Chapter 22 - Frisk

Chapter 22

"As long as you're the one doing it," I said with a smile.

"I'm sure my friends are better at that," She said, pointing at the two men behind me. Now that was a problem.

"Did I mention I was allergic to male touch? I just get goosebumps all over my body, feel like it's breaking down," I informed her of my genuine ailment.

She looked me in the eyes before she said, "It would be better if you cooperate."

"You don't know who I am, do you?" I asked. If she did, she wouldn't be threatening me even if she was righteous as hell. Or maybe heaven.

"No matter who you are, nothing can save you from this," She pointed at the building behind her.

The men behind were about to move when I said, "If you search me without my consent, I will be filing a formal complaint against you and these guys. I'm pretty sure the DA would lose the rightful right to search me if you started an unlawful search on me. What do they call it in your official terms? Oh yeah, a bad stop."

I was a mess when it came to my grades but I wasn't an idiot. When I got arrested the first time, I read as many law books as I could to avoid such a situation. Police could exert force on a person behind a series of laws that don't even exist.

"You're being a smartass with me?" She stepped forward, a frown marred her face as she looked deep into my eyes.

I also leaned forward and sensually whispered close to her, "Either you search me or no one does." I leaned back and said, "Or just get a warrant."

She looked into my eyes before she said, "Turn around."

I smiled and being a model citizen, I complied. I turned around and speared my legs only to meet the ugly expressions of two men.

"Did I tell you I get scared of men with ugly faces?" I said out loud.

"Turn around," She said from behind me, obviously to the men because I was already turned.

The cop duo also complied not before giving me a death stare. The cop chick began with my pockets but a pity I had no back pocket. Or was it? Because my wallet was now in my front pocket. Lucky.

She patted me on the back, shoulders, arms, front, and then my legs.

"You're pretty solid. You work out?" How cute. She was making small talk. She didn't need to engage me though because I myself was a psychology student. Even though I took this course only because the male-to-female ratio in the entire department was 7:93.

"I do it now and then," I replied, playing her game.

"You're built more like a fighter," She said. Yeah, she wasn't much of a psychologist if she was jumping to that on her second question.

"I would never. I wouldn't want to get into trouble after all." I replied, making her realize I knew of her game.

And finally, she came to my front pockets but unfortunately, she didn't go deep enough before she pulled out my wallet. I didn't say anything and let her check it but to my surprise, she didn't know who I was.

"Jacob Conner. Nice name," She remarked. She really didn't know who I was but the same didn't go for the two cops in front of me who turned around to stare at me with their wide eyes.

"Wanna tell me how you made this much cash, Jacob?" The cop chick asked as she took out the three thousand grand in my wallet.

"Tell you what, you keep it along with the wallet. Run a check on me and you will understand. It would be much more easier that way," I said turning to her.

She looked at me straight in the eye but only took the ID and said, "You can get it from Midtown precinct."

She gave me my wallet along with all the money. I smiled and said, "Don't be so shocked when you find out who I am."

It won't come to that and her colleagues would tell her who I was but, I wasn't going to remain here to see what she would do. I wanted that to be a surprise and that surprise to simmer.

I arrived home by twelve. As expected, everyone was asleep. well, almost everyone because when I was making my way to the bedroom, Denver's room's light was on but he was the type to lock the door so there was no use getting in there.

I didn't want to either. I returned to my room and dropped on the bed. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

I once again woke up at dawn, which was after about four hours. I was refreshed though so I went out of the house and for a long run in the area.

Once I had worked up a sweat, I returned home and took a shower. It was still dark outside but I was feeling a little hungry so I whipped myself something quick. It was Saturday so I doubted anyone would be getting up early today but apparently I was wrong when Dad entered the kitchen.

He saw me and asked, "Where were you?"

"I went on a small run," I replied. He wasn't asking about where I was last night so that was something.

"Hmm. How's the car?" He asked next.

"It drives. That's all that matters," I replied as I finished cooking the omelet, setting up the sandwich maker, and applying the rest of the ingredients to the sandwich.

"I see," Was all he said before he added, "And the university?"

"They decided to make me the errand boy," I replied.

"And what did you do?" He asked.

"I wanted to refuse at first but then I saw no reason to. They're trying to find satisfaction by making my life miserable. It would be funny when it wouldn't." I lied. The real reason was the EXP but that wasn't what the old man needed to hear.

"That's good. A man who doesn't cave under pressure makes good decisions," He replied, satisfied with my answer.

It was weird actually. Never in my life before had we had a chat like this. It was mostly him trying to control my life and me trying to rebel. Never a peaceful conversation like this.

"Don't eat too much. After you left, your mother developed the habit somewhere along the time to make breakfast early in the morning," He said and then left.

"Sure," I replied. It didn't matter how much I ate anyway. I was always hungry and not at the same time. I could eat however much was in front of me because the Qi would help break it all down and make it nutritious for me.

Finished with the sandwich, I headed back to the pool area, not the pool but the lawn. I took the lawnmower from the shed, not the electric one because it would make too much noise and I didn't want a complaint from the residents of the house and the neighbors.

I took the manual one which required a little force but worked just fine. And it made the noise a whole lot less. I began to cull the overgrown grass in the lawn. No one in my house was interested in gardening so there was no flower bed or anything to worry about.

After I was done with that, I also cleaned the pool. Just to keep me busy because I really didn't have anything else to do.

Once I was done, and filthy, I took a shower again, and now when I came out, I saw Mom in the kitchen, in the same type of trousers and shirt she had last time but the color was different.

She was cooking dinner so I asked, "Need any help?"

"Oh, sweetie. You surprised me. I thought you would be sleeping," She said, genuine surprise on her face.

"Couldn't sleep," I simply said instead of prolonging the conversation, keeping it just at this point.

"Is everything okay?" she asked.

"Just a little change in the environment," I replied.

"You will soon get used to it," she said before she added, "There's nothing to help at breakfast but if you could wake everyone up, I would appreciate that."

"Sure," I replied and left to carry out her task as much as I wanted to look at her, I was sure she wouldn't be comfortable with it so soon.

And doing it before my class, my secondary one, was unlocked was dangerous so I needed to just keep my image good for now and lay the groundwork. The time to play with them will soon come.

I entered the room closest to me first, Josephine's. As I entered, I felt the chill from the air conditioner. Josephine was under the thick covers, no surprise with how low her air conditioner was set at.

I decided to let her get some of that chill so I pulled the covers off of her only to be surprised to find my sister buck-naked underneath.
