right next to Zorala. He looked down at the battered soldier with a mix of approval and indifference.
"Good job, Zorala," the man said.
"Thank you, Lieutenant Ravva," Zorala responded, his voice filled with gratitude despite his injuries.
Dorothy eyed Ravva warily. "Are you also here to kill me?" she asked.
Ravva laughed, the sound echoing ominously. "YES, I AM."
Dorothy's expression didn't change. "Do you think you're my equal?"
Ravva's smile widened. "NO, I DO NOT. I AM FAR BEYOND YOUR EQUAL. I AM THE LIGHT THAT SHINES FOR THOSE WHO LIVE IN DARKNESS. I AM THE ONE WHO CARRIES HUMANITY ON MY SHOULDERS, FOR IF NOT ME, THEN WHO WILL?"
Dorothy fired a beam from her finger, aiming it at Ravva. He didn't move, simply raising his hand to catch the beam. It exploded in his grasp, but Ravva emerged unscathed.
"I guess now it's my turn," Ravva said.
The plants and trees around them began to catch fire, and Ravva himself ignited. His skin started to burn, but he seemed unaffected by the pain.
"MY FLAMES ARE THE PURITY OF MANKIND," he declared. "THEY LIGHT THE WAY EVEN AGAINST THE DARKEST OF TIMES."
Ravva raised his hand towards Dorothy. "SUPERNOVA," he shouted. A massive beam, so bright it was white, shot out from his hand. The intense heat of Ravva's beam seared through the air, cutting Dorothy in half. Her lower body was vaporized instantly, leaving her upper half to fall to the ground, blood pouring from her severe wounds. The left side of her face was gone, leaving a ghastly sight.
Ravva walked up to the fallen Dorothy, his eyes cold and unfeeling. "You fought well, Dorothy," he said.
Through the agony, Dorothy managed a weak smile. Ravva knelt beside her, placing a hand gently on her shoulder. "It's okay, Dorothy. It's your time now."
A single tear rolled down Dorothy's right cheek. Ravva stood up, raising his hand. "Goodnight, Dorothy," he whispered.
A massive beam erupted from Ravva's hand, bathing everything in a blinding light. As it enveloped her, Dorothy used her last breath to whisper, "Live, my children."
The light consumed her, leaving nothing behind. Dorothy was vaporized, her existence erased by the overwhelming power of Ravva's beam.
Blue, Morin, Rim, Pluto, and Vagan were on the boat, heading towards the sea. The mood was somber, the weight of their loss hanging heavily in the air. Morin looked back at the continent, a mix of sorrow and determination on his face.
"Goodbye, Mother," he whispered, a tear escaping his eye.
