On July 24, 2025, on a rainy day in a German city near the coast, a youth ran down the streets on his way to his apartment. He looked young, probably around 18, standing at 6 foot 4 with a decent build and a striking face. He wore a raincoat, a backpack, and a black cap which was soaked from the rain. As he approached the pedestrian crossing, the cars stopped and let him pass.
The youth then took a shortcut which saved him at least a minute. As he approached the front door of his apartment, he took out his keys and opened the door. The first thing that came into view were the old and plain grey walls of the building. He lived on the 4th floor of an old prefabricated residential building from the 90s.
The first thing he did upon entering his apartment was throw his backpack on the floor and take off his soaked clothes, revealing his brown hair and blue eyes. He then walked through the hallway to the living room. There, on the couch, sat another guy who also looked like he was 17 or 18. He had brown hair and brown eyes, and a decent build which suggested he probably did sports. Next to him sat another youth who looked identical to the one entering the room. It was probably his twin brother. As the first guy entered, he spoke.
"Paul, did you bring the cereals I texted you about?"
As Paul heard him, the look on his face changed from happy to one of contempt.
"No, I did not. Maybe if you called, do you really think I would look at my phone when it was raining like that?" Paul answered with an angered voice, probably annoyed by his twin.
"Oh, I'm Paul, I'm too good to look at my phone," he nagged, obviously trying to annoy his brother. As he finished, the guy next to him laughed, entertained by the quarrel. His name was Thore, and he was a friend of Paul and the other twin, Hannes. Thore was spending the week at their apartment. It was the holidays, and the trio wanted to go to the casino and the beach this week because Thore had turned 18 last week and had never been to the casino before.
It was Thursday, and up to this point, they had been to the casino three times, and all of them had lost money in general. Only one day did one or two of them come out in profit. But Thore lost 150€ on the first day because of playing on slots and was made fun of by the others.
As Paul sat down, another youth entered the room. He also looked like he was 18 or 20. He had brown hair, a beard, and blue eyes. His name was Eric, and he was the roommate of Paul and Hannes. He was often mistaken as the third twin because the three of them did everything together.
"I'm going now, see y'all," Eric said with a sports bag in his right hand.
"Where are you going?" Thore asked, confused, because he thought Eric was going to stay and go to the club with them tonight.
"I'm driving home because I have football training later," Eric answered, ready to leave.
"Okay, bye, see you later," Thore said, fixed on his game.
As Eric left, Paul stood up and went to the kitchen where he wanted to pack away the things he bought.
"Are Max and Justin also coming tonight?" Paul shouted as he was putting the meat in the fridge.
"Yeah, they should be here in a few minutes to pre-drink!" Hannes shouted back, focused on the game he and Thore were playing against each other. They were playing FIFA, a well-known football game all around the world. Paul, on the other hand, made himself a fried egg with toast, a dish he and Thore ate almost every day of the week because of how easy and fast it was to make.
After Paul finished making and eating it, and at the same time watching Hannes lose 5:1 to Thore, he made his way to his room to change his clothes. But the moment he stepped through his door, the world around him changed. It was like time had stopped, and just a moment after, he fell to the ground just like that.
He fainted...
