Jiaier Ji went to a dining establishment near the hospital and bought herself soy milk and steamed buns. Such a breakfast was rather simple. But Ji En was different. He needed a nutritious yet non-greasy breakfast, so she bought him a light frog porridge.
Carrying the breakfast bag, Jiaier Ji was walking back when suddenly a car sped by, almost hitting her. To dodge it, her leg heavily hit a stone pillar beside, and tears immediately welled up.
"Miss, are you okay?" Many kind-hearted people on the roadside gathered around, but the offending vehicle sped away in a flash.
Jiaier Ji shook her head, looking at the breakfast that had spilled all over the ground. She had no choice but to limp back and buy another portion. She had lost her appetite, so she only bought another portion of frog porridge for Ji En.
Jiaier Ji returned to Ji En's ward. Pushing the door open, she heard laughter coming from inside. It was Ouyang Xue's voice. Jiaier Ji looked up and saw that she was feeding Ji En porridge.
"Have you had breakfast? I brought extra. You can have some together." Ouyang Xue said upon seeing Jiaier Ji. She didn't know that Jiaier Ji stayed here last night.
"I've already eaten, thank you! I'll go handle the discharge procedures first." Jiaier Ji placed the breakfast on the table, turned around, and walked out of the ward, feeling how redundant she was.
After handling the discharge procedures, Jiaier Ji sat on a stone bench in the garden behind the hospital. Tears began to uncontrollably stream down again. Rolling up her pant leg, she saw that her right leg was all bruised. But at this moment, her heart hurt even more. It turned out that last night was just a whim of Ji En's, or perhaps another of his teasing. But she almost got trapped in his vortex and couldn't extricate herself. As an ugly duckling like her, she really shouldn't have dreamed of having the swan's meat.
Jiaier Ji recalled a sentence that the nun said in the orphanage: "Child, as long as your heart is sincere, God will eventually open his arms to you." She didn't know if she had been sincere enough, nor did she know when God would open his compassionate arms. But now she could only feel darkness.
At such a helpless moment, Jiaier Ji didn't know who to confide in. Since entering the Ji family, she no longer had any friends, except for accompanying Ji En all day long.
After calming herself down, Jiaier Ji pretended to be fine and returned to Ji En's ward. There was still one bottle of his intravenous drip left.
"The discharge procedures have been completed." Jiaier Ji told them.
"What happened to your leg?" Ji En asked Jiaier Ji.
"Nothing. I just twisted it accidentally." Jiaier Ji said nonchalantly, still not looking at Ji En.
"Aier, if you have something to do, you can go back first. I can accompany Ji En for the discharge later." Ouyang Xue said to Jiaier Ji.
"Okay..." Before Jiaier Ji could finish, she was interrupted by Ji En.
"Who allowed you to go back first!" Ji En said coldly, his tone full of displeasure.
Jiaier Ji looked up at him, not understanding why he treated her like this.
"Xue, you go back first. I still have something to deal with. See you at school tomorrow." Ji En said to Ouyang Xue.
"Well then, I'll go back first. See you tomorrow morning, HONEY!" Ouyang Xue said sensibly and walked over to kiss Ji En, but this time she kissed his lips. Jiaier Ji suddenly felt nauseous. It wasn't because Ouyang Xue kissed Ji En, but because Ji En had kissed her before. Jiaier Ji suddenly felt so sad!
