Chapter 2 - Return

In the midst of nowhere, where darkness reigned supreme, a sudden, brilliant light appeared from nothingness, illuminating everything around it. The light began to take shape, forming a human-like figure...

"Where am I? Wasn't I supposed to be dead...?"

The soul spoke in a confused voice, trying to make sense of what was happening.

"Could this be the world after death?"

> First Person Perspective

What's going on here? I was supposed to be dead by now, but what am I doing here? I can't even feel my body; the only thing I can do is think. Damn it, wasn't I supposed to die? Do I have to suffer even in death?

Ah, I tried to scream, but I couldn't because my mouth wouldn't move—or rather, it felt like I didn't even have one. All I could do was scream inside my mind and try to remember anything that could explain my current situation.

Alright, let's start from the beginning. In reality, I was just a twenty-four-year-old man living a simple life with no family, wife, or relatives. I was alone my entire life. The only things I did were eat, sleep, work, and occasionally read some novels or watch anime or manga.

One night, I was reading a Chinese novel called "The Return of the Dragon King." It was your typical story with an arrogant protagonist gathering a harem and slapping villains' faces. I wasn't particularly fond of it, but out of boredom, I kept reading until I fell asleep without realizing it. However, the biggest surprise was that when I woke up, I didn't find myself in my world. Instead, I had been transported into the body of one of the characters in the novel I was reading.

That character was none other than the villain, Alex Shun. I was only two years old when I took over his body. Like anyone in such a situation, I accepted my reality and decided to fight my fate within the story. I thought I could succeed and live my life quietly, but all of that ended in failure. In the end, I met the same fate as the villain—death.

It seems that no matter what I did, I couldn't change what was written in the novel. You could alter minor details, but the main plot of the characters would never change—unless the character's role didn't significantly impact the story's true course. Ah, how foolish it was to try to change anything.

"It wasn't foolish of you."

Amid my thoughts and self-blame, I heard a calm voice beside me, and immediately after, I felt something warm wrapping around me.

"You did the right thing, so don't blame yourself too much."

I don't know why, but I felt immense comfort after hearing those words from this mysterious figure who was embracing me with a very warm hug.

"It would be wonderful to stay like this for a while longer, but time is running out, so listen carefully."

I could sense the sadness and regret in his voice, though I didn't understand why he was in such a hurry or what he regretted. But all I felt was a warm kiss on my forehead and an ethereal voice filled with remorse before my consciousness began to fade...

"I'm sorry I couldn't π√`°..."

Sorry for what? I couldn't hear her last words as I had completely lost consciousness.

> Third Person Perspective

In the middle of nowhere, only a mysterious figure remained, dressed in a long white robe, gazing at the spot where the soul had disappeared.

"I hope you live a happy life this time."

"You witch! Do you even realize what you've done? You've shattered the balance of the universes with this!"

The woman heard a furious voice echoing through the void, causing her to frown slightly before responding in a cold, icy tone.

"I don't care about what happens. The only thing I care about is his happiness. As for the balance of the cosmos or anything like that, that's your job, not mine."

"You know that even after what you did, your chances of staying with him are only 1%, don't you?"

A sad smile spread across the woman's face as she heard those words, but she didn't pay much attention to it.

"As I said before... as long as he lives happily, I'm satisfied. That's my goal."

Silence fell over the space before the woman began to feel her body fading away along with all the memories she had cherished.

"It seems the time has come."

Her body started to dissolve peacefully into the void, but this didn't frighten or alarm her; it was something she had expected from the beginning. Thus, she maintained her calm expression until she finally vanished, leaving only an angry voice echoing in the empty space.

"Ah, damn it, you witch, you really did it in the end!"

Shanghai

In one of the beautiful mansions, designed with a blend of Chinese and European styles, a figure could be seen sleeping in one of the mansion's rooms. This person was none other than Alex Shun, the mansion's owner.

After a brief moment, the sun's rays began to rise, shining on Alex's face, causing his eyes to twitch slightly as he moved, raising his hands to shield them from the sunlight.

"So bright..."

Alex sat up after feeling the warmth of the morning sun and tried to figure out what was happening to him and where he was.

> First Person Perspective

Alright, what's happening now? I really don't understand what's going on with me, and what's up with that person? What does he want from me? But first and foremost, where am I? I looked around to figure out my location.

The surroundings were very familiar. The luxurious curtains swayed slightly in the breeze, the elegant American and European decor filled the room, and the desk was cluttered with all kinds of rare manuscripts and books.

"Isn't this...!"

I quickly jumped out of bed and rushed toward the bathroom. As soon as I entered and saw the face in the mirror, I felt a knot in my stomach, and anger surged through my head, driving me to curse and scream at the top of my lungs.

"Why? Why this body? Why?"

It wasn't the ugliness of the face in the mirror that made me angry. In fact, the face I saw was one of the most beautiful, rivaling even the top models. The reason for my anger was that the owner of this body was none other than Alex Shun, the villain from the novel "The Return of the Dragon King"—the body I had in my previous life.

I've had enough of this miserable life. I've sacrificed so much in my past life, and nothing worked. I really don't have the desire to live through the same life again.

"Why? I just want to die...! Do I have to suffer even in death? Why am I not allowed to die? Why?"

Without realizing it, I started punching the sink and screaming like a madman out of sheer desperation. And just as I was about to lose my sanity completely, a voice rang inside my head.

Poems from the author

Firstly, my English is a little bad, and secondly, the first chapters are short, but they will be 2000 words later. I have more than 60 ready-made chapters that need a lot of translation and uploading, so I will upload them after they are translated. I hope for support for a beginner like me.
