Chapter 3 - Fake It

Margo was about to go into the bedroom when she remembered something important.

"Antione, can you go find her bag that she came in with today? She's a woman, she'll have a bag somewhere. Try the lockers. If she lives in the camp, she probably carries all her valuables with her every day." Margo asked him quickly. When Antione rose to go find Cora's bag Margo turned back to the door.

Margo opened the door and stepped inside, closing the door behind herself. Margo turned in time to see Cora rise from the bench and try to put on a brave face.

She stepped forward holding out a hand to the younger woman. Cora had just turned twenty. "Hello Cora, I am Margo Atlas. I own this club and the Atlas Corporation." Margo said using her best professional voice despite being dressed in a zip-up purple leather top and black leather pants with a studded belt. She doubted Cora felt real professional in her sports bra and micro mini skirt either.

"Hello Ms. Atlas, I was told you wanted to see me." Cora took Margo's hand and shook though she faltered slightly when electricity zinged between their hands when they touched. Margo was happy to know that Cora felt it too. Margo pulled the girl closer and looked into Cora's eyes intensely. She waited for the thrall to kick in.

After several seconds Cora asked. "Ms. Atlas, what can I help you with. The girl seemed confused but not enthralled. Margo tried again and nothing happened. This girl was resisting the thrall completely.

"I asked you to see me because I have found you a much better job at a much more desirable location. The job is a combination of executive assistant and files management for Atlas Corp. I hope you will agree, the position comes with much better pay and an exclusive apartment in the tower. We will need you to start immediately. Could you do that?" Margo looked at Cora expectantly.

"Umm, what do I have to do to get the job?" Cora asked quickly as if she didn't want to hope this could be real if she would have to do something horrible to make it happen.

Margo blew out a breath. She hadn't actually expected her to ask that. Margo shook here head pushing away the thoughts she was having of her mate wrapped around her at that moment. Not like this, not out of fear. "The job is already yours if you want it. Antione will take you to collect your belongings and drop you at your apartment. You will start Monday night at five and work four days a week six hours per day. You get all your wage documents and such on Monday when you start,"

"Why though?" Cora asked, she was a dog with a bone.

"You are overqualified for what you're wearing. Atlas needs solid office professionals. One of our top-level executives desperately needs someone to get the job done without constant babysitting. You are a professional that is not being used to your potential. Perfect fit." Margo said with some frustration.

Cora eyed Margo with some distrust but finally said, "okay, I'll do it."

"Fantastic!" Margo exclaimed, then she moved faster than Cora could track and pressed her lips to Cora's while pressing on the nerve in her neck sharply. Cora dropped sound asleep in her arms. "Sorry sweets, you probably wouldn't like what I'm going to do next."

Margo held Cora in her arms, to her she was light as a feather. She was studying her face and the way she felt there. They would be a perfect match. Then she forced herself to do what she needed to do. She bit hard into Cora's neck feeling the hot blood pour into her mouth. The blood tasted sweet, but the blood rage couldn't take her over since this was her mate. Their soul bond wouldn't allow it.

Margo drank about four swallows, enough to get the post feeding high that people would notice if she didn't have and then she sealed the bites with saliva to staunch the blood. Once she had moved her mouth back, she pricked a finger erasing the bites with her blood. It would still be sore tomorrow, but Cora wouldn't know why.

Next Margo laid Cora on the bed and proceeded to lick along Cora's neck, her shoulder, along her chest. She moved down to her midsection and swept over her several times with her tongue then she did the same on her inner thighs to where her skirt ended. It wasn't even sexual. Cora needed to smell like they had been doing sexual things and since she wasn't a man this was the best way to make her smell like sex without having sex. It could be done better but she refused to force her mate to have sex with her for a job.

"I'm sorry baby, to put you through this. It shouldn't be like this." Margo brushed the hair back from Cora's face.

Margo walked over to the door and cracked it. When she spied Antione, she waved him in.

"Whew. She definitely smells like you bathed her with your tongue." Antione wrinkled his nose then laughed as Margo flipped him off. "And you definitely have a blood high, just let people see it. Margo nodded quickly.

"Get her out of here." Margo brushed a finger against her cheek unsure when she would even see her mate again. Margo knew it would look like she was passed out from blood loss. She grabbed a cigarette and went to smoke it on the catwalk overlooking the club. She unzipped her top, letting it be open to naked skin in the center making her look less put together. Margo stood there for five minutes smoking before going back into her room and laying down.

Margo pictured Cora in her mind and tried to imagine a day where it wouldn't be like this anymore. A day where they could stand side-by-side. The same species, together, and happy in their place in this world. Right now, it was nearly impossible to imagine because their bond was forbidden with no end to their separation in sight. No matter how much Margo wished it wasn't so; it was best if her and Cora stayed far away from each other.
