When both of them descended from the guest room the hall was almost empty, it looked like a ghost town. Usually, at an hour like this, there should be people trying to get work or something, it was unusually quiet. There was only the receptionist who panicked a little when she saw them trying to find someone... anyone, but she was all alone.
"Hey, what's this?" Said Fuwa "Where are all the people?"
"Oooh Miss Fuwa I'm glad you are okay!"
Fuwa wanted to ask further but Raven hurriedly intervened.
"Yes, because you caused such a scene being so drunk and now you are here like nothing happened, you rascal" She crossed her arms and negated with her head.
"Y-Yes that's right!" She said catching the evil grin in Raven's eyes "You were so feisty yesterday, good thing your companion was there to help you out"
Fuwa blinked, her confusion deepening as she tried to piece together the events from the previous night. The way Raven and the receptionist spoke made it seem like she had caused a huge ruckus, but something still didn't feel right. She didn't remember acting out that much, and the eerie emptiness of the hall only added to the unsettling feeling in her gut.
"Right…" Fuwa mumbled, scratching the back of her head awkwardly "Guess I really overdid it, huh?"
Raven just smirked, clearly enjoying Fuwa's discomfort "You could say that" she teased, her eyes gleaming with mischief "But don't worry, I handled everything like the good friend I am" Raven remarked specially the word friend.
The receptionist nodded vigorously, her eyes darting between the two of them "Y-Yes! Miss Raven was very quick to take care of things. You should be thankful!"
Fuwa sighed, feeling like she was missing a crucial piece of the puzzle "Well... thanks, I guess"
Before Fuwa could press any further, the receptionist seemed eager to change the topic. "Speaking of which" she said with a nervous smile "I was actually going to suggest something. I know you both are new to the guild, but why don't you name the team? Usually, it's something people do after some time, but you two seem to have some story already"
Raven's eyes grew wide, she knew this was a bad idea. But Fuwa's eyes shone with a blinding light, she had been waiting for this all her life. She couldn't reject it, and less after that show of dominance on her part, she was still a little intimidated.
Fuwa's eyes lit up, her earlier confusion temporarily forgotten "Name the team? That sounds amazing!" she exclaimed, her voice full of excitement. Raven, on the other hand, immediately regretted not intervening sooner. She was again the usual silly girl full of wonder who admired even the most dumb thing.
"Uh, Fuwa, maybe we should..." Raven began, but it was too late.
Fuwa was already deep in thought, her mind racing with ideas. She looked like a kid in a candy store, excited and overwhelmed by the possibilities. Raven watched her with growing concern, knowing that whatever name Fuwa came up with was bound to be... interesting.
"Let it be..." Fuwa started, her face lighting up with a grin that made Raven's stomach drop, "...Black Cat Circus!"
The receptionist clapped excited and suddenly to Raven's horror, the book of registration was updated, Raven and Fuwa, members of Black Cat Circus.
"And I'm assuming Miss Raven is the leader?" Asked the guild girl.
"Of course not, I am!" Said Fuwa.
The receptionist blinked, her hand hesitating over the registry "Oh… I see" she said slowly, glancing between the two of them "So, Miss Fuwa, you'll be the leader of the Black Cat Circus?"
Fuwa stood tall, hands on her hips, beaming with confidence "That's right! I mean, Raven might have the cat ears, but I'm clearly the one with the natural leadership skills!" She gave a wink, her playful grin spreading across her face.
Raven, who had been standing in stunned silence, finally snapped out of it "Whoa, whoa, whoa!" She stepped forward, her tail flicking with agitation "Since when did I agree to that?"
Fuwa, still full of excitement, shrugged nonchalantly "Oh, come on, Raven! You agreed to it in the room some moments ago!" She puffed out her chest, clearly proud of her decision.
The receptionist chuckled nervously, clearly uncomfortable with the growing tension "U-Um, I can always adjust the registry if you two want to… discuss it further"
Fuwa waved her hand dismissively "Nah, we're good. Black Cat Circus, with me as the leader!" She leaned in toward Raven, lowering her voice "Besides, you'll have more fun not having to worry about all the boring leader stuff. Just leave it to me!"
Raven groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose "Fuwa, you're impossible…"
And so, Fuwa was made the leader of Black Cat Circus, Raven was looking at her with intensity 'You will pay for this you little punk!' Her mind raced 'Soon I will have my revenge!' And the adventurer team passed to the register.
"Oh and by the way Tina" Said Fuwa remembering the name of the clerk, who was surprised "Where is everyone?"
Raven looked at Fuwa and then shifted to Tina, she didn't know also about the rest. The guild girl looked nervous.
"Oh, everyone is on an expedition to the Ice Cave Dungeon!" She said with a very feigned bright smile "They said they wanted to hunt for some pelts on the first floor" She then looked at the pappers as if looking for some excuse or something.
"Yes, Ok" Said Raven, then she looked at Fuwa "So we go to the next town, good"
"No, of course not silly, we are getting you something warmer and we are going back to the dungeon for the meet"
Could this day be worse for Raven?
"Oh you are going too?" Said the receptionist alleviated for not having to babysit them "You can take some coats from the guild vault!" She was very happy.
"See Raven, it was a good deal that we joined the guild" Fuwa said with a bright smile.
Raven looked at Tina who was smiling, and then to Fuwa who was smiling even more, she felt as if she was the one babysitting them.
"And you know Raven..." Said Fuwa suddenly all shy and flirty "It would make me really happy to eat that delicious boss steak" She said trying to seduce the reformed bandit.
"Fine!" She said "But I will take the warmest coat there is to this thing!"
Raven sat on a chair all gloomy with her arms crossed. She had no idea how this whole thing was important, or if they had a chance to go back, but even so, Fuwa wanted to eat that steak, and that was it. Fuwa smiled and grabbed the receptionist.
"I will accompany you to get it" She said to Tina.
As the receptionist nodded she looked at her.
"You have such a good friend" She said.
Fuwa smiled victorious, today this day was great, the shadows of last night finally dissipating as happiness overflowed her body.
"The best" She said as both of them went to the vault of the guild.
