Chapter 1 - I Can Split My Soul

Dylan looked around him with curiosity. He didn't know where the fuck he was. One moment, he was watching in his room all alone. Another moment, he was in what seems to be a damned forest!

"Where the fuck am I now? Is it possible that I've got kidnapped and thrown somewhere?"

Dylan punched the tree in frustration only to feel the burning pain. His face almost turned blue and he felt crying. 'M*therfucker! So I'm not dreaming!'

He retracted his fist and looked at the traces of blood with regret. How stupid!

Just like that, Dylan walked for two hours with constant vigilance. Who knows if the culprits are still around? Of course, he wasn't sure if someone truly threw him to the forest but it's the only logical conclusion he could think of...

Suddenly, a mosquito landed on Dylan's nose. An intense urge to slap it flowed through his whole being. 'Slap it or not?'

His gaze naturally focused on the mosquito. At such proximity, he was confident that could slap it to death. But it would also mean that he would slap himself.

Just as he was about to do it. Dylan saw a floating text atop the mosquito. It says level 1.

Dylan was shocked. Level 1? Isn't this shit only appearing in games!?

He blinked twice and began to doubt his vision. However, the level 1 display was still visible along with a green bar with 10 hp written beside it.

Dylan held his breath and an absurd thought appeared in his mind. Dylan was a geek who did nothing but read web novels and watch anime. Now, as a man of a culture, he had wild speculation.

'Could it be I got transmigrated to a game world!?'

When he thought of this, he quickly shook his head. That's too unreasonable right!?

Suddenly, a screen appeared in Dylan's vision as he accidentally looked at the mosquito again. It was a panel like in those RPG games.

[Would you like to split your soul and possess the mosquito? Yes/No.]

Yes!

Dylan unconsciously blurted. Then, he realized what he did. 'Fuck no!'

But it was too late...

....

Just like that, a wisp of blue light came out from Dylan's mouth and shot toward the mosquito on his nose. Dylan was horrified.

It's over! The damned thing really split his soul!? Is that blue light fragment of his soul? What would happen to him now? Would he die?

Dylan was aware of how sensitive things related to the soul were. Splitting soul? Isn't that practically suicide?

Dylan closed his eyes and resigned himself to fate, waiting for his doom.

One second...

Two seconds...

Three seconds...

Dylan opened his eyes. 'Nothing happened?'

He felt himself careful but there was no weakness or anything harmful that could feel. Contrary to it, he could feel an intimate connection with the mosquito on his nose. It was as if they were somehow connected.

Instinctively, David closed his eyes again and felt that he could share access to the sense of the mosquito. Then, when he opened his eyes again, his heart almost jumped.

His perspective changed! He was now looking at a big nose. The mosquito flew to the sky, flapped the small wings behind him which it could do by instinct, and flew into the air. He looked below and saw his body.

'I became a mosquito??' Dylan thought weirdly. Strangely, he couldn't seem to control the body, he was only an spectator.

The only thing he has is the memory of the mosquito. How was it born... How it sucked the blood of countless different animals. What places did it rea? h. Where it mated. How unlucky it was. Etc...

Dylan sighed. He didn't expect the life of a mosquito to be so colorful. If there's a book. He could now write 'I got reincarnated as a mosquito.

Actually, he couldn't really control the body of the mosquito. It was only shared senses. Meaning, he could see what it could see. Smell and hear what it could hear. However, he couldn't control its action.

If so, who's the one controlling it? It was Dylan's soul fragment. Well, it's essentially also him. Think of it like a clone. It has the same personality and essence of Dylan. A Dylan with no memories in the body of the mosquito. It couldn't remember the memories of human Dylan allowing it to live as a mosquito wholeheartedly.

Unlike the human Dylan, the mosquito Dylan only follows its instinct just like how a mosquito would normally do. After all, the brain of the mosquito was too tiny to allow rational thinking.

Human Dylan shared senses with the mosquito to enjoy the feeling of flying for two minutes. Although he's not the one controlling the body. It could still feel what it could feel due to the shared senses. It gave him the illusion that he was the one flying.

Dylan couldn't help but chuckle. No matter what. The mosquito is also him. The two of them are one and the same.

Under the eyes of the mosquito, everything looks black and white. It's not the same vision as humans so it made Human Dylan who was in such perspective feel novel.

'It's time to get back to my body.' Dylan closed his eyes.

When he opened his eyes again, he was back to his human body.

Dylan watched his mosquito self fly around him. 'What a strange feeling. This ability to split souls and possess creatures is just too bizarre... Is this supposed to be an ability of mine? If so, how many times could I split my soul and what are the side effects and benefits?'

Unfortunately, Dylan has no answer. He could only perform trial and error and continue to explore to find answers for himself.

Just like that, Dylan let the mosquito fly high and roam around the forest and live its life to the fullest. Dylan watched as the mosquito disappeared from his sight and went somewhere.

He tried to experiment with the skill if he could share senses with it at different distances and he discovered he could do so regardless of distance. Meaning, he knows what it's doing even if it's on the other side of the planet.
