Chapter 8 - 008 · To be Taken by the Highest Bidder

"How many floors are there?"

"66, but the 66th is entirely for the highest bidder," he explained.

"An entire floor?" I gasped in dismay with the absurdity.

"It's VIP treatment, from from 14 to 64 they are divided in two, each with two bidders, the higher you are, the more money you have, they don't know that though, only we do," he grinned amusedly. "The gems of the auction stay under the highest bidder, on the top of the hotel, it's a 10-suite floor, the diamond and ruby have the biggest rooms, the diamond's being the more exclusive suite of floor 65."

"If I'm the diamond and number 10, the ruby is number 9?" He nodded. "I see, so, she's the second most wanted after me. Is she from Zekarr?" A nod. "If Zekarr is where the auctions always happen, and I heard they always have more ladies in it, is the ratio 5:4:1 to Zekarr, Arient, and Crims'on?" Another nod. "So, it'll be Zekarr, Arient, Zekarr, Arient, Zekarr, Arient, Zekarr, Arient, Zekarr, and lastly Crims'On, right?" One more nod. "Is the highest bidder who will buy me?"

"I don't know," sigh. "We measure the highest bidder by seeing who has the biggest net-worth, but sometimes they have their eyes set on one of the ladies already, and not always they go for the diamond. Sometimes, the highest bidder is not the one who bids the most in the end, because we don't know how things will play out. No one in my family has foresight."

Clever response, "I see. Can I know the ratio of the bidders?"

"There's no one from the Starlight Conjunction this year," he told me.

"Alright, so, it's between… Hellheim, Tyllaeth, Naevys, Ellari, Naerdyr, and Abrekiir. This is the order of power of the six realms outside of the Conjunction we are in, so, tell me the ratio in it, just so I can have an idea of what this is about!" Just so I can measure how many demonic faes will be bloody present.

"5:21:29:18:15:12," and he had the answer at the tip of his tongue.

That means only 5 from Hell will come, 21 faes from Tylla, 29 from Naev, 18 from Ellari, 15 from Naer, and 12 faes from the butthole of the Supreme Empire. "Out of all of them, how many do you think will bid the highest?" I asked.

He seemed to think a little about that, "5:3:4:3:3:2."

That means the highest bidding realm will be Hellheim. "And winners?"

"Do you want me to be honest?" I nodded and he sighed. "2:2:2:2:1:1."

"So you do have an idea of who will bid for whom," I smirked.

"I don't, my mom, on the other hand, does, because she handpicked each of them on her own, and she picked all the ladies of the auction thinking of who would be the most worthy in the nine realms, that's why she needs you. No one is worthy more than you are," meaning the highest bidder could be the one after me, and I have a terrible feeling that he's from the place I least want to end up in, and unfortunately, my gut is never wrong. "But this is just probability, Kore, we have been wrong about our ratio before, so, that's that. We'll know on October 19th."

"I'll be there," Justine told me, "as Grég's mate and your scouter."

Well, that sounds ridiculous, "And his fiancee," that made them blush.

"And my fiancee," he said proudly, looking at her with desire, ew.

"So, before you go at each other again, tell me something. Will I be fine in the hotel if I leave right now?" That took both off guard.

"You already wanna leave? Like, right now?" Justine gasped.

"I would rather leave than stay here and be put through the torture of you two fucking like rabbits in heat, I feel like I'm intruding your moment of mating frenzy, and I think you two agree with that," they said nothing but blushed. "Aside that, I'm broke, Justine, I have 66 mahjs and 60 bells on me, nothing else, I'm now unemployed because I won't he able to work now that Mr. Snow gently kicked me out of his place, and I don't have enough to even pay the rent to you. In fact, that's why I'm going on board with this batshit idea, because it was either that, or I would be on the streets by the end of the month, and you know that."

Sigh, "Alright, I get it. We low-key betted on that to make you hop on it at final," she chuckled anxiously. "Just don't take any of those… clothes you use. Take your documents, resumes, what you have of emotional value and that's it."

How thoughtful of her, hah. "What will I dress?" I frowned.

"We have stylists ready to take care of you, not just stylist as professionals in hair, skin, nails, skin, massages, and everything to make you shine, together with all kinds of doctors, you will be fully taken care of. Now, about the stylists, if you are open, they will examine your tone skin, your hair, and decide on your pallette of colors, the one that suits you the most, tell you if you have a winter, autumn, summer, or spring beauty, and work based on that to make you shine the most. All of your clothes will be magically made for you by the best stylist of Zekarr," he told me with pride,

"I'll get my backpack, prepare to open a portal to the hotel. I'll talk to the gracious Ámándá Nguyen Russo, your mamma, myself, and tell her about our deal. You can stay and enjoy your mating bond without me bothering you in here," then I left the living room and went to my bedroom.

It took me 10 minutes. I only packed what I most needed and what I held precious in my heart, which filled my backpack. When I got back to the living room they were making out in the couch, because her bedroom is totally not five steps away from the bigger couch they are in.

"Oh, come on, the portal, I can't third wheel you no more," I groaned.

She groaned, "You say that because you're a virgin, Kore."

Grégórí gasped, "You're a virgin?"

I crossed my arms over my chest, "I feel no attraction towards anybody, I never did, so why would I waste my time trying something that wouldn't be good?"

"Apollo bless us, you are a virgin!" He beamed.

Because that's not strange at all, "Why are you so happy?" I frowned.

"That will make you worth more money, Kore!" He giggled happily.

Rolling my eyes, I glared at him, "The portal, Nguyen Russo!" My glare made him aware enough to stop smiling and open the damn portal. "See you again on October 19th, I won't miss you," then I crossed the portal to the Zekarr realm.
