Jay Jay stood innocently in front of my sister. He had his puppy eyes wide open as he fiddled with his tiny fingers looking at Sofia.
Sofia, on the other hand, was unresponsive. Her expression was frozen as she looked at Jay Jay. She did not say a word to him or even smile at him.
How could she be so unmoving when facing such an adorable child?!
Anticipation and excitement built up as the atmosphere got tense.
Our little Jay Jay did not notice the change in the atmosphere as he was expectantly waiting for an answer.
He urged her again," Please miss." He said in a cute childish voice.
Sofia still did not move nor say anything to the child. She looked like a statue, and I started feeling sorry for JayJay because she was properly not going to accept the request.
Sofia turned and attempted to run away from the kitchen, but Jay Jay was holding onto the hem of her dress, and she turned with so much force that Jay Jay immediately fell down from the impact.
" Jay Jay!" I screamed in shock as I rushed to his side, thank fully he did not hit his head.
Murmurs rose at the occurrence.
*gasps*
" Is young master Jack okay?"
" Is he breathing? I think he's not breathing!"
" Stop being dramatic! How could a young master like young master Jack stop breathing from such a small push?"
" Did Miss Sofia push Young master Jack?"
"I think she pushed him!"
" No, was he not pulling her dress?"
Sofia did not even look back at the chaos she had caused.
" Are you okay, Jay Jay?" I asked as I knelt on the floor.
The crowd was closing in because they were concerned about Jay Jay, or at least they wanted to see if he was dead or alive.
The little guy raised his head, crouched his legs, and hid his head between his legs. I could hear his silent sobs. He was probably injured somewhere, but he would not say.
" Jay Jay." I said softly as I tried to soothe him.
" M-make t-them g-go away, mommy." he said. I think I was already getting used to him calling me mommy because my protective side immediately activated
I gently tapped him and opened my arms, and he rushed to me. I lifted him up and carried him in my arms. I turned to face master Evans, who was close to us and said, " I will take him inside." He nodded, and I turned and left.
As I made my way through the crowd, I could feel Jay Jay's little body tense up probably because he did not like crowds to begin with.
I also heard my father announce that there were refreshments back at the party venue, and people could go back there to grab something before they went back to their homes.
I went to my room and went straight to the balcony. I knew that Jay Jay was going to love the view there because he used to hide there when it was time for his tutoring session.
" Little Jay Jay, look, stars and the moon."
" Aren't they pretty?" I said as I soothed him, but he did not look
" Look up there, I see a shooting star." I lied, but I knew that he was going to pay attention, and he did.
" Where?" He asked as he looked around frantically.
After he looked around, he saw that there wasn't any, " Mommy, you lied." he said with a pout
" No, I did not! You took too long to look, " I argued in an equally childish voice
" Really?" he asked innocently
" Really." I said
Then he started crying again, and I asked, " What's wrong?"
" You are not gonna marry my dad anymore." he exclaimed in between hiccups
" That's not true." I said
" It is. The lady did not say yes." he said and I bet he did not even know why his grandad sent him to Sofia.
" It does not matter, shhhh." I rubbed his back.
" I will marry your dad." I will marry Ryan and hopefully survive this time.
