Chapter 38: Racing Against Time
Maya's heart pounded as she read the file again, the words blurring together on the screen. She felt like she was drowning in a sea of secrets and lies.
"We have to tell someone," Maya said, her voice firm. "We can't let our families get away with this."
Chase nodded, his jaw clenched. "I know. But who can we trust?"
Maya hesitated. She thought of Sophia, but her sister was too close to their father. And then there was Aryan... but he was a wild card.
"We need to get out of here," Chase said, his eyes scanning the room. "Now."
Maya nodded, and they quickly gathered their things. As they left the warehouse, Maya felt like they were racing against time. They had to expose the truth before their families silenced them forever.
As they walked, the tension between them grew thicker than the summer air. Maya knew she couldn't deny her feelings for Chase any longer.
"Chase," Maya said, her voice barely above a whisper.
He turned to her, his eyes questioning.
Maya's heart skipped a beat. "I... I think I trust you."
Chase's face softened, and he reached out, his fingers brushing against hers. "I'm glad," he said, his voice low and husky. "I trust you too, Maya."
Their hands touched, and Maya felt a spark of electricity run through her body. She knew in that moment that she was falling for Chase, hard.
What happens next? Do they share a kiss, or do they keep their feelings hidden?
