A guy smaller than them blocked their way. He was wearing glasses and his hair was slick and neatly combed to the back. It even glowed from the sunlight and made Song Yujin wonder in awe, 'Woah, his hair like newly polished shoes! I wonder how many sachets of Kiwi did he use on it.'
Yujin chuckled from his thoughts.
The student guard frowned at him, misunderstanding his light laugh into ridicule, but Song Yujin simply waved his hand to dismiss the misunderstanding, hiding away his goofy grin. He whistled and pocketed his hands as he let his brother Hajun settle the matter.
A few minutes passed and Song Yujin didn't hear any complaints from his foster brother whose hobby is to grumble at everything, he wondered and looked back, only to find Kim Hajun overturning his bag in search of something.
Song Yujin decided to take the matter into his own hands then. He was about to open his mouth to say that they were transfer students and that they hadn't received their school IDs yet.
However, Kim Hajun spoke suddenly.
"One moment, please," he answered politely while rummaging through his bag.
Furrowing his brows at his foster brother's actions, Song Yujin gaped at him, asking in surprise, his voice laced with dread, "We have IDs already?!"
Kim Hajun, "Huh?" His face was confused, looking at Song Yujin.
"And why would you not have? Are you not a student in this school?" the student guard asked seriously. The lens of his eyeglasses gleamed as if showing his strictness and deadly aura. A strand of his neatly combed and probably oiled, hair flicked, as though it pointed at them impatiently.
"We just transferred here. And today is our first day," Song Yujin answered, ignoring the hostility in the student's tone.
"Then, you must have received your ID by now," the student guard answered indifferently.
Song Yujin answered, utterly bewildered, "Huh? No, we don't."
Kim Hajun looked up to him with surprise in his eyes. "What do you mean 'we don't'? We already have an ID. Here!"
Kim Hajun waved the blue card with a blue and white lanyard on Song Yujin's face.
"What?! Why don't I have mine?" Song Yujin asked the latter nervously. He scratched his temple and tried to remember if he received something back then. But to his dismay, his memory was no help at all. He couldn't even remember how the uniform came to him!
"You! Did you check your bag?!" Kim Hajun shouted with bulging eyes.
Song Yujin frantically opened his bag and rummaged inside. He flipped his notebooks and snacks he stashed before leaving but after opening all the zippers in his backpack, he still failed to find his school ID.
"Where the hell did you even put it?" Kim Hajun yelled again, snatching his backpack and searching for it on his own.
"I don't know?" He answered, scratching his head. Kim Hajun glared at him for answering vaguely, "I really don't know! I didn't even know we had them already!"
"It was given with the school uniform, inside the plastic. Mother specifically hung it on the hanger with your uniform after ironing it so you'd see it immediately! Did you not notice something?!"
Song Yujin, "I…did not?"
Kim Hajun, "You…!" He awkwardly looked at the student guard and was ready to ask to spare his companion just this once, but the student guard slightly shook his head at him and spoke.
"I'm sorry but this school is strictly implementing the rule 'No ID, No entry'. I suggest you go back home and get your school ID then come back to school."
"But our house is a twenty-minute drive away from here. He'll be late if he goes back!" Kim Hajun grumbled.
"That's not my problem," the student guard answered coldly.
"Can you let me in just this time? I promise to not forget the ID next time!" Song Yujin used his beautiful puppy eyes to the student, but the latter only grimaced at him and even acted like his going to vomit.
Song Yujin tried harder, he read the name on the student's ID aloud, "Please, handsome brother, Dohyun Sunbae!"
The student guard named Nam Dohyun frowned greatly at the two younger students, he saw his classmate Kim Hajin arrive with them, and from the name on the ID of one of the boys, he could tell they were Kim Hajin's relative.
Hearing them call him 'brother' annoyed him big time, though he couldn't tell why. He clicked his tongue and fixed his glasses by using his middle finger, pushing it up in the middle.
"I can't. Rules are rules. Go back home."
Song Yujin's eyebrow twitched after seeing the way the senior student fixed his glasses.
"You there," Nam Dohyun pointed at Kim Hajun, "If you got your ID then wear it properly and enter. If you don't want to, then get lost, you two are blocking the gate."
Kim Hajun, "What?! You—
Song Yujin tugged on Kim Hajun's collar and dragged him a few steps away from the gate. "Are you trying to throw a punch? Are you nuts?"
Kim Hajun spat, "Tsk! Did you not see the shithead fix his glasses? Whatever did we do? You only forget your ID and he's picking a fight already?!"
"I got it, I got it. You should enter now or you will be late," he fixed the collar he tugged and patted it a few times before letting him go.
Kim Hajun pulled his clothes down unconsciously and wore his bag properly while glaring at the direction of the entrance gate where the senior student continued to filter the students. "And how about you?" he asked afterward.
"What do you mean 'how about me?" Song Yujin patted Kim Hajun's shoulder and continued, "Of course, I'll go back home and get my ID. If I go back now, I would still be able to come in afternoon classes, right?"
Kim Hajun nodded, "Alright. You do that. I'll go inside and wait."
"Sure, sure."
Song Yujin gestured for him to enter now while waving. As soon as the retreating image of his foster brother disappeared from his sight, his eyes landed on Nam Dohyun who turned his head at him and raised his brows.
Song Yujin smiled widely and waved at him too, before whirling away. His hand suspended in the air folded four fingers and left the middle one standing before he walked away. How he wished the latter saw his farewell.
But in fact, Song Yujin had no plans of going back. Why would he go back home just because he forgot his ID and couldn't enter? Is that gate the only way of entry? Surely, he can find another way to enter without going back home!
He scanned the vicinity. The school walls weren't so impossible to climb. Though there weren't ledges to step into, there were trees with large branches protruding above the wall, giving him a chance to swiftly climb over by pulling a branch.
Song Yujin lifted his lean body easily and managed to jump on the top of the wall with only a hand's width. His black sneakers settled on the top of the wall before he jumped down. Luckily, there was no one in the area, or else, he might visit the disciplinary room on his first day of school.
"Oh, yeah! Lucky!" He punched the air and fixed his attire, "Gah!"
Just when he turned around, he was welcomed with sharp eyes and light-colored irises glaring at him. Song Yujin stumbled down in shock. His butt hit the grassy ground and his backpack was pushed to the wall.
Looking up, the student's visage became even more terrifying in his eyes. He was looking down at him, lips pressed in thin lines and face devoid of any emotions. Song Yujin even wondered for a moment if the guy was real or just a doll installed in that area to scare trespassing students like him.
Despite the perilous situation that Song Yujin had gone into, he couldn't help but admire the beauty in front of him. His face was like an art perfectly sculpted by the gods! How could such a man exist?
His eyebrows were drawn perfectly as though it was a stroke from an artist's brush. Thin lips that look sweet yet dangerous, eyes shining like the golden hour, and perfectly defined jawline. Even his hair looks silky and soft!
The unknown student took a small notepad and a pen in his shirt's pocket, then he spoke coldly.
"Name."
Song Yujin, still dazed from being caught by such a beauty, answered, "001-XXXX-XXXX."
