Chapter 33 - The Demon’s Playground

Sam finally managed to land a deadly slash on Luna. It had taken everything he had, leaving him utterly drained and unable to move. For a fleeting moment, he believed he had won. But that hope quickly turned to despair.

Luna began to heal herself effortlessly, her wounds closing as if they had never existed. She chuckled darkly, "You got me there for a moment. I almost thought I would lose. But your water magic is like a squirt gun compared to my blood magic. Now, prepare to die."

As she moved in for the kill, Sam's life flashed before his eyes. He remembered dying in his past life, unable to protect his family. He was so close to uncovering his true identity in this second chance at life, but now he was on the brink of losing everything once again. Sadness overwhelmed him, but just as despair began to take hold, something stirred within him.

Before he knew it, he lost consciousness.

Luna was poised to strike when suddenly, dark shadows erupted from Sam's body, swirling around him like a storm. Luna, taken aback, stepped away, her confidence wavering.

Sam's body slowly rose, but when he opened his eyes, they weren't red anymore—they were pure black. It wasn't Sam standing there now; it was the demon inside him.

Luna hesitated, "What… what happened to you?"

The demon looked around, then down at himself as if inspecting a new outfit. "What do you mean?" he said, more to himself than to her. He then frowned, seemingly annoyed. "Really? You only let me out when this brat's about to kick the bucket? Come on, that's just unfair!"

Luna blinked in confusion. "Who… who are you talking to?"

The demon finally seemed to notice her again. "Oh, sorry, where are my manners? Hey, are you his—I mean, my—enemy?" He asked, his tone as casual as if he were discussing the weather.

Luna, unsure of how to respond, nodded slowly, "Y-yes?"

The demon grinned. "Well, look at that! This kid picks fights with cute girls now? I must have been asleep for too long. Seriously though, you're way too pretty to be all covered in blood like that. What's up with that, by the way? Are you on your period or something?"

Luna's face flushed with anger. "What the hell is wrong with you?! Do you think you stand a chance against me?"

The demon's smile faded, replaced by a look of exaggerated shock. "Who, me? No chance against you? Oh, sweetie, you have no idea what you're dealing with." He stepped forward, and the sea of blood beneath them turned pitch black. Massive shadow creatures with glowing white eyes materialized around him, towering over everything.

"Do you know who I am?" he said, his voice now carrying an edge of menace.

Luna, determined not to be intimidated, tried to attack him with her blood magic, but as soon as it got near him, it dissolved into shadow, evaporating into the air.

"Oh, you can manipulate blood?" the demon asked with mock curiosity. "Neat trick. But what happens if you don't have any blood left?"

Luna tried to focus, but the demon's overwhelming presence made it difficult. She gathered her strength, sending a wave of blood tendrils at him. The tendrils surged forward, aiming to pierce him from all sides.

The demon yawned, almost bored, as he casually waved a hand. The blood tendrils turned black mid-air, crumbling into ash before they could reach him.

"Is that all you've got? Come on, entertain me a little," he said with a playful smirk. "Here, let me show you how it's done."

With a flick of his wrist, the shadows on the ground surged upwards, forming a massive clawed hand that slammed down towards Luna. She barely managed to dodge, but the shockwave sent her sprawling across the battlefield. Before she could recover, the shadow hand grabbed her, lifting her off the ground effortlessly.

The demon tilted his head, observing her struggle with mild interest. "You know, I've always wondered—what happens if you squeeze too hard? Let's find out."

The shadow hand began to tighten around Luna, crushing her slowly. She gasped for breath, her bones creaking under the pressure. But just as she thought she was done for, the demon sighed and released her.

"Ah, but what's the fun in ending it so quickly? I'd rather watch you squirm a bit more," he said, his tone darkly amused.

Luna hit the ground hard, gasping for air. She was trembling, her confidence shattered. But she wasn't ready to give up. Drawing on the last reserves of her power, she unleashed a torrent of blood magic, turning the entire battlefield into a crimson storm.

The demon laughed, a deep, echoing sound that sent chills down her spine. "That's more like it! A little fight before you die—how exciting!"

He walked through the storm of blood as if it were nothing, the shadows swirling protectively around him. Every drop of blood that came near him evaporated into black mist. He moved closer, his presence growing more oppressive with every step.

Luna's attacks grew more frantic, but the demon simply dodged or absorbed every blow with ease. He was toying with her, enjoying the fear in her eyes.

Finally, she was out of options. Luna fell to her knees, exhausted, her energy completely drained.

The demon stood over her, looking almost disappointed. "You really should have listened to me earlier. You had a chance to die gracefully. But now…" He knelt down, his shadowy form towering over her. "Now you've made me work for it. And that means I'm going to enjoy this."

He gently cupped her chin with one shadowy hand, forcing her to look into his pitch-black eyes. "Here's how this is going to go. You're going to take that sword of yours, cut off your own head, and put it on the ground. Then, you're going to die. Simple enough, right?"

Luna's eyes widened in horror. "You… you're insane…"

The demon grinned, showing a hint of sharp, inhuman teeth. "Oh, sweetheart, I'm much worse than that."

He stood up, taking a step back. "Go on, then. Do it. Or do I have to help you?"

Luna, desperate and terrified, tried to summon her blood magic one last time, but her efforts were in vain. The shadows around her tightened, leaving her no escape.

The demon sighed, shaking his head. "I warned you."

With a snap of his fingers, the shadows surged into Luna's body, invading every inch of her. She screamed in agony, her body twisting and contorting as the shadows consumed her from the inside out. Her once beautiful form decayed into a grotesque, lifeless husk, collapsing onto the ground in a heap.

The demon looked down at her with mild disgust. "See what happens when you don't listen? I told you to just go ahead and die nicely. Now look at your face. What a waste."

He shook his head and turned away, as if bored. Then, with a serious expression, he muttered to himself, "One down, one to go. Let's get this over with, I'm missing my nap time."
