Chapter 111 - Agreement

Back in Kili city...

When Natalie had confirmed the name of the country that the contact that Jean had contacted her with, she became restless.

Whimland was the country that was set aside by the government for the powerful individuals that were banned from Lent. Initially, this country was part of lent but it was later separated from it when the clash between the mundanes and the powerful individuals arose.

It was mainly set aside for the purpose of preventing the powerful individuals from mixing with the mundanes for peace to reign.

The reason this part was considered suitable for them, was because it had harsh environment and weather conditions like extreme cold that only the bodies of the powerful individuals could resist.

This part was also inhabited by extraordinary beasts that could pose extreme danger to the mundanes in case the area was left unoccupied. So, the presence of the powerful individuals in the area was important as they could be useful in resisting such beasts from breaking into the residents of the mundanes.

Since there was a fracture between the two sides, it would have been easy for the powerful individuals to allow the beasts attack the mundanes. But since the beasts were their main source of food in the area, there was no way they would allow such to happen since most of the beasts could have been killed by the faction of powerful individuals protecting the mundanes, and thus reducing their main source of food.

Even if it was the government's plan to make this part of Lent the home for the powerful individuals, the same shared the same thought since this part perfectly suited them as it had the necessities for the guys to increase their powers.

They believed in growing stronger and this was the rule that governed Whimland. If you aren't striving to become stronger then be prepared to serve others.

This was the knowledge that only a few people in Lent knew about. This information was mainly concealed from Lent's population for the sake of mitigating tension that might come with such information.

Most people would just feel that they were bordering a furnace of fire that could spell their doom at any moment. And this was what the government was trying to avoid.

Although a good number of the population knew of the existence of the powerful individuals but it was only a handful of the population that knew their real location.

One of the things that made Lent's population unaware of the real location of the inhabitants of Whimland, was because the country was labelled just as the rest of the countries. But there was a rule that prevented people from either of the countries from moving between the two countries, unless permeated by the governments from both sides.

Since Whimland ruled itself, it also had its own hierarchy of powers among the rulers. So, the leaders from both sides came up with a rule that prohibited random movement of people between the two countries.

This was mainly done to protect Lent inhabitants from these individuals. Although there were other countries with such powerful individuals, Whimland was the most feared one since it was known for spawning the most powerful individuals.

Since the two countries bordered each other, the two governments came up with a plan of controlling their borders in order to prevent unnecessary movements between the two countries.

Although this task could have looked impossible, considering how powerful the Whimland inhabitants were, both governments deployed the best powerful individuals that were the most feared among the powerful individuals. These were the ones in charge of controlling the borders.

Albeit, Lent inhabitants would have liked to visit Whimland, the harsh weather conditions in the country were enough to keep them at bay. So, most of them even doubted if the country was occupied by people as all they thought was that it was only the beasts that would withstand such harsh conditions.

What even made it easy to control the movement of people between the two countries, it was that the two countries were separated by a deep sea that even a ship couldn't move along.

With the presence of the sea, this only confirmed that in case the beasts from Whimland were to attack Lent, then they had to fly over it. So, only flying creatures would have made this fate a success, or even the swimmers.

So, countrymen from either side barely met. And even if they met, it could have been difficult for Lent inhabitants to identify the others since they just seemed like normal people.

Due to the harsh weather conditions in Whimland, most of Lent's population avoided visiting the country at their own will, and this made it easy for the governments from either sides to deploy their border control policies.

Now, Natalie was among the few individuals from Lent that knew the nature of the inhabitants of Whimland. This was the reason she was worried as soon as she got a hint that his son might be trapped in the country.

During this moment, she was on her way to Bruin's home. She could have contacted the guy, but the depth of the matter couldn't allow that to happen. It was the next day after the incident of her finding out the name that the contact was linked to.

Now turning to her right and stopping in her steps, Natalie let out a sigh before gazing at the red gate towering seven feet in front of her. It was twelve feet wide and had some fancy designs and patterns that boosted its beauty. It was forged from adamant steel just as the one at Natalie's home.

This was the gate leading to Bruin Dek's home. She had arrived.

Since this place was at a stone throw distance from Natalie's home, all she needed to get here was just to track.

Without further hesitations, she stepped forward and knocked at the gate.

In the next moment, the gate swung open and s security man stepped out. After exchanging some greeting, the security man directed her into the compound since they were already acquaintances. This was not her first time visiting Bruin's home.

The house in the compound was relatively bigger as compared to Natalie's. It was painted in paints of apple green and white which blended well with the surroundings. It was also a one storey building with a pouch extension at the main entrance.

The had walkways that were tiled that cut across well trimmed lawns and grasses that ran through the compound. A concrete wall looped around the compound obstructing people from outside the compound from prying on what was contained in it. Along the perimeter wall, there were some flowering plants that were planted all around the compound with a few trees towering at regular spots along the wall.

The scenery was full of life.

As soon as Natalie stepped in the compound, she didn't waste even a single second and walked straight to the main entrance.

The two had agreed to meet here to have their discussion. Natalie wanted Bruin to contribute to the idea of retrieving the boys from Whimland, in case they were there as the information suggested. This matter was urgent since the lives of Axel and Jean were at stake as far as it was Whimland that they were.

Just as she arrived at the porch and was about to knock at the varnished wooden door in front of her, the door flanged open and Bruin walked through it before stopping right in front of her.

"I hope there are some positives."

Bruin said in a hushed tone.

Nodding in response, Natalie walked past Bruin and entered the house.

A little bit embarrassed, Bruin looked around, pursed his lips and the followed her inside.

The discussion that they were going to contact was private, so, Bruin had already instructed never to let anyone in the moment Natalie enters the compound. Although the house was soundproof, Bruin still did this as a precaution. After all, his son's safety was more important than any other thing.

Now seated across from each other in the living room. Bruin Dek gave Natalie a questioning look.

Just at that moment, Natalie heaved a sigh before pulling out her cellphone and a piece of paper from her purse.

Immediately Bruin saw this, he directed his gaze at the two items on top of the table. Just at that moment, he noticed a familiar map traced on the piece of paper.

The map was a representation of Lent and Whimland. Just at that moment, Natalie resounded.

"The contact is from Whimland."

As soon as Bruin heard this, he shuddered as his jaw dropped.

"That dangerous place?!"

Bruin blurted out before quickly covering his mouth in embarrassment.

"Now I am made to believe that this was indeed a kidnap. Else who in his right senses will go to such harsh environment? It is suicidal, or you didn't warn your son against visiting the place?"

Lingering for a moment, Natalie replied.

"Why would I do that when he already knew. Information about the harshness of the place is clearly stated and explained in their curriculum at school."

Just at that moment, Bruin scratched his head.

"How did I even forget of such? But now... How are we doing to extract them from the place if it happens that they are still there?"

Suddenly, there was a moment of silence.

"That's the main reason I am here for your advice. This is going to be a big test for us. But we have to remember that there are some chances that the two might not be together or perhaps not in the country till this moment."

Suddenly, Bruin's mood darkened.
