"R-Ryan?" I said unconsciously and turned to face him. I recognized his voice.
" How dare you call me by my name? Tell me who sent you? " He said as he moved swiftly and pinned me on the window. My breath hitched, and my heart rate quickened. The slight impact with the cold surface of the window reminded me of the day I was thrown out of the window. Oh, now that I remember, it was exactly at this height. Jack's room had a similar height to the room in my previous life, where I was thrown out of a window by the man standing before me right now with a dagger in his hand. Wasn't this deja vu?
" You better start talking before I lose my patience." he said while I was struggling to control my breathing because of the fear that had creeper in after my back made contact with the window, I guess I was a long way from getting rid of those memories and it seemed like, letting my back face the window was a trigger.
Ryan got impatient and pressed the dagger even further onto my neck.
" Hiss" I hissed in pain and tried to jump away from the dagger but then remembering that I would probably meet the same fate as in my previous life if I jumped too far from it I panicked and grabbed Ryan's coat to stabilize myself so that I would not fall. My actions shocked him a bit as he moved away to avoid contact.
It was here that I noticed that though he had pinned me against the window and lord, I did not want to fall off again and face the same tragedy, I noticed that he wasn't using too much force probably because he was conscious that I was a woman. That was why I was able to move earlier when I felt like I was going to fall.
I had a plan and putting my fear aside, I executed my plan. Taking a deep breath, I locked eyes with Ryan and boldly put my hands onto his neck. I had to stand on my tippy-toes just for this, but I did not get too close to him. I made sure to leave space between us with only my hands making contact with his neck.
I put on my brightest smile." What do you mean, husband? Is this how you treat your newly wedded wife?" I said to him.
He was shocked at first but the swiftly recovered. He removed my hands from his neck and restrained them just above my head with his one hand.
He looked at me for a while as though thinking about something.
I looked away because I could not maintain the eye contact.
After a while, he lowered his head to my level, removed the dagger from my neck and turned my head so I would face him.
He was too close! I couldn't breathe. Though I acted boldly earlier I still had my limits. I did not cross the line with my actions, i only used that opportunity to tease him a bit but he actually dared to move closer to me!
Did he see through my act because I maintained a certain distance so that my body wouldn't touch his? Whatever the reason, i couldn't stand the way we were in close contact and that position was making me uncomfortable.
"So I have a wife now?" he asked in a low-pitched voice.
I squirmed trying to break free from his hold but it did not work. In fact, he strengthened his hold on my hands.
" If you let me go, I can explain properly." I offered as I struggled and attempted to break loose again.
" And where's the fun in that little wife?" he asked with a smile that was not a smile. It did not even reach his eyes. In fact, his eyes harbored a lot of viciousness and hatred.
This reminded me of how he was rumored to be very ruthless to his enemies. People in my past life even said that the only person who did not face get to be looked at with such viciousness was his late wife.
A shiver ran down my spine.
