The Obsidian Ridge Mine that was a chaos filled battleground, the shadows teeming with madness from of bandit cries echoing through them. The mine-head underbelly was now a discrete hold with corralled crates of loot and the makeshift hand-tools used by banditos gone rogue. The light from the torches danced and created an eerie pattern on the walls, it was a very tensed feeling that filled in…
Jarec crouched near the front door, all his senses alert. The bandits had made it their territory to co-opt the natural bounty of this position of power. It was an easy mission for him —drive them out and return the mine. But he had to do it alone, with the freshly forming abilities as a Monus Gifted. Con Velaris, haughty as ever did not even stop his hawking or follow any closer but watched the entire time from a vantage point some untold distance away with an expression that she could only read at deep amusement…or maybe it was skepticism.
"Do you even know what you are dealing with? Velaris had a voice like mocking velvet. Those bandits with a recent prize think they're unbeatable. They are very cocky, they belittle you but have underestimated.
Jarec's heart pounded in his chest as he slipped through the darkness, practicing steady breaths. Chaos Surge, his newly-found ability, is the only weapon at his disposable. He was getting good at it, if still unsteady. He created chaos, harnessed the unpredictable and dangerous along with his solemn sense of security.
Next he got to the edge of their camp unfortunately stacked with crates. His eyes scanned the area, noticing how fuckin' lazy his bandits had gotten in all their reclining glory. They were celebrating their recent triumph; half-glorying and slightly barricaded in, surrounding whatever treasures they held. Jarec only wanted to break through their stagnation, strike fast but hard and his chaotic power would be an added bonus.
Jarec could hear bits of their conversation as he set himself. 'Looks like a safe bet'in this room,' one of the bandits boasted. "we Have all the Wealth We need. We are never going to go away — no one is pushing us out of here.
Another grunted in agreement. We need to be prepared for anyone who might try. And we might as well have it given how many years of production life is left in this mine.
Jarec steeled himself. He was even more determined than ever by the bandits' arrogance. He needed to act quickly. He took a deep breath trying to concentrate on [Chaos Surge]. It was a moment for him to challenge his new powers in actual combat, one that he had to make count
He moved closer, silently creeping up ward. News in Brief The bandits never saw him with so much as an arrow for distraction. It was good spot for Jarec, he hid behind some barrels with a clear vantage point. Taking a deep breath, he activated the skill [Chaos Surge] and released it on the bandit group closest to him.
It was like the chaotic energy surged from his fingers, crackling and pulsing as he shot it out in a burst of disorientating force. They took the full force of an explosion to which they had been totally alien, and it threw them in all directions. The confusion caused by the blast quickly broke up their formation.
"Who's there?" Stand and be counted,a voice yelled, a soldier got to his feet. "Get ready!"
The camp erupted into chaos. The bandits quickly armed themselves and looked for from where the attack came. Jarec disappeared into the shadows, feeding off of their likely confusion to zero in on another. As he looked around, his heart raced while in motion with every [ Chaos Surge] burned and eaten into the end but Damian could not afford to let up.
A barrel-chested thug with a scarred face ran at Jarec, brandishing an evil-looking club. Jarec nodded, and had barely time to react. So, he concentrated on [Chaos Surge], giving a measured blow of chaos.
You're pathetic!" Velaris responded from where he was perched. " "But the infinite rat knows a way, I suppose.
Jarec grimaced, resisting the urge to collapse in exhaustion. He needed[Chaos Surge] at a higher level, asap. He pushed himself forward, now driven by purpose as he blasted bursts of chaotic energy to upset and disorient the bandits. He was improving his control, but with every attack he felt as if someone had stuck their hand into him and twisted it around.
The hapless bandit was now seriously flagging. Their ranks were shattered by Jarec's wild attacks. Chaos Surge – **Each chaotic burst of energy bore down upon their locations again, each one targeted at undermining where they were and affording him opportunities**.
Jarec began to notice the patterns in the chaos as he battled. He could sense the bandits, and with his power anticipate their movements. His aim became more certain, and with confidence he delivered verb after concussive verb. The bold, cavalier bandits now seemed fearful and exasperated.
When all seemed lost a shadow stepped up. The leader of the bandits, wearing a set of dark and adorned armor slashing with a long menancing blade marched his way. Everywhere, his presence loomed and the atmosphere hummed with evil.
Jarec dropped his heart when he recognized the aura of their leader. There as a ordinary bandit, it was the leader that was the Monus Gifted. The leader radiated swirling waves of dark energy that seemed to twist and distort the very air around him.
The bandit leader turned his eyes to Jarec. You are the one stirring up all of this mischief, were his words in a voice so cold and full of malice. "Was looking forwards to getting back at you.
Jarec sucked in a short breath. Bandits he had faced before, but this was something of a new order. He was dwarfed by the appearance of their leader, inescapably reminded that he was just a puppet. The words, sounding bitter to Velaris interrupted the tension. "This is it. The leader of these bandits is a Monus Gifted. "Your job will be to make it happen.
Jarec took a deep breath, no matter how much he wanted to keep the news hidden from himself only. And then he concentrated on [Chaos Surge], preparing for the showdown. The leader's imposing aura was encompassed by the raging chaos it rolled off of him, acting as a shield. He had to be intelligent, carefully applying his strength without overstepping.
The chieftain hoisted up his blade, and the feeling in air sounded to crackly anticipation. The leader's voice was cold and sinister as he said, "Be ready. "Like no battle we have ever fought."
The bandit leader stepped forward, his blade shining in the torchlight as Jarec prepared himself. The inevitable clash between Jarec and the leader was upon them, though never had those stakes been higher. It was now on him to see where the mine would fall, Jarec's future hang in wait and his very life lay at stake as a war for them all approached.
Jarec was already feeling the enormity of this moment as their leader stepped forward to undertake his task. He was clearly over his head, but he had something to prove. The chaotic energy of [Chaos Surge] crackled around him, wild and untamed in preparation for the strongest enemy he had every faced.
Everything was all about to over, the fate of mine had come down in hands as Jarec and bandit leader prepares for their confrontation. It was a collision that had now become inevitable and the result would determine the future of all concerned.
