Chapter 6 - Aleks The Dean

[System capabilities:

-Store lvl. 1

-Inventory lvl 1.

-System Functions lvl 1.

User must note that the system requires upgrades in order to add more functions.]

Aleks reviewed the blue window and saw the short note that the system left, it put his spirits into the dumps: "You're telling me that you're not functioning at full capabilities."

"Ugh, fine. Show me the store. I can already figure out inventory and since it already told me about the system and how it needs an upgrade then it should be self-explanatory."

[Shop:

Magic Spells: Classes include (Dark, Light, Space, Earth, Fire, Water, Air…),

Body Modifications:  Are specified by classes like Magic Spells]

"Alright there is no need to talk about magic abilities until I get my book. It's a free gift from the world so no rush. No rush."

It took Aleks two hours to walk through the aisle of books.

When he arrived at the end there was a large altar standing above a pond of water.

Uncle Stanley was the first to end the silence: "Good sir, all you must do is stand in the middle and a magic book will come to you."

The old man didn't say much else, he was still anticipating the results.

"If it is a bad omen book then I must take action…"

He had to keep repeating in order to give himself the courage.

Aleks approached the altar and closed his eyes, he put his hands behind his back: "This posture is just right for a self confident fellow. I just wait and lift my hand up to catch the book. Easy as eating cake."

Aleks internally smirked and looked forward to the free gift he was going to receive.

He waited for 5 minutes, then 10 minutes went by, then at the 20 minute mark, he opened his eyes.

"There's nothing coming, did the system tell me about the shop beforehand so I can make the choice myself?"

"System open the shop and select magic classes."

Aleks selected his class and opened his hand towards the aisle of books.

The old man looked around to see what kind of book was coming.

"So it turned out this way?"

The book that came had a white cover, there was no wording nor any other details. It was as if a misprint was being sent towards Aleks.

The old man 'Uncle Stanely' knew that this was a bad omen because this has never occurred before, besides that, there was also the aura that the book gave off.

As it hurled towards Aleks, it gave the old man the impression that as soon as he held the book not only would he die but so will the whole world.

The old man closed his eyes: "Rank 5 Crystal World!"

"Im sorry kid but this is the highest attainment in Earth magic, first it solidifies the surrounding air into geodes of high quality crystals, then it compresses it into a small globe that fits in my hand."

The air started to feel heavy, Aleks felt his shoulders were aiming towards the floor, his back started to wobble.

Aleks didn't know what kind of magic this was, but he knew that it was dangerous!

He smirked at the old man: "Fool."

"Reverse."

The book gained momentum, the atmosphere around Uncle Stanley increased, and Aleks stood straight with an expressionless face.

Aleks was racing inside his mind: "Oh, man thank you system. I was able to look at what basic spells each magic class had and I definitely chose the most overpowered one. The first ability is reverse! It takes the magic that any target put out and aims it at them instead."

"If it was an attack that covers a large area then it only redirects it towards the original caster!"

"Who would have thought that magic could be so cool?"

The book pierced the head of the old man, shattering his skull and arrived in the hand of Aleks.

He looked down and saw that he turned into crystals that also flew into his palm.

He stashed it into his clothes and put the book on his waist.

Aleks didn't understand why he came at him with murderous intent but all things that come are meant to and what is not will not happen.

He was taking his cool guy attitude to the max level, even starting to trick himself, after all he didnt feel like he was part of this world to begin with.

Aleks felt like he was in a theater play, so a simple death didnt affect him much, because of this attitude it almost cost him his life when he was forced to take a long journey from the farm to the city.

Now, he has to brave the academy and the loss of the most powerful.

"Wait, does that mean I failed the quest?"

*Ding!

[User was targeted by selected role-model.

"oh, I probably shouldn't have used that spell without considering the repercussions."

[User has walked down a path of murder…

[Quest: Overthrow Academy and become lord.

Failure: Death

Success: Title: The One Who Adapts]

"Oh brother, now how am I supposed to take control of a magic society?"

Aleks walked through the aisle once more.

The portal that the old man created remained, so Aleks used this to go back to the office he was originally inside.

"I think I can handle this… I only had forever to think about it."

Aleks smiled and approached the desk of the now dead old man.

"Ah things really do move fast. First I was welcomed by you, now you are dead. Somehow I have to tell everyone that I am the new dean."

"Light Magic Rank 1: Bubble thoughts!"

This spell creates a perimeter within a target's mind and allows for the user to influence their thoughts. It was listed as rank 1 because it had little impact on a large scale battle, but Aleks was not using it as intended.

He wanted to slow the mind of the area and the people around so he could make a tiny white lie and take control.

"Light Magic Rank 1: Sound Thoughts!"

"Ladies and gentlemen of the academy, your dean has now retired and given me the position. You might wonder as to why it only took a few hours for such a drastic change, but please know that the magic that the previous dean had in control was no laughing matter!"

"I have already spent countless years with the dean inside a separate realm and countless years learning from him. Please take consideration and take care of the new dean. Thank you!"

Aleks rolled his eyes and thought that if anyone truly believes this mess then it would be ridiculous but after seeing the way everyone acts in this world it was not surprising.

That portion about a separate realm?

It turns out that this is also a spell inside the light class, Aleks hasn't used it, nor does he have the proper body modifications to wield such a high rank spell.

All the other spells he can do are rank 1.

The reverse spell he did earlier did not have a rank because it was the basic innate abilities for those who wield light magic.

The description of light magic also sold Aleks on the thought, since he believed it would make him extremely overpowered.

"Well I have to find that World Origin somehow. If I'm not mistaken, this world is a lesser world than wherever this place called Syn is."

*Ding!

[User has completed the Quest: Lie Lie and Lie Again You Filthy Liar!

Congratulations!

The Title: The title The One Who Adapts has been given to the user!

Please wait as we process the next quest!]

Aleks rolled his eyes and looked onto the blue screen.

[Name: Aleks Marin

Title: Blessed by The World, The One Who Adapts

Magic Class: Light

Magic Rank: 1

Traits: none

Innate skills: reverse

World: Star Boundary

Primary Objective: Attain the World Origin]

Looks like this academy is my home for a little while. I should adapt to my cool character here. I can make some people pour me tea and look into the distance as if I'm awaiting for something.

Aleks smirked as the blue window disappeared and he looked at the door of the office he was in.

"This is my new home, better enjoy it while I can." Aleks sighed as he felt a little lonely.

In contrast to the other living beings on this world, they're not out looking for this mysterious power called world origin, nor are they born from another world.

Aleks took on his new identity in this world but also put his original identity from earth in the shadow.

He felt out of place and didn't feel like he would belong.

"That Miranda girl was sweet, perhaps a night to have a woman comfort my bed would make my heart happy."

Aleks sighed.
