Five male teachers immediately leapt to action and started leading them away.
"Ah, sorry to interrupt. Feng Xia here was actually trying to help me. We're pretty good friends." Jordan Lin said quietly as a female teacher approached her to bring her away as well.
"Oh, of course she was. Good job, Feng Xia. You're a girl and you even dared to go against the five bullies." The female teacher smiled at her. "You're very brave!"
The female teacher had no idea that Feng Xia was actually the root cause for all the drama going on at that moment.
"It was nothing, Miss Lopez. I uh, merely recalled what Mr Chang taught us last week. To bravely stand against the bullies is a form of service to society!" Feng Xia said in a righteous voice before turning to look at Mr Walza with her beautiful and clear eyes.
As a third year student, Feng Xia was very clear just how important the Mayor's visit was. Whether or not the school's budget would be cut or expended depended entirely on the Mayor's impression!.
And as such, she was trying her best to boost the image of the school a little bit.
"Indeed! Mr Chang has a heart for the youths! I remember his words very clearly. Give me a generation of youths, and I will change the world! He is extremely protective of us." Jordan Lin was a smart dude, and he immediately figured out what Feng Xia was trying to do. So he chipped in and even directly attributed Vladimir Lenin's world famous quote to Mr Chang.
"Mr Chang really said that?" Mr Walza said in surprise.
"Yes, he also said "We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future." Mr Chang is an inspiration to us all!" Jordan Lin directly quoted Franklin D Roosevelt this time!
"Well said! Very well said! Mr Chang, you may be a massive money grubber, but your heart for our nation's youth is impressive. Inspiring! Hahaha. Let us go to this event you have planned. Now I am looking forward to what sort of powerful performances the youth under your visionary guidance can show me!"
"Ah? Hahaha! Yes! Yes! Hahahaha! Come this way Mr Walza! Please!" Mr Chang was pleasantly surprised and gave Feng Xia and Jordan Lin a massive smile before leading the Mayor and his entourage into the school compound!
"You two…" Mr Gunther could only shake his head speechlessly at them.
On one hand he was completely convinced that Mr Chang said no such thing, and that the two clowns before him at that moment were lying through their teeth!
But on the other hand, they had saved Mr Chang's job as well as the school's reputation.
They did a good job. Great job even!
"Heheheh. Jordan, I had no idea that you're also so full of shit… Like me! But those words you said earlier… they were truly powerful. How did you come up with it?" Feng Xia said to him with a laugh.
"Uh, I just… expressed what's in my heart I guess? Like you, I was panicking." Jordan Lin spouted even more bullshit. "Thankfully my heart has always been full of thoughts about our country and how to change the world. Hahaha!"
"That's… probably right. You two had never seen the Mayor before, and you were probably very nervous. And in such pressing situations, human beings are like a tube of toothpaste. Whatever is within will be squeezed out." Mr Gunther ate up Jordan Lin's bullshit completely and nodded sagely.
"Yes, yes indeed." Jordan Lin agreed happily.
"Anyway. Go into the school hall and prepare for your performances. Jordan, you will need to take Gordon's part. Can you do it? Just play a few more songs and fill up 10 minutes of time." Mr Gunther instructed them.
"Yes sir." Both of them quickly made their way into the school.
Play the piano? Heh! I am a true blue Asian teenager! I can play a dozen instruments!
Violin? Check.
Drum? Check.
Flute? Check.
Guitar? Check.
And the piano? Che- no. Double check!
There was no Beethoven and Mozart in this world, right?
Then, let me bring forth… Fur Elise! Turkish March!
And oh, oh!
Dr D.R.E!!
Prepare to be astounded!
A few minutes later, Jordan Lin was backstage, waiting to be called out.
Mr Chang was still halfway through his opening speech.
That sneaky bugger actually managed to use both the quotes Jordan Lin "gave" him earlier in his speech!
"He better remember that he owes me one." Jordan Lin muttered to himself. "No, not one. Two. I gave him two very powerful quotes!"
He couldn't help but sigh deeply.
"I actually remember this performance all those years ago. I played the Fur Elise and nobody even clapped after I was done. It was such an overplayed song. I wonder how the students and teachers will react today.
They should be pretty amazed by the song, right? I remember listening to Fur Elise for the first time… Wait. Do I remember? How old was I? One year old? Two? Ah forget it. Let's just play the three songs properly.
I'll open with Still Dre, go on to Fur Elise and end with Mozart's Turkish March.
It should be pretty cool."
"Are you nervous?" Feng Xia suddenly appeared next to him and asked him.
After the earlier incident, she somehow considered Jordan Lin as a friend, and found it completely normal to strike up a conversation with him.
"Hey. Nervous? Ha! Of course not. It's just playing the piano isn't it? Everybody can do it." Jordan Lin laughed.
"Pffft. You even know how to joke right now? If everybody can play the piano, then why would you, a mere freshman, be the one to play?" Feng Xia shook her head lightly. "Pianos are just too difficult to play! Not many people own pianos in this world."
"Huh? What are you talking about? Not many people own pianos? You mean you don't know how to play the piano?" Jordan Lin felt slightly confused by her words.
