Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 The Blind Date

Mrs. Lin not only showed Mr. Lin her supernatural abilities but also shared everything Lin Bing had said, with particular emphasis on the jade Buddha, which was rumored to possess space capabilities.

However, Mrs. Lin was still uncertain about the authenticity of Lin Bing's "dream," her voice growing quieter and more doubtful as she continued, "It's said to be something seen in a dream, but we don't know if it's true. We can only try to investigate."

Mrs. Lin was, however, fully convinced that the apocalypse was real, as evidenced by her water-based supernatural power.

Mr. Lin was somewhat shocked by all this talk of space, supernatural abilities, and the apocalypse. Hearing his wife mention these things the night before had prepared him somewhat, but discovering the space ability today was even more astonishing. Of course, the fact that his wife could produce water from her hands was the most shocking to him.

Despite his shock, Mr. Lin composed himself quickly and said calmly, "Let's not discuss this with others for now. We'll check out the jade Buddha first. If it truly has space abilities, then we can inform the elders."

After a moment's thought, he added, "I'll look for the jade Buddha. You stay at home; it's not safe outside."

Mrs. Lin nodded with a smile.

By the time Lin Bing left the hospital, it was already approaching noon. She specifically chose a well-reviewed restaurant, not concerned about the cost. Money was of no consequence now; she would have no use for it in a month.

Finding a parking spot, Lin Bing entered the restaurant. It was lunchtime, and the place was crowded. The dining area was full, and the private rooms were already occupied. Lin Bing chose a window seat on the first floor. The restaurant was worth the visit: elegant environment, and the waitstaff were attractive and cheerful.

After receiving the menu from the waiter, Lin Bing glanced through it. The pictures on the menu were mouthwatering! She ordered a large amount of food without hesitation, ignoring the surprised look from the waiter. She just nodded and smiled, signaling the waiter to prepare her meal.

During the peak dining time, the delivery of food was understandably slow.

After about half an hour, Lin Bing, bored, used the restaurant's Wi-Fi to check her posts. As soon as she logged in, she saw that her main account had been banned, and her posts were completely deleted.

It was clear that the internet monitor must have gone to bed early yesterday; the deletion speed during the day was incredibly fast.

Lin Bing searched for similar posts on the two websites but found none. She then exited those sites and turned to news websites, hoping to find some clues.

As she was engrossed in the news, a lazy, deep voice spoke from across the table, "How long are you going to play on your phone?"

Someone!

Lin Bing looked up in surprise to see a man sitting opposite her, wearing a baseball cap, leaning back with his arms crossed. His deep, dark eyes were fixed on her, and his thin lips were pressed into a tight line, his expression displeased.

Lin Bing grabbed her phone, which had nearly fallen to the floor in her shock, and stared at the man with a cold look. She couldn't sense his presence approaching; his movements were silent, suggesting he was highly skilled.

Squinting her eyes and giving a half-smile, she said, "I don't remember inviting anyone to join me for a meal." Was he here to steal her food?

At that moment, the waiter arrived with Lin Bing's dishes, one after another, until the table was almost overflowing. The waiter then said with slight regret, "Miss, the desserts and salads are ready, and we'll bring them as soon as there's space on the table. Enjoy your meal."

The waiter glanced thoughtfully at the man across from Lin Bing and thought to herself that the man must have a big appetite if he was accompanying her, given the amount of food ordered.

With the food now on the table, Lin Bing's territorial instincts kicked in, and she glared at the man, ready to kick him out. "Who are you, and what do you want? I don't remember knowing you."

The man looked up with a face that was both striking and infuriatingly handsome, almost too good-looking for words.

He had a meticulously sculpted face, like a Greek statue, with defined and deep features: thick brows, a prominent nose, and beautifully shaped lips, exuding nobility and elegance.

His eyes, deep and cold, were fixed on Lin Bing.

Although he was dressed in ordinary casual wear, it looked sophisticated on him, making him appear like a top model.

Lin Bing scrutinized his face, feeling a sense of familiarity, though she wasn't dazzled by his appearance. It was as if she had seen him somewhere before.

"Are you Miss Lin?" the man asked coldly, clearly annoyed by Lin Bing's star-struck gaze.

"I am," Lin Bing replied, still trying to recall where she had seen him before.

It came to her! Before her rebirth, during her last mission, she had encountered him when she almost died in the wilderness during an apocalypse. He was the one who saved her. No wonder she didn't recognize him immediately; he had looked very different then, with a deep scar running from his eye to his cheek, nearly splitting his face in two. It was an old injury, likely from a blade, and if it had been deeper, it would have reached his temple, certainly fatal.

No wonder she didn't recognize this life-saving hero immediately.

"Hello, I'm Lin Bing." Recognizing his identity and realizing he was a key ally in the apocalypse, Lin Bing greeted him warmly with a bright smile, thinking that this strong ally could make her life easier.

Unbeknownst to her, her smile only deepened the man's disdain. He disliked shameless and unrestrained women, especially those who focused solely on a man's appearance.

"You haven't eaten yet, let me treat you," Lin Bing said, though she was reluctant to part with her food. She had planned to take some home but no longer needed to.

Lin Bing reassured herself, "This man is worth the meal!"

"No need, I'll pay for this meal," the man—Han Li—said with a hint of irritation, looking at the delicious spread before him. He was indeed hungry and began to eat without further courtesy.

D*mn it!

Han Li regretted agreeing to the date. They had described her as the granddaughter of an old comrade, well-educated, gentle, respectful to elders, polite, and a good, understanding child. But looking at Lin Bing, who was elegantly and rapidly devouring the food, he thought to himself, "She's like a starving ghost!"

And to say she was a delicate beauty with a pure appearance? Han Li was truly speechless. It was all too far-fetched. They must have known he liked innocent and naive girls, so they exaggerated her description. But look at her appearance—does it have anything to do with purity and delicacy?

She was clearly stunning, radiant, and alluring!

This blind date was nothing like his ideal type, and Han Li was increasingly irritated with how his grandfather had described her.

By the end of the meal, Lin Bing still didn't understand why this man had come to "mooch" off her food. What a strange man, she thought.
