Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Silly and Cute

The two of them had no conversation during the meal, creating a rather awkward atmosphere.

Just after finishing their meal, a waitress arrived with a graceful and delicate young woman, who had a gentle smile and an air of tranquility. The waitress quickly left, almost as if she were fleeing, her mind racing with wild thoughts: Look, the wife is here to catch the husband with his mistress. It's going to be a scene; the security should keep an eye on this.

"You must be Han Li, Mr. Han's grandson," the elegant woman said as she approached Han Li with a smile.

Han Li nodded somewhat stiffly, glancing at Lin Bing across the table and then at the delicate young woman beside him. A troubling thought crossed his mind: he might have mistaken the person.

How embarrassing.

Upon hearing Han Li's response, the woman's smile grew more pronounced, her eyes twinkling as she introduced herself, "Hello, I'm Lin Keru, your date for today." She then cast a meaningful glance at Lin Bing, thinking to herself, such a world, where some girls who are pretty just shamelessly cling to men of good background and looks, without considering their own worth.

Lin Bing realized from Lin Keru's words that the man across from her was Han Li, and that today was supposed to be a blind date. But why was he sitting at her table instead of finding his date?

Lin Keru's gaze at Lin Bing was filled with disdain and contempt, which Lin Bing noticed clearly. Turning to the expressionless Han Li, she understood—Han Li didn't want the date, so he had found her as a shield to dissuade his actual date. After all, her appearance was presentable enough.

So that was it.

Lin Bing comprehended fully. Since this man was her savior, pretending to be his girlfriend was a minor issue.

Seeing the empty plates on the table, Lin Keru was irritated. She had only intended to arrive a bit late to test the man's character and attitude, but...

Lin Keru's frustration was clear, though she maintained a smile with a hint of anger.

She looked at Lin Bing and said softly, "Miss, may I ask why you are sitting with my date? This doesn't seem to be your place."

"My dear is happy to be with me and doesn't want to have dinner with you. Is that a problem?" Lin Bing said, forcing a saccharine tone. She was instantly disgusted by her own use of "my dear"—it made her shudder. She needed a drink to calm herself.

Lin Keru turned pale with anger upon hearing this. Her smile almost faded completely as she shot Lin Bing a resentful glare but then reluctantly looked back at the handsome Han Li. Didn't Grandpa say Han Li liked well-mannered, simple women and was single without past relationships? What was this fox doing here, with such a flashy appearance and pretentious attitude? Han Li's taste must be terrible!

Han Li was getting a headache. The old saying goes, three women make a play, and these two women were indeed putting on a show. If not for the inappropriate atmosphere, he might have fallen for Lin Keru at first sight. The chaotic and confrontational scene made him lose any romantic thoughts, and he just wanted to wrap things up and leave.

The spectacle of one man and two women attracted the attention of other diners, some even secretly taking photos with their phones, excited to see who would win in this contest. Both women were beautiful, making it quite a sight.

Checking the time, Lin Bing realized it was getting late and she was in a hurry. Deciding to cut through the mess, she looked at Lin Keru and said, "Since you like this seat so much, you can have it."

After saying this, Lin Bing stood up, walked elegantly to Han Li's side, and, holding his arm, said, "Dear, it's getting late. Let's settle the bill and go watch a movie this afternoon." To solidify the "couple" pretense, Lin Bing gave Lin Keru a challenging and smug look.

Lin Bing thought to herself: This is how it's done on TV—give a defiant look and avoid eye contact.

Han Li stood up as Lin Bing pulled him, but he remained still, only looking at Lin Keru with an apologetic expression. Han Li didn't seem to hear Lin Bing's suggestion about the movie, not contradicting her at all.

However, Lin Keru was too focused on Lin Bing's expression to notice Han Li's apology.

Seeing Han Li standing still and not moving, Lin Bing's mouth twitched. She thought, "Come on, I've helped you this much. Move already."

Yet Han Li just looked down at Lin Bing with a blank expression. It was clear he didn't understand her intentions. Of course, he felt even less favorable toward this pretentious, nagging, and flirtatious woman. However, while Lin Bing was holding his arm, he was distracted by her long, beautiful fingers, frowning but not letting go.

Hmm, strangely enough, this feeling wasn't unpleasant.

"Hey, let's get the bill and leave; it's too noisy here," Lin Bing whispered into Han Li's ear, her voice clear and pleasant. Of course, she didn't mention that she was in a hurry.

Flashes of light went off from the left and right.

After paying the bill, they left the restaurant.

Han Li paid, as it would have been awkward for him if Lin Bing had to cover the cost, given they had gone to the cashier together.

On the street, Lin Bing glanced around and led Han Li to a slightly concealed spot. It was still on the street, but the corner location was shielded by a building, and there weren't many passersby.

With a sigh of relief, Lin Bing let go of Han Li's arm, her eyes shining with a hint of triumph as she looked at him and said brightly, "I did you a huge favor, so remember it." You'll owe me one!

"What favor?" Han Li looked slightly dazed by Lin Bing's smile and asked awkwardly.

"Of course, I helped you get rid of your blind date! If I hadn't been here, you wouldn't have been able to shake off that formidable lady." Lin Bing widened her eyes and argued her point. This man would be a major figure in the future, and it's best if he owed her a favor. He didn't know she had saved his life before.

"Alright, I'm not going to keep talking. I'm in a hurry. Bye." Lin Bing's phone rang, and she saw it was the supermarket manager calling, probably to confirm the delivery time. It was almost two o'clock—how had the time passed so quickly!

As Lin Bing answered the call and headed toward her parking spot, Han Li watched her retreating figure and smiled softly, his gaze growing gentler. The movie thing was just talk. Did she think she had done him a huge favor, like she was a savior?

He had to admit, this woman was adorably silly.
