
