Chapter 1 - the first encounter

Alex Carter wiped his brow as he carefully plated the final dish of the evening. The scent of garlic and fresh herbs filled the small kitchen of Carter's Bistro, a family-owned restaurant nestled in the heart of Seaview. It was a modest place, known for its cozy atmosphere and delicious, home-cooked meals.

Despite the love and effort Alex poured into his cooking, the restaurant was struggling. Every month, the bills seemed to grow higher, and the customers fewer. Yet, Alex refused to give up. He was believing in a miracle. This restaurant was his parents' legacy, and he was determined to keep it alive.

"Order up!" he called, sliding the plate onto the pass. His best friend and waiter, Max, grabbed it with a grin.

Another masterpiece," Max said. "But you really need to take a break, Alex. You look like you're about to collapse."

Alex chuckled, shaking his head. "No time for breaks. Not until we've served the last customer."

Max rolled his eyes but didn't argue. He knew how stubborn Alex could be. As Alex watched Max deliver the dish to a happy customer, he couldn't help but smile. Despite the stress and exhaustion, moments like these made it all worthwhile. But in the back of his mind, a nagging worry remained – how much longer could he keep this up?

Meanwhile, in a sleek, modern apartment in the city, Emma Collins was packing her bags. The view from her floor-to-ceiling windows showcased a sprawling metropolis, but Emma barely noticed. Her mind was elsewhere, lost in thoughts of the past few months.

Her relationship with David had ended abruptly, leaving her heartbroken and questioning everything. David had seemed perfect – charming, successful, and attentive. But underneath the surface, he was controlling and deceitful. The breakup had shattered Emma's trust in men, making her skeptical of anyone who tried to get close to her.

David was cheating on her with his secretary and before Emma could find out it was already late as the lady was already three months pregnant. Emma was left heartbroken and shattered for many days.

As a successful corporate lawyer, Emma was used to having control over her life. But love, it seemed, was one thing she couldn't manage with logic and strategy. She needed a break from the relentless pace of city life and the painful memories of her past relationship.

That's why she decided to escape to Seaview for a while.

She saw the picturesque, natural, seaside town on a travel blogger on social media few months back when she was planning a trip with David. She immediately fell in love with the white beaches, palm trees and the locals. She tried to convince David to make the town their next trip, but David did not agree. David hated the seaside and he also complained about how the town was too laid back.

But now David is out of the picture and is of the past, she has the opportunity to pay a visit to that lovely which has her heart.

She needed a break, a chance to breathe and find herself again. As she zipped up her suitcase, she felt a mix of apprehension and excitement. This trip was a leap into the unknown, but it was exactly what she needed.

Seaview greeted Emma with its charming streets and the salty scent of the ocean. She checked into her quaint vacation lodge, a cozy hotel just a short walk from the beach. She loved her room it was small, clean, cozy though the room and the hotel was not as luxurious as the one she is used to back in her city, it still smelled nice and natural and they has a good kitchen service.

Determined to make the most of her first day, she set out to explore the town.

Her wanderings soon led her to Carter's Bistro. The inviting aroma of cooking drew her in, and she decided to have lunch there. As she entered, she accidentally bumped into Alex, who was rushing out of the kitchen with a tray of drinks.

"I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, looking up to meet his eyes.

Alex laughed, steadying the tray. "No harm done," Alex looked at her once and know that she is not a local, she must be a tourist.

"First time in Seaview?" He asked her.

Emma nodded, feeling a bit flustered. "Yes, just got here today."

"Well, welcome. I'm Alex, by the way. Hope you enjoy our little town."

"Thanks, I'm Emma. Nice to meet you."

Their conversation was interrupted by a customer calling for Alex, and he had to rush off. Emma watched him go, a small smile playing on her lips. But as she sat down, doubts crept in. She reminded herself that she was here to heal, not to get involved with anyone.

Meanwhile, back in the kitchen, Alex couldn't help but think about the woman he'd just met. Emma had an air of sophistication that stood out in a small town like Seaview. He'd seen many tourists come and go, but something about her intrigued him. However, he also knew better than to get involved with someone who might only be here for a short while. Besides, she seemed like one of those high class city types who wouldn't understand the simplicity of his life.

As she sat down to enjoy her meal, she couldn't help but wonder if their paths would cross again. Little did she know, this was just the beginning of a journey that would challenge both their preconceptions and change their lives forever.
