Chapter 3 - Seize the Body of a Frog

Dylan didn't waste time. He ran back to the forest again. "Where did it go?"

Then, beside a grass, Dylan spotted a red frog with golden pupils croaking. It jumped on top of the grass, only for the grass to catch. The brass was burned to a crisp in just a few seconds.

When Dylan saw this frog for the first time. He was shocked... Not because he didn't know it, but because he knew it too damn well!

It was those monsters one could hunt from the popular game "Magic Art Online" that he played a lot in the past! They're called Spark Frogs!

The players of the game often hunted them because they give decent exp and they're not too dangerous. They're a lot safer to hunt like goblins.

Above the frog, there was floating text, level 3 Spark Frog. However, that's it. Dylan couldn't see its attributes nor its skills. He knew that it was because the frog was 2 levels higher than him. This is also how it works in Magic Art Online, which made Dylan certain that he was actually transmigrated inside the damn game!

This kind of thing made Dylan scared out of his wits. One has to mention that if he dies, he will die! Unlike the players that could revive in the village or other base infinitely.

The world of Magic Art Online is called Planet Blue Two. A dangerous world with only one continent. However, the size of the continent was comparable to that of two Pangea combined!

There are diverse monsters on the planet, which are a huge threat to humanity. If not for the existence of mages and other fighting professions, humanity would have already faced extinction long ago.

Dylan could only hope that he become stronger before the arrival of players. He didn't know if they were already here or what since he hadn't made contact with any village yet. If players haven't arrived, that would give him more time for preparation. After all, the first version of the world starts after just a year of the arrival of players. It was a major event where the demons sent a message that they were ready for a war.

With a sigh, Dylan decided not to think about the mess he was in. He opened his mouth, and a blue flame came out and shot toward the Spark Frog.

Ding!

[Possession failed! The target's soul isn't weaker than the host. Please weaken the target for guaranteed success.]

Dylan wasn't actually surprised with the result. The description of the skill already told him that he could only seize the body of those creatures with souls weaker than him. If the target's soul is far stronger, then he needs to weaken its consciousness. In simple terms, beat it to death until it couldn't recognize the false from the truth...

How to determine if the target's soul is stronger? Well, obviously, once his skill failed to possess the body. He can also simply know it by looking at the level.

The higher level a creature. The stronger the soul. This rule applies to all creatures.

Dylan didn't hesitate any longer. He activated his fly ability. A warm current flowed through his entire being. At this moment, he felt an illusion that he could fly in the sky. His body was lighter than ever as if he lost 30 kg of body weight in an instant.

With one step, Dylan dashed towards the Spark Frog with a shit-eating grin. 'You're body is mine!'

The frog was visibly startled. It looked at the crazy human who suddenly appeared. It quickly bolted out, attempting to escape.

"You might be two levels higher than me but it's not enough to run away from me." Dylan sneered as he quickly caught up with the frog that was jumping fiercely.

The frog managed to cover wide distances even with its small size. After all, no matter what, its basic attributes are slightly higher than current Dylan.

The only pity was the fact that Spark Frogs don't have powerful offensive abilities. It could only emit high temperatures to protect its body from being eaten by predators.

'I couldn't just grab it or it would cause blisters to my palm. It doesn't have a knife to kill it. Fortunately, I just need to weaken it.'

Dylan immediately acted upon his plans. He removed his shirt while continuing the chase and wrapped his fist with the shirt.

As Dylan reached the frog. He channeled all his might and threw his fist, aiming at the spark frog's small body. "There's nowhere to run! Hahaha!"

The spark frog's instinct acted. It jumped to the side to avoid the fist and opened its mouth. Its tongue, which was covered with a weak spark of yellow flames, elongated and shot toward Dylan.

"Everything is according to plan!" Dylan smiled knowingly. He had an advantage in this world. He knew the characteristics of most monsters and knew that events would take place thanks to playing the game until its sixth version.

Due to this, Dylan, who ground exp for countless hours to level up in the game in his past life, already took into account the attack the spark frog would likely do!

With a simple sidestep, he evaded the tongue. He felt the heat a little even though he wasn't hit. With a step forward, Dylan's fist finally connected with the frog causing it to catapult toward the tree.

[-45 HP!]

It let out a croak of anger. Dylan just smiled and stomped it with his feet. Dylan looked at the miserable frog. "Is it enough? Nah..."

Then he stomped it once again four times until the frog stopped moving. Dylan carefully grabs it. Its body wasn't as hot anymore but it was still alive.

Just like that, Dylan tried it again. This time, his soul fragment managed to occupy the body of the spark frog.

Dylan was satisfied with such a result. The frog quickly jumped around as if it wasn't near death just now. It jumped beside Dylan's feet and just stood there obediently.

"You are my frog self. There's no need to be that polite, you know?"

The frog just croaked at him as a response.

Dylan chuckled. He tried to feel himself and realized that he couldn't split soul again after using it to the frog. He knew that he could only do it once the frog died. However, once he levels up to 10. Dylan was certain that he would be able to split his soul to two soul fragment at a time.

It would give him more flexibility be because at level 10. There would be three of himself. Him, and two soul fragment that could seize bodies. He gains one opportunity to split his soul with every 10 level up...

'I should be able to look my frog's status now in detail, right?'
