Chapter 57 - Dreams and Revelations

The rest of the day was damn too awkward, Fuwa was a little sad even if she didn't want to admit it, she really wanted to join that adventurer guild, Raven knew it because she was so terribly bad at masking a fake smile. But, she was surprised, she wasn't expecting her to reject that which she badly wanted only to follow her, it's not even been that long since both of them knew each other.

'Fool' She thought as she stared at the ceiling of their dorm, but a smile crowned her lips, tomorrow would be the day, she would tell the truth about her stats to Fuwa, those stupid adventurer devices had already spilled the milk about her class.

Soon she was claimed by her dreams, and as soon as she closed her eyes her subconscious got pulled again by the ghostly hands of the spirit she had made a contract with.

"Lucky you, we meet again" Said Undine.

Raven opened her eyes and she wasn't in her bed. Instead, she was in an exquisite place, the floor was glistering, made of something she didn't know, it looked shiny, like some strange gem... but it looked different at the same time. The walls looked like they were made out of spiky shells of sea creatures... at the center of the room was a throne made of a giant seashell, adorned with beautiful corals and pearls. Sitting in the throne was the greater spirit of water herself.

"Good, now we can talk once again" Said the spirit with a grin.

Raven growled a little annoyed, but before the might of the spirit, she was just a victim of its whims.

"Last time you almost drowned me!" Said finally Raven "You appear out of the blue and said cryptic shit that I don't understand and almost kill me!"

The spirit clapped and laughed at the words of Raven, she was a fierce kitten for her, but only a kitten. Then she looked at the ring on her finger and her smile looked for Raven more like a deadly wolf smile than one of amusement.

"Why pay attention to such futile details? Both you and I know that won't kill you" She moved her hand as if she was trying to minimize the facts "But my message for you is still the same" Her smile vanished and she looked at the cat deadly serious to her eyes "It's not time for you to be playing stupid games or pitting yourself, time is running thin"

This chilled the blood in Raven's body, she felt scared, the being in front of her was terrifying, a power that probably few if anyone would understand, Raven feels like she was just seeing the surface of what's below, like someone looking at a small pond without knowing how deep it went.

"What do you mean?" Raven managed to say.

The spirit grinned and looked at her over her shoulder as she was looking for something in her throne.

"Do you think you are the only one with a contract?" She said "I know of another person, oh don't look at me like that my jealous cat, it wasn't me who offered the contract but a dear friend of mine"

Raven didn't understood what she meant and how much it mattered for her.

"What are you doing a bet or something?" She asked confused.

"You could say so, it's too soon for you to see the powers at play, but I fear for you my little kitten, you are so insignificant, you are so far beneath anyone with significant power, yet you are being drawn as a moth to the fire without you knowing how deep you are right now"

"Then help me damn it!" Raven said, she intended to sound intimidating but her voice came out like a plea.

There was a very terrifying silence then, it looked as if the spirit was trying to decide what to do with her.

"Haven't I helped you already? You are abusing your good luck and my goodwill" The spirit said letting escape an annoyed sight "I will give you a word of advice, take it as a prophecy, you will go around the fountain where you knew your dwarf friend last time, and you will lose your time around it, do what you do best, be a silly cat, dance and have a good time and you will be bound to know people that will drag you up" Meanwhile the spirit talked her eyes glowed dangerously with pure, raw and primordial magical energy, Raven hadn't studied magical theory or anything, but that wasn't something common, she doubted someone could contain that much magic inside their body without exploding "Hear my worlds, for I, Undine, agent of the great sea of mysteries and holder of secrets have pierced your miserable future, and only witnessed suffering if you don't heed my advice"

Soon the place began to flood, torrential water began to drag Raven as if she were a doll.

"We won't talk again for a time, reaching an insignificant cat is too much of a job from this place, but it's good to watch over your pets from time to time, don't you think so?"

The last thing Raven saw was the spirit hands glowing before she got flushed out of her dream, Raven opened her eyes as she impacted the floor of the tavern where they had been sleeping with a loud thump, her heart was pounding fast in her chest, and she was covered in sweat. Fuwa moved to the another side.

"No... mom... no... I don't... want to go to school..."

Raven lay on the floor, gasping for breath, her heart hammering in her chest from the terrifying encounter with Undine. She wiped the sweat from her brow, trying to calm down. The room was still dark since the sun hadn't risen yet, and the only sound was Fuwa's soft, mumbled sleep-talk. Raven glanced over at her, momentarily distracted by the sight of the martial artist rolling over and mumbling something about not wanting to go to school. It almost made her smile.

But the weight of Undine's words still pressed on her. That chilling prophecy... the thought of being dragged into something beyond her understanding... beyond her power... left her shaken. The spirit's warning echoed in her mind: "You are being drawn as a moth to the fire..."

But the weight of Undine's words still pressed on her. That chilling prophecy... the thought of being dragged into something beyond her understanding—beyond her power—left her shaken. The spirit's warning echoed in her mind: "You are being drawn as a moth to the fire..."

Raven took a deep breath and sat up, her tail twitching anxiously. She stared out the small window, watching the faint light of dawn begin to filter in. What did Undine mean by telling her to be a "silly cat" around the fountain? It sounded ridiculous, like some kind of twisted joke, but Undine had been dead serious. The spirit didn't make idle threats, and if she ignored this... she had a feeling the consequences would be dire.

"Tomorrow, huh?" she muttered to herself.

She sighed, her mind heavy with all the cryptic words and the immense pressure of something far beyond her. But then her eyes drifted back to Fuwa, still peacefully sleeping, completely oblivious to everything going on in Raven's world.

Raven couldn't help but wonder... what would happen to Fuwa if she dragged her into this mess? That stupid, cheerful smile of hers might vanish forever if she got too close to Raven's cursed fate. It scared her to think about it.

"You're such an idiot, Fuwa" Raven whispered to herself, her voice soft and conflicted "You could've had your dream if you ignored me, but you threw it away to follow me. You don't even know what kind of trouble I'm in... what kind of trouble you're about to get pulled into"

The soft and steady breathing of Fuwa eventually calmed Raven enough to sit in her bed, it seemed like the spirit was trying to warn her about someone else, but she didn't gave her any details... only that another person had sealed a pact with another spirit since she said it wasn't her. Raven's tried to think about it, but she wasn't that smart to understand it all with this small conversation.
