The dust settled slowly, revealing a battlefield marred by Dorothy's devastating explosion. Zorala lay on the ground, injured badly, blood dripping from various wounds. He spat on the ground, scanning the area for Dorothy.
As the dust cleared completely, he looked up and saw Dorothy floating above him, her finger pointed directly at him. At the tip of her finger, a small but intense beam of light flickered.
Zorala laughed, a guttural sound laced with pain. "Do you think you can injure me with that?"
Dorothy's expression remained cold and emotionless. "No, I think I can kill you."
She fired the beam. It moved slowly, almost lazily, towards Zorala. He dodged to the side, but as the beam touched the ground, it released a massive explosion. A colossal beam shot upwards, engulfing the area in a blinding light. The force of the blast created another wave of dust and debris.
Dorothy descended to the ground, her eyes scanning through the settling dust. She saw Zorala, his body covered in ice, coughing up blood.
"Is that all you have?" Dorothy asked, her voice void of empathy.
Zorala grinned through his pain. "No, I'm just the distraction."
High above, hidden in the clouds, a booming voice echoed. "DO NOT FEAR, FOR I, YOUR SAVIOR, HAVE ARRIVED!"
Dorothy looked up to see a man descending from the sky. He wore a red suit and a blue cape adorned with 29 stars and white stripes. His blond hair and black eyes shone with an unsettling confidence. He was smiling broadly as he floated down from the clouds.
