Over the past few days, a lot had happened. He Shun suddenly found himself being visited by a man whom he was supposed to act as in a movie. Luan Xie came into his life like a storm and was now unable to leave. His film shooting had been postponed to next year because of controversy.
Amidst all of these, Luan Xie was concerned about only one thing—his golden bracelet. He Shun understood that it was gold and must have been expensive, but it was not like Luan Xie did not have money to make another one. He was from a royal family, after all.
He Shun approached the police as well for the golden bracelet, but he was asked an identification of the manufacturing of the golden bracelet if it belonged to him. Even if he told the police that it was Luan Xie's, the latter did not have an identity card to file a complaint.
In the end, Luan Xie decided to find it by himself. Of course, he couldn't find it without He Shun's help. He did not even know how technology worked. However, asking He Shun for help made Luan Xie feel embarrassed. It hurt his ego and pride to ask someone else for help.
It was either letting go of his ego or of the gold bracelet, and Luan Xie decided that his gold bracelet was more important than his ego. Besides, it was not like anyone from his kingdom would know. Luan Xie would go back soon.
"Look,"
He Shun literally looked at Luan Xie.
"I want to find my bracelet, and... I... need your... help with it," Luan Xie said, his hands tightening into fists as he avoided making eye contact.
He Shun sighed. This whole bracelet thing was causing him troubles. He had better things to do than to find someone else's golden bracelet, which the latter could buy easily again.
"Look,"
This time, it was Luan Xie's turn who finally gathered enough courage to look at He Shun in the eyes. There was nothing to be ashamed of asking for help.
"I am busy. I can't help you."
He Shun's tone of voice indicated that he was not going to change his decision any time sooner. It was final, and that was the last blow for Luan Xie.
"But I need to find that bracelet!" Luan Xie was not expecting that answer. He Shun did not even take a moment to reflect upon his request. It made Luan Xie feel more miserable that he let down of his pride for nothing. He felt frustrated.
"I have a job that I need to show my commitment to. I can't be wasting my time over a stupid gold bracelet!" He Shun snapped.
Luan Xie looked at He Shun, taken aback as his eyes showed a glimmer of pain, but it soon got replaced by anger. He lunged at He Shun, his hand gripping the latter's throat, choking the life out of him.
"It is not a stupid gold bracelet!"
He Shun's eyes widened in fear and shock. He grabbed Luan Xie's hand with both of his as he tried to push back the latter. He felt his breaths trembling and uneven, soon quickening. The sound of his heartbeats could be heard to his ears. His neck hurt, changing colour, showing the lack of blood flow.
"It is not stupid!"
Luan Xie did not stagger. He was more powerful and stronger than He Shun. His grip felt like brick houses, unable to push him away. His eyes went red, literally, and He Shun realised that what he saw last night was not a figment of his imagination. Luan Xie did change the colour of his eyes, from white and black to bloody red.
"I... w..will h..help you," He Shun managed to get out some words, but he did not know for sure if Luan Xie understood. He just hoped that he did and would let him free.
He Shun was feeling lightheaded at this point. He was not able to breathe, which made his vision blurry. He kept fighting back, trying to push Luan Xie away. This was the Luan Xie He Shun read about. This was the Luan Xie he was supposed to act as. The was the real Luan Xie.
Thankfully, Luan Xie's grip loosened on He Shun's neck. He pulled back slowly, not letting his guards down. He Shun fell back on his chair, taking in deep breaths between coughs. He was shaking terribly. He weakly drank a whole glass of water, which was on the table.
"What did you say?" Luan Xie's eyes were still red, but they were not as bloody as earlier. The colour seemed to have reduced a bit. However, it did not mean that Luan Xie was now okay—he was still angry.
He Shun took in a deep breath as he looked at Luan Xie carefully, not wanting to step in the wrong foot. "I said, I'll help you..."
Luan Xie stared at He Shun for a whole thirty seconds. The latter could be lying to him just to get out of this situation, but when he saw He Shun's trembling body, the redness in his eyes vanished, and a look of guilt appeared.
"Thank you, and sorry... for what I did. I was immature to take offence about something you did not know about."
To say He Shun was surprised was an understatement, but again, ever since Luan Xie came here, he kept defying the book and the script. It was as if there was another story behind Luan Xie's life that never got out.
"I am also sorry for talking with such insensitivity."
Luan Xie shook his head. "No, it is fine. Both of us made mistakes. Let us try not to repeat them next time and ask questions properly," he said.
He Shun let out a soft smile as he nodded. That sounded better for both of them to live harmoniously, especially now that there was no information about when Luan Xie could get back to his world.
"Yeah. That'd be better."
