Qi Jianyi woke up after a long nap. She glanced at the clock on the wall. 6 o'clock. She had been sleeping for 4 hours.
Qi Jianyi yawned and climbed down from the bed. She stretched her sore waist and walked to the toilet to wash her face. The young woman who was free from the eyes of others took her time to enjoy those little moments.
Just the thought of going back to a place called home but never felt like one made Qi Jianyi sighed. She patted her face until dry and sat on the couch while playing with her phone.
She looked at the numerous missed calls and messages from Ling Xi with amusement on her face. She could imagine the panic on Ling Xi's face when she realised she had to attend the class alone.
Going through hundreds of texts sent by Ling Xi made Qi Jianyi smile and laugh. All kind of cursing and complaining could be seen from the text in which Ling Xi accused Qi Jianyi of betraying their friendship by skipping class without telling her.
The miserable messages from Ling Xi managed to lighten up Qi Jianyi's mood. The young woman laughed heartily before deciding to reply to her friend with one short and heartless sentence just to annoy Ling Xi more.
'I overslept.'
Qi Jianyi smiled and pressed the send button before locking her phone and going out. She could imagine the dramatic gasps from Ling Xi.
Qi Jianyi walked downstairs and headed to her car. It's time to return home and be a daughter to the Qi family. At one point, Qi Jianyi thought of moving out from the Qi family's house. After all, she's 20 years old and old enough to live alone.
The thought of having her own house, her own space made Qi Jianyi happy. Not backing down from her thoughts, she decided to tell her parents later during dinner.
Not to mention the awkwardness between their daughter and parents relationship. Qi Jianyi herself was someone who had difficulties in letting someone enter her life. She was like a treasure chest with a broken key stuck at the lock. Cannot be open unless you destroy it.
"No matter how they will react later, I really need to move out." Qi Jianyi muttered slowly, firm with her decision.
…
"No! I will not allow it." Mr.Qi said harshly, his face froze for a moment before frowning, feeling a little bit upset with his daughter's suggestion.
Qi Jianyi looked at the man who sat at the head of the table. The man whom she should call 'father' in this world. She looked at Mr.Qi with a stubborn expression.
"That's my decision."
Hearing those short words caused Mr.Qi to be more upset with his daughter. He looked at Qi Jianyi sternly, "It's not up to you to decide that. I will not allow you to move out."
Qi Jianyi frowned, annoyed. She glanced at her mother, trying to see her answer. But her hope was destined to be shattered. Mrs.Qi also did not agree with her daughter's decision.
Move out? Why should she move out? Is this mansion not big enough for their daughter? Both of her parents are still alive and kicking, they still could take care of her. So why should she move out and live independently when she could get everything she needs when living with them?
"I do not ask for permission. I have decided to move out and will look for a house in the next few days." Qi Jianyi firmly gave her answers. She would not back down in this conversation.
"Jianyi, why don't you tell mom the reason you want to move out? Is this place too far from your university? We can talk this through, don't make a rash decision." Mrs.Qi tried to reason with her daughter.
Seeing how Mrs.Qi tried so hard to keep her in this house, Qi Jianyi softly sighed and replied, "I just want to try living alone. No other reason."
Both Mr.Qi and Mrs.Qi went silent after hearing her daughter's answer. In fact, it was not because they were reluctant to let their only daughter leave the house and have her own life. But because they were scared.
Scared that their daughter will not return home anymore. Scared that Qi Jianyi will live her life alone without the help of her parents.
Qi Jianyi was born when both of her parents were in their prime, in their youth. She was basically abandoned by her busy parents and was raised by her nanny. The busy father who only had the company in mind had no time to spare for his daughter. While the fashion designer mom was at the highest point of her life and too busy to take care of the little daughter.
Throwing their first born to her nanny, letting her grow up without the care of her parents caused Qi Jianyi to be alienated from them. Unfortunately, by the time Mr.Qi and Mrs.Qi realised their mistake, it was already too late. All they could do was to pay more attention towards their new twin born sons at that time, Qi Jinlu and Qi Jinli.
Generally, Qi Jianyi didn't know the real reason for this rejection. Although she received the original owner's memories, she was too lazy to sort everything out. To her, they are strangers. It doesn't matter if she never sees them again. But Qi Jianyi was not crazy enough to do that.
After all, she stole their daughter's body. The least she should do is showing up on new year's reunion.
"My answer remains no. End of discussion." Mr.Qi hardened his heart and rejected his daughter ruthlessly. He put down the chopsticks on the table and walked away, refusing to hear anything else.
Qi Jianyi looked at her father's back. For some reason, she saw a glimpse of her real father. Maybe, she just misses her family too much. She decided to put this decision on hold for the time being.
She put down the chopsticks in her hand and stood up from her seat, "I'm full, I'll go first."
Without waiting for Mrs.Qi's answers, Qi Jianyi left her mom and little brothers behind.
Qi Jinli stared at his sister's back for a long time before continuing eating. He does not have any resistance towards Qi Jianyi's decision to move out. They were never close.
As far as he could remember, that sister of his never smiled or played with them. She was too busy with her own life and never cared about them. He still remembered when they were young, they tried to get close to her but were pushed away.
Since then, the three years old Qi Jinlu and Qi Jinli realised that their older sister hates them. And the siblings' relationship has long been ruined. No one is willing to mend the broken relationship.
It's impossible for the twins to never seek their sister's love. But the rejection from Qi Jianyi was too strong to the point of making them afraid to get close to her.
"Mom, if she wants to move out, then let her go. Why bother keeping her in this house? She never really wants to live here anyway." Qi Jinlu tried to convince Mrs.Qi.
Since their sister wants to leave, then let her go. This family does not need her.
"Shut up and eat your food." Mrs.Qi glared at her 17 years old son. Nothing good ever came out from her son's mouth. Only nonsense.
