Chapter 19 - First Day of UA(Part 5)

After my last class, I packed my things, and walked out, thinking I could find a quiet place to do my homework for English. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to be the case. "Oh-hey hey hey, you're Kenji! The new kid!" I mentally sighed, and turned around, facing a girl with bubblegum skin, pink hair, and black eyes with an orange iris. She also had two short, kinda inward-pointing, yellow horns on her head, and she was wearing the UA uniform, of course, though hers was with a short instead of pants like him. And she seemed to have a few friends with her. A few I could make out by name. Jiro, Asui, Yayorozu, Kaminari, Kirishima, and Uraraka. The one who had spoke, though, was the pink girl. "I'm Mina Ashido! It's nice to meet you!" They walked up to me, making a semi-circle. I didn't mind much, though secretly, the attention bothered me. I didn't like having multiple eyes on me. Not at all. I could usually ignore it, sure, but when they got this close? No can do. "I saw your quirk during training!" Uraraka spoke, giving a sweet smile. I only reached a hand up to hold my necklaces again, just like I always do when I'm feeling insecure or unsettled. "It's kinda creepy, but man, it's also pretty cool!" Kaminari added, to which Jiro used her earphone jacks to stick them in the blondes ears. Kaminari let out a strangled, pained yelp, and Jiro pulled her earphone jacks away. Kaminari held his hands over his ears, frowning. "Well, I think your quirk is fairly powerful." Yayorozu spoke, giving a kind smile of her own. "I wonder what all you can do with it, Kero." Asui spoke, tilting her head to the side, holding a finger against the side of her cheek, the tip of her tongue poking out. "Well, I'm sure you'll make it as a hero, man! Your quirk is so manly!" Kirishima spoke, raising a fist in the air and smiling as well. I didn't give any reaction, really, just playing and fidgeting with my necklaces. "Thank you. I appreciate it, really, but I-" Before he could finish, though, Kirishima slung an arm around his neck, as if about to pull him in to playfully place him in a headlock. I instantly went rigid, still and tense as a statue, passing the fidgeting of my necklaces for a moment. Kirishima noticed, and thankfully, pulled away. "Whoa! Sorry, man, I didn't mean-" "It's fine." I interrupted, my tone a bit harsher than I had wanted, but it was too late to take it back. I stood up straight, and resumed the fidgeting with my necklaces. Kaminari got curious, it seemed, his yellow eyes staring at them for a minute. "Whats with the necklaces, Kenji?" My grip tightened slightly, though I kept a straight face. "Nothing of your concern." I spoke, yet again harsher that I intended. But again, it was too late to take it back. Uraraka decides to change the subject. "Anyway-we were wondering if you wanted to hang out with us today!" She gave a bright smile, and then Mina jumped in. "We might be heroes in training, but we know how to have some fun!" Yayorozu piped up next. "We'll have tea as well!" The rest of them had been about to speak again, to overlap their voices with one another's, but I spoke before they could. "No. I have homework to get done." And I didn't give them a chance to reply before I turned, and walked off, trying to find that quiet place so I didn't have to deal with any loud students. Or anyone, really.
