She began to protest when Rylan's lazy, bored voice came from behind, "Are you two seriously going to start the public display of affection again? Aveline, hurry up and shoot at me!"
Leaning down, Lucian pecked her lips and then walked up to the target board and took Rylan's place after exchanging some words with him. Rylan shrugged and gave him the apple before he went to stand by his nervous-looking sister.
"You can do it. He heals faster than you can imagine; if you hit him, it wouldn't be a problem," he said to encourage her, but that only made her more nervous as she knew that her husband never healed from injuries caused by her hands. She didn't know why they believed she needed such practice when she already knew how to use a bow!
"You can do it, Babe!" Lucian said with a smirk, causing their audience, who had never heard an adult being called an infant, to gasp at his choice of words to address his wife.
