Chapter 31 - Dual

Alice quickly got on the back foot of the fight. Sapphy's strength was overwhelming and she was much faster than Alice. She hadn't even entered her beast transformation yet, but her power was just too much.

Every attack Alice threw was evaded and met with a heavy blow. Even though she was paradox, she was far stronger than Willow. Alice tried to slash her throat with the buzzsaws on her scepter, but she blocked with her scaly hand. With her other hand, she grabbed Alice.

"You know, you've interested me for a long time." Sapphy said into Alice's ear. "You are more of an anomaly than the actual anomalies."

Alice tried to swing her scepter at her again, but Sapphy smacked it away with her tail.

"You know, people like me, are not natural. Yerlren experiments on us so we can have most of our beast powers at all times. But you... you always have all of it. I wonder why. I'll have to ask the researchers to direct you."

She slammed Alice on the ground and kicked her into the side of the building. She then started to conduct fire out of the oxygenated hydrogen in the area. She threw the fireball at Alice and it caused an explosion that tore off a massive part of the building.

"Combustion is my active skill. All I do is ripple bonds between..." Sapphy let out a yawn. "Yeah. Boring science stuff."

Alice tried to get back up, but it was becoming hard for her to stand. She had taken copious amounts of damage, yet she had let to land a single hit on Sapphy. She tried to charge up a null orb and fired it at Sapphy. Sapphy was forced to dodge as the orb reduced all matter in it's path. Sapphy ran back up to Alice as she was still aching from firing the null orb and kneed her in the gut. She then grabbed her face and slammed her into the wall again.

"I've always enjoyed fighting anomalies more than lowly keepers. The keepers are all predicate because there are only so many different fighting styles and powers. But with anomalies, there are more possibilities than atoms in the universe. Anomalies aren't restricted by crystos weapons are their own stamina. They have no power system. They have no natural order. It's what makes them so fun to fight. And you... you are just as peculiar. I kind of turns me on." Sapphy slammed Alice into the ground. "But you're already starting to bore me. I was hoping you'd be stronger. Guess not.

Sapphy went for a kill shot, lunging her claws toward Alice's face.

Alice watched her life flash before her eyes.

Back when she was 7 years old, some men came to her house when her father was shooting up more drugs in his room. She opened the door for the men. Once they saw her, they pulled out pistols and tried to shoot her. Her father heard the door open and came out to see what was going on. When he saw the men, he told Alice to run, and then he began to fist-fight them.

While Alice ran, she was shot in her stomach. She crawled to her room. She hid inside her closet. She held the spot where she was shot and began hyperventilating. Her heart rate spiked and her vision became blurry.

Suddenly, the men kicked down her door, which nearly made her jump. Though, she restrained herself as much as possible, because if they heard her, she was dead. They began flipping the bed over and checking under her desk. She covered her mouth to muffle her breathing, but it only made her panic attack worse.

One of the men heard her breathing from inside the closet and began walking over to her. As he opened the closet door, Alice let out a scream. Then, the 3 men who entered her room had dropped to the ground and their heart rate stopped. Alice also heard a drop happen outside her room.

Later, Alice went outside to see what the noise was, carefully checking each corner. When she got downstairs, she saw a sight that forever traumatized her. Her father was laid out on the ground, just the same as the men were. Alice rushed over to her father, nudging him and begging him to wake up. For nearly an hour, she cried over her father's body, pleading with him to open his eyes, but he never did.

Back in the present, Sapphy's claws were about to pierce Alice's head. Suddenly, a shockwave from Alice knocked Sapphy backward and a glowing light enveloped her. When the light dissipated, she changed. Her ears had fluff in them and her tail went from slim and thin to big and bushy. Her fur became way darker and her hair grew longer. Glowing diamond-like markings also showed up all over her body and the spots glew a goldish-yellow.

Sapphy's suddenly felt a wave of fright was over her body. It was like death itself was standing before her. She began to hyperventilate. Even Star felt a chill go up his spine, which never happened before when he fought an opponent. This version of Alice was well beyond echo or aether class. Star knew that just by a glance at her.

He smirked, now interested in her even more. Sapphy fell to her knees before her, unable to move an inch. Star got in front of her, ripping off his kimono, revealing how ripped he was.

"Sapphy, let me take this one."

"Star, I-"

Suddenly, Star Roundhouse kicked Sapphy, knocking her out cold.

"I'm sorry. Did I allow you to speak in my presence? I said she's mine." Star turned over to Alice. "I'm sorry, I think we got off on the wrong foot."

Alice's eyes turned red, and her teeth sharpened. She growled at Star while foaming at the mouth. She was acting more like a wild beast than a human.

She charged in at Star, who blocked her punch, but the forces was so great, it sent him back a few meters. "Oh, how interesting." Alice roared at him and rushed in again. Star was about to retaliate, but suddenly, Taiyo came in front of Alice and stopped her. She tapped her shoulder, which instantly knocked Alice out.

Though, she was watching the whole time, she only stepped in when Star entered the equation. She knew Alice could potentially beat Sapphy, but there was no universe that Alice could ever hope to beat Star.

"Still messing with time, ay?" said Star. "Typical."

It was Taiyo's ability: eternity. It allowed her to manipulate time itself, as well as gave her foresight and teleportation. Though one of the strongest abilities, it's also one of the hardest to use and one of the rarest.

"I can't let Alice fight like this yet." responded Taiyo. "If she does, she could cause even more damage than the two of us."

"So... you're still trying to bring your plan to light, aren't you?"

"Yep. I won't stop till I've completed my goal. I won't get in your way, because frankly, I could care less about humans and anomalies. Torture and kill as many humans as you want. Just stay out of my way."

"You got it. Though, I do have one question. How's my replacement doing."

"Who?"

"Yoshi. I was kicked out of the family once I tried to kill Willow."

"Why did you do that anyways?"

"Simply because I felt like it. That's what a god does. I do what I want when I want."

"You ticking time bomb son of a bitch. Well, he's broken because of you. Thanks for that. You've only slowed my plans even more." Taiyo grabbed Alice and threw her over her back as Alice detransformed. "A B Cya around."
