Florence, Italy
"Okay so, I feel like dad has finally grown tired of us and he wants to kill us both." Chris groaned, resting his head on the steering wheel. Scarlet applying eye liner to her eyes and her signature red lip stick on her lips, she grinned at her pathetic excuse of a brother.
"Are you scared? You know you can stay behind and let me handle it." Christopher raised his head from the wheel and glared at her. "The only reason I'm here is to protect you." He grumbled. Scarlet laughed at his words, "Oh really? You are going to protect me?" Scarlet teased, "You need protection yourself." She laughed.
Scarlet started being an assassin when she was fourteen. Nicholas started training her since she was 9 years old, became large at 16 when she was sent to kill a mayor of a town. Lucky, the mayor was actually a prick to people so the local towners were grateful that she ended his life, she was like an anti-villain.
"You know, disrupting CCTV surveillance is a real stress for me, wear you mask next time." Chris said reminding Scarlet on what happened in Las Vegas. "Okay dad, I'll wear my mask next time I want to kill someone." Scarlet rolled her eyes before stepping down from the car, "But give me a break, tonight is a charity gala, how do you expect me to wear a full body suit here? That's even more suspicious."
Chris scoffed before alighting from the car too, locking the door. They walked side by side into the hall. Moments later, Chris took two flute glasses filled with champagne and handed one to Scarlet. The lights dimmed as a figure walked to the center stage, a spotlight fixed on him before the lights became back to normal and everyone was greeted with a charming smile from the host, Mr. Roberto Cassonova.
Now I know why his wife wants him dead." Mr. Roberto's wife ordered for his death. She wants all his wealth and the only way for her to get his money is if he's dead. "He is a good man, I wonder why his wife wants him dead." Shortly after Chris spoke, Mr. Cassonova called his dearest wife to the stage, dedicating this entire event to her and expressed his love to her.
The sight made Scarlet roll her eyes, "Isn't it obvious? He clearly married a gold digger who is probably in her thirties who wants all of his wealth. He is blinded by her beauty and his love." She turned to Christopher, "Whatever you do, don't fall too deep in love, you won't be able to heal from it once she leaves you."
She was about to walk away but he held her back, "Must you kill this man?" Scarlet stared at him deadpanned, "I mean, can't we just leave him paralyzed?" Chris suggested. "Why would I want to make his life miserable? He would soon hit his sixties so if I make him paralyzed, he would still be living in a lie that his darling wife loves him. What if everyone abandons him when he needs help? I know that you wouldn't want that. Every death happens for a reason." She said quoting what Nicholas always told her when she was young. Then she excused herself.
Chris stared at his sister's retreating figure before shaking his head, "I'm more scared of her than dad and I bet he is too."
Scarlet walked to the mini bar and ordered a glass of tequila was about to walk away when she bumped into someone, almost spilling her drink on her, "Watch you're going!" She yelled then quickly composed herself when she saw who bumped into her.
"Oh, I… My deepest apologies sir." She said, entering into character. "Oh no worries dear. It was my fault, I was focusing on my lovely wife." He chuckled, still staring at his wife. Scarlet rolled her eyes before forcing a smile.
"You know, I don't believe in true love. It's more like a fake thing to me." Scarlet said following Roberto's line of sight. She heard Roberto chuckle next to her, "I think you haven't met the right one yet, love is the strongest thing in the world that can't easily be broken." He said softly, not taking his eyes off his wife who was attending to some guest.
"That's not true. If any emotion that can take the spot of being the strongest, then it has to be anger. It can make you do what you never imagined doing." She retarded.
He turned to her, "I've met two particular people whose love was even stronger than mine." "Was? Are the lovebirds divided today?" Scarlet asked with a raised brow. "He was a very good friend of mine, he loved his wife so much. When I was younger and single, I thought falling in love was a completely waste of time. Well that's what I thought before my dearest friend had a daughter with his wife. Her name was Savannah, and when I saw her, something lighted in me. Something like hope. I wanted what my friend had."
"His daughter?" Scarlet asked in confusion. Roberto burst into laughter, "No, I wanted a family like his. I became very envious of what he had. Then I met the love of my life a few years back."
"What happened to your friend? Is he still with his wife?" Scarlet asked. "Sadly he passed away with his wife in a car accident." "And his daughter?" "She was also involved in the accident too but he body was nowhere to be found. If she's still alive, I hope I can find her." He sighed before excusing himself to go to his wife.
Scarlet stared at him for a moment, "I wonder what would kill you first, your love for her, or your stubbornness." She walked to the ladies restroom and changed into her full body suit and wore her mask. A call came into her Bluetooth earpiece, "Yeah?" She said answering the call.
"He is going home right now. Hurry up and get the job done. I've disconnected the halls surveillance system so get going."
She walked out of the toilet stall and she met a lady washing her hands at the sink the woman noticed Scarlet staring awkwardly at her, "Nice body suit." The lady complimented. "Thanks." Scarlet answered before rushing out of the restroom.
She walked to her motorcycle that was sent to the gala. She followed Roberto's car till they got to his house. His wife wore an annoyed look when she got down from the car.
"Why didn't she get the job done at the event? And I have paid her a huge sum of money." She grumbled in frustration. Although she has no idea on how Scarlet Witch looks like she really wanted her 'husband' dead at the gala.
Scarlet parked her motorcycle away from Roberto's house. She waited for them to enter the house but before he could even get off from her motorcycle, the house blew up.
She stopped dead in her tracks, her eyes widened in shock. She stared at the house that crumbled into a mass of rock before she rushed over to the house. She ran over to Roberto's body, and she felt for a pulse. It was faint but he was still alive. Getting up she went to Mrs. Cassonova's body and checked for her pulse but couldn't find one.
"Well, karma is a bitch isn't it?" She said to herself. She stood up again and decided to live them alone and walk away but she stopped in her tracks when she heard Roberto groaning in pain. Her mind went back to what Chris said and she let out a heavy sigh.
"I hope I don't regret this." She said before she pulled out her phone and called the ambulance to come pick him up, then she walked away.
Riding back to her hotel, Scarlet was lost in her thoughts, 'Who the hell did that? Once I find out the fucker who intervened in my job I'm going to…' Her thoughts were disrupted when a call from Chris sounded through her Bluetooth earphones.
"Well, that was fast." Chris said. "What?" Scarlet replied, "That has to be your faster kill that you've ever done. I'm impressed." She was about to reply that she wasn't the one but decided against it. "I'm coming to the hotel, bring comfortable clothes for me to change into. Hang up."
After the call Scarlett was wondered why she saved Roberto' life, "Am I suddenly growing soft? Eww."
