my mom. hadn't felt safe letting me go to school on the first few days of class. I was worried I would miss my lessons. miss out on making new friends on the first day and getting a good impression.
but it didn't matter because classes were cancelled because half the staff refused to teach because of last-minute changes. to admissions. On day 1, a ton of non-Dinos showed up. It was so bad that groups of Dino gangs were called in to protect the Dino students from them. They prevented a lot of the non-Dinos from entering the school. but a good amount got in. and those that did got into fights and violent altercations with Dinos. and the dinos got hurt really badly.
There were hundreds of parents complaining, and a lot of them tried to sue. but for some reason under everyone's noses. The judicial courts had all been coopted by non-Dino sympathizers who scrapped any attempt at a court case. because it would be classified as a discriminatory action under the new law that was once advertised to protect lesser-known dino species from oppressive actions from the more numerous well-known dinos. It was expanded last second after hitting the desks of the parliment. The word outer dino was expanded to mean the wider field of archosaurs. and then even all reptiles. with special exceptions. for the reptiles who were outside the range of that normal standard. but there was a loophole that allowed a few non-reptiles to get in. It was, honestly? traitorous. How was this not a scheme? against our fair nation.
The loophole stated that all children of reptiles were allowed in. But this section was expanded to mean all animals that descend from reptiles, which soon mean all things like synapsids and some forms of mammals. That word felt so disgusting to me to say. And the worst part was that I heard they let a human into school. He had already been rumored to have committed a few violent acts. but from those who talked to him, he left a pretty good impression. inteligence wize. which made the parents even more nervous because it meant it was smarter than the rest of those dumb apes.
I guess even when other animals cause trouble at school, They only send their best. which only mean their best and are just as bad as they are. and it could only mean all the rest of them. were even worse.
My mom had bought me a melee weapon. It was the first time I got to hold one while walking the streets. I used pole arms before, but never with the express thought of using them against others in a life-or-death struggle. The only times I used these things were in physical education for cultural reasons. something about tradition and how it would be good for me as a young woman. to get in touch with stegasaur history. like fighting with a weapon at a distance. My mom had even bought me a complex leather dress. that honestly made me do a double take on how last century it was.
There were rows of metal plates. next to interlocked straps of hard leather. It was coated in a blackish-brown bronze with shades of blue. It adorned my body in a scale-tight manner. It covered up every natural weakness in my body's armor. and only enhanced the defenses I was born with. metal spike sheets placed above the keratin layer of my giant plates on my back, tail, and head. It kind of made me feel unbalanced. but also safe.
The parents complained of how the non-dinos always carried knives with them. and how it made the girls feel unsafe at school, so they rioted in front of the building to allow us to carry our own fire arms, but the school banned those, and the government took their side. So we had to settle for knives, polearms, and other forms of throwing weapons. They had also banned things like chemical sprays and electrical weapons like stun batons and tasers. The reasoning was that the school was filled with flooded aquatic areas and sprinklers, so everything was always moist to conduct electrical current that would harm inocent dino bystanders. There were several accidents. from people who snuck those in anways. and there were also accidents using pepper sprays, mace, or other chemical repelents. such as poisoning a lot of the expensive school plants that got that student and parent sued. and also food poisoning the students after someone sprayed another person with spray, but the surrounding fish and bugs were also sprayed and were then eaten by other students who were rushed into the room because of the toxic chemicals they ingested secondhand.
in short. The school had an airtight reason for not allowing fire arms. chemical sprays, and electrical weapons. So this time, the dinosaurs had no weapon advantage over non-dinos. and we only had our natural species gifts to protect us. So the parents all demanded that we be given martial arts weapon training as the curriculum. specifically designed to protect us against non-dinos. Of course, this would count as discrimination, and the teachers all agreed to do it. People in the Senate who favored this even hired their own teachers. but the opposition hired theirs as well. saying if Dinos have anti-Dino combat classes for. RECREATION. then the non-dinos should also. So they brought instructors to train them in countering dinosaur species in combat. it was
proposterous! How could anyone be so racist as to train anti-Dino tactics in fighting? Dinos just wanted to feel safe. That's why we had to learn how to fight those violent criminals. It was a threat to our lives. Of course, there were the woke activists. who said that the non-dinos only brought knives and weapons because the dinos were discriminating against them and making them feel targeted. which was a lie! Dinos would never do that. We love everyone equally. We just have a rational fear of their capacity to cause violence.
So yeah, that brings me to here. Why am I outside of the school gate? with giant pole arms. in a sling bag. and a last-century-style armor over my uniform.
The parents had no authorization to let their kids carry weapons or wear armor. But the school couldn't stop us if 70 percent of the teachers decided to let us into class anyway. It was deemed our right to bring some sort of defensive weapon by the few local leaders who were mayors of the dino-closed neighborhoods. and some city centers. with a lot of public and corporate backing. I'm glad all of our parents pitched in. to the right to defend ourselves from these dangerous animals.
The world didn't make sense anymore. It was less dino than yesterday. and I felt less safe because of it.
The stegasuar had finished ranting at the diary entry on her phone. with a loud sigh. tired emotionally from how quickly the world was changing around her. It was just no longer 100 percent in appreciation for her kind. Was it bad enough to share the world with other dinosaurs? Now they have to share it with everyone else. Life was just not fair for this young girl. Why can't they all just go extinct? She said it quietly under her breath as she walked to class.
