Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: They Don’t Speak Chinese

If Wang Yan was the one to open up this new frontier, then Li Zhan was the classic "RMB warrior"—the one who threw money at every problem.

As the first employee of the Wang Yan Group, Li Zhan was having a much better time than his boss.

At the start, Wang Yan struggled to support a single tribe with careful budgeting, while Li Zhan started with a capital of 100 million yuan.

He bought food and vegetables by the ton.

Salt, sugar, purified water, canned goods suitable for long-term storage, compressed biscuits, red wine, white wine…

Various survival tools for the wilderness…

Small water purifiers, TVs, refrigerators…

Large mechanical tractors, planters, rotary tillers…

Pesticides, seeds…

Boxes of medicines, books, DVDs…

Li Zhan bought everything he could think of. He even included two boxes of condoms—this middle-aged man was thorough, considering every aspect of life.

However, he shouldn't get any ideas about the 18-year-old girls in the primitive tribe!

If there had been an RV available at the 4S stores in their third-tier city, he would have driven one straight off the lot.

As it was, Li Zhan also bought himself a high-end Dodge pickup.

Wang Yan was stunned when he saw the mountain of supplies piled up in the rented warehouse. "Li Zhan, did you empty out the supermarket warehouse?!"

Li Zhan wiped the sweat from his forehead and grinned. "Boss, we've got money. I can't treat myself poorly! Besides, you have no idea how poor these primitive people are. I'd be panicking if we weren't prepared…"

Wang Yan asked, "How much did all this cost?"

"Not much." Li Zhan waved his hand. "Less than 30 million."

"Thirty million?" Wang Yan looked at Li Zhan suspiciously. "You spent thirty million on this stuff?" His face darkened. "Lao Li, I trusted you with the money, and you—"

"Boss, what are you thinking?" Li Zhan replied with a sheepish grin. "You've been good to me; do you think I'd cheat you? I'm counting on you to take me to the top!" He continued with a laugh, "This stuff didn't cost thirty million. I used some of the money to buy you a villa in Longlin Manor—fully furnished, ready to move in. Here's the key. I also ordered a Ferrari supercar that should arrive in half a month. You're the god of another world; you shouldn't be slumming it on Earth…"

Li Zhan had a knack for reading people. Although Wang Yan hadn't shared much about his situation, Li Zhan could tell from his demeanor that Wang Yan wasn't someone who had experienced luxury.

So, he made the decisions for him, sure that Wang Yan wouldn't mind these little extras.

"Money is just a tool; if you don't have it, you can always make more." Li Zhan said, "Boss, if you want to enjoy life, you should. Besides, making money is easy for us!"

Is this how the rich feel?

Wang Yan took the villa key, thinking back to the years after graduation when he couldn't even afford a down payment. Now, his subordinate had chosen a luxury villa for him without a second thought. He couldn't help but smile wryly—life is truly absurd!

"Thank you," Wang Yan said with a smile, accepting Li Zhan's gesture. "But in the future, run these kinds of decisions by me first. No more acting on your own."

"No problem," Li Zhan replied with a salute, squinting and flashing an OK sign.

With the warehouse locked, Wang Yan and Li Zhan were left alone in the large space.

Wang Yan extended his hand, and a large space-time portal materialized in the middle of the warehouse, glowing with a faint deep blue light—both mysterious and beautiful.

Then, standing in front of the mountain of supplies, the two of them stared at each other, neither making a move.

Wang Yan glared at Li Zhan and urged, "Move it!"

"Me?" Li Zhan's eyes widened in surprise.

"No kidding—who's the boss here? If you don't move, do you expect me to do it?" Wang Yan retorted.

A drop of cold sweat slid down Li Zhan's forehead as he chuckled nervously. "Boss, stop joking. You're almighty—just wave your hand, and everything will be done. Why make me do it? There's so much stuff here, it'll take me until morning to finish!"

He paused, trembling as he asked, "Boss, don't tell me you don't have that much power on Earth…"

"A lot of nonsense..." Wang Yan scowled. "Aren't you supposed to be smart? Can't you figure this out?"

"Boss, I'm really committed to you!" Li Zhan grumbled, but he bent down to pick up a bag of rice and tossed it into the space-time portal.

Even though he knew Wang Yan wasn't as powerful on Earth, he still lacked confidence when facing him.

After all, Wang Yan still held his life in his hands.

No matter how ordinary Wang Yan seemed on Earth, killing him would be easy.

Not to mention, Li Zhan was relying on Wang Yan to make it big!

As Li Zhan struggled with the mountain of supplies like a tiny ant, Wang Yan frowned. It wasn't practical to rely on Li Zhan to carry so many supplies.

Even if he helped, it would still be a huge hassle.

With the amount of supplies they'd need in the future, they couldn't rely on just the two of them.

Hiring people was clearly out of the question!

That space-time portal wasn't exactly subtle—nobody would be dumb enough to miss it!

Staring at the glowing portal, Wang Yan suddenly slapped his forehead. He'd been so stupid! He had plenty of idle labor on his planet, so why not use it?

"Li Zhan, stop! You stay here; I'll get someone to carry the supplies," Wang Yan shouted, diving into the portal.

A moment later, more than twenty young men from the Alexander tribe marched out of the space-time portal in a neat line.

Wang Yan followed them out, smiled at Li Zhan, and snapped his fingers. "All done!"

Seeing the mountain of supplies, the primitive men cheered and, after a round of respectful salutes to Wang Yan, began carrying the supplies into the portal without needing any further instructions.

"Boss, you did that on purpose, didn't you?" Li Zhan asked bitterly, sweating profusely.

"I just remembered that I'm still new to this god business—cut me some slack," Wang Yan replied, slightly embarrassed as he nervously watched the primitive men move the supplies.

He couldn't help but be nervous.

Although he had high prestige among the primitive people, he had no superpowers on Earth and couldn't even understand what they were saying.

That meant the group of primitive men he'd brought over was completely out of control. If even one or two of them wandered off and were seen by humans, it would be a huge problem.

Wang Yan had already tested it. Although he'd marked Li Zhan, when they returned to Earth, the mark failed. His so-called mark was only a deterrent.

Luckily, in the simple minds of the primitive people, the majesty of their god was above all else. They obediently carried the supplies, and nothing went wrong.

But Li Zhan, now free from the heavy labor, noticed the problem. He frowned and cautiously asked, "Boss, what are they saying? I can't understand a word."

"I don't understand either!" Wang Yan replied offhandedly, focused on monitoring the primitives.

Sweat dripped from Li Zhan's forehead.

God knows, he hadn't even sweated this much when he was lugging bags of rice!

Li Zhan wiped his glasses nervously, the same thought looping in his mind: They don't speak Chinese… they don't speak Chinese…

"Boss, do you think we should set up a company here?" Li Zhan hesitated, then suggested, "Even though moving the supplies is sorted out, spending money like this is exhausting! Our world is huge, and we'll need tons of supplies in the future. If it's just the two of us buying everything, it'll attract unwanted attention. But if we set up a company, we'll have a legitimate reason to purchase everything, and it'll take some of the pressure off us…"

"I've thought about that too," Wang Yan nodded in agreement, "but it's not feasible right now. There's no suitable candidate, and there's too much to manage here."

"Me!" Li Zhan's eyes lit up. He slapped his chest and volunteered, "Boss, I can do it! I'm loyal, and I've got the skills…"

Wang Yan glanced back at him and coldly dismissed the idea. "You're needed elsewhere. The world needs you more."

What a joke!

This guy was already a loose cannon. It was bad enough dealing with him on Earth—no way was Wang Yan going to let him stay here unsupervised!
