A poor answer could offend Moie and lead to punishment. Under intense pressure, Wataru had to quickly gather his thoughts on how to respond.

He didn't want to give up Mariel. But if he didn't, everyone's lives could be at risk. His reason and emotions swung back and forth like a pendulum.

Wataru made up his mind, steeling himself as he suppressed his trembling body and bowed his head, ready to answer the interrogation.

"With all due respect, I must decline your terms."

"Master!"

"Do you understand what this means?"

"Yes… I apologize deeply. However, I wish to negotiate strictly with art pieces. I humbly ask for your forgiveness."
