As expected, once they arrived home, Kim Hajin's interrogation which was paused when they were in the car, continued after they entered the house.
Thankfully, their parents weren't home yet. Kim Hajin, being the oldest of them all, but only two years older than them, recited one by one the rules and regulations in the school to her brothers.
The scolding that should only be directed to the disobedient Song Yujin, became an orientation to both him and Kim Hajun, much to the latter's irritation.
"Do you understand? Memorize all of it if you don't want to end up in the disciplinary office, okay?" Kim Hajin ended her speech, eyeing Song Yujin with wide eyes. "Especially you, Yujin-ah. I don't know why the Student Council's vice president was staring at you, but if you get caught by him, I assure you, you'd be spending your punishment with him tailing you the whole day until you finished your penalty."
Song Yujin's face was mixed with surprise and curiosity, "That's the vice president?"
Kim Hajin replied, "Yes, that's the vice president, Yujin-ah! He is the same age as both of you. This school year's student council had been elected before the last school year ended. His older brother ran for the president, and he for the vice president, and they both won. So now, the pair have become more popular.
"His brother, who is the same age as me, is friendly and approachable, while his younger brother, the vice president, is known for his aloof and intimidating presence. He is strict and oversees the implementation of the school rules within the school grounds. So, you better not get on his bad side, or else, your name will be on the list to watch out for in the student bulletin! Got it?!"
Song Yujin nodded obediently. He shuddered at the thought of the same thing happening again. He already had an experience of being followed, so yes, he won't dare to get caught again.
Kim Hajun looked at his brother with disbelief, "What, what? Did you meet the vice president of the student council already?! I heard from the other students that the guy was a recluse! And that he will only come out of his classroom or the council's office when he's on duty catching mice! What the hell did you do? And why the heck is your uniform this dirty and creased?!"
Song Yujin scratched his head and smiled awkwardly, "Oh, eh, ahaha…haha…" his laughter died when the two faces only glared at him more intensely. He gulped and was forced to admit what happened.
Pak!
"Ow! That hurts, Hajun hyung~," Song Yujin grunted after getting slapped by the back. He then voiced out grumpily, "I just told you I fell from a tree. Give me some mercy, will you?"
"Mercy? You want mercy?! Be grateful we're the ones dealing with you here! If Mom and Dad are here, you'll be spanked at that age of yours!" Kim Hajun screamed, fanning his face from the incredulity of that situation.
Kim Hajin sighed and shook her head, giving Song Yujin a strict gaze, ignoring the latter's large and wobbly eyes looking at her pitifully – a habit that Song Yujin always used on their father when he committed some naughty acts when he was younger.
Kim Hajun gaped at his brother, and his hand itched to slap the back of his head at the audacity. However, all their attentions were stolen when they heard a car's engine entering the house gates.
Kim Hajun quickly peeked into the window, his eyes widening upon seeing his parents getting out of the car already. He waved his hand behind and whispered quite loudly, "Quick, quick! Go to your room, asshat! And f*cking change your clothes already!"
Kim Hajin frowned at the way his brother spoke, but she eagerly pushed Song Yujin up the stairs and even helped him carry his bag. Song Yujin snatched the bag from his sister, then he ran to his room before the main door opened.
He could even hear his siblings welcome their parents before he closed the door to his room.
That night, he did all the chores left undone by the helper. Their helper only comes to cook and clean the house in designated hours, but because they ate dinner late, the dishes were left undone.
Song Yujin diligently washed the dishes, even though it was Kim Hajun's turn to clean, then he wiped the table and tidied the kitchen counter, even though it was Kim Hajin's job.
His foster mother, Seo Hari, even went to him and touched his forehead with a frown. "Strange, you don't have a fever, why are you acting like this?"
Kim Jonghyun, his foster father burst out laughing in the corner. He wiped his teary eyes and answered his wife jokingly, "Maybe their new school finally teaching them to mature a bit."
Song Hajin, who was busy shining the countertop frowned. Why are they acting like he swallowed some pills that magically turned him into a diligent child?! He has always been diligent!
Diligent in video games, diligent in eating, diligent in acting pitifully after getting caught in trouble, and diligent in doing house chores! They just didn't see it when he was the one on duty!
After finishing his work, he went upstairs and searched for his ID.
'There you are!' He exclaimed inwardly when he saw the lost item under the blanket. It must have been covered after he took the clothes from the hanger and threw them on the bed when he was changing.
Before he went to sleep, he texted Kim Hajun if there was any assignment for tomorrow's classes, and the latter soon replied with a simple 'none'.
Song Yujin sighed in relief. He closed his eyes and hoped that tomorrow, he wouldn't be imprinted by a chick by the name of SC's vice president, and followed him around again.
However, fate seems to always have its way of f*cking him over.
As soon as he entered the class, following Kim Hajun from behind, his skin already felt a familiar chill. His eyes were then drawn to the man seated on the last chair of the first row, meeting those light-colored irises that seemed to dig into his deepest secrets.
Song Yujin was momentarily stunned. His obsidian eyes were unmoving. Like a magnet drawn into steel, he felt like he was pulled into those pools of sharp, unexpressive, cold eyes.
"Song Yujin!"
An irritated voice snapped him from that mysterious interaction. He blinked and turned to Kim Hajun who was tugging on the strap of his bag already.
"What are you doing? You're blocking the way!" Kim Hajun exclaimed. He looked behind Song Yujin and flashed an apologetic smile at the two girls standing behind Song Yujin.
They seemed intimidated by the tall new guy in front of them, so they couldn't voice out their complaints.
Song Yujin immediately moved away, bowing at the two and mumbling, "Sorry, sorry."
Kim Hajun whispered, "What's wrong with you? What are you gawking there for?"
Song Yujin gulped and furtively pointed his index finger on his side, then he anxiously whispered back, "That's the guy, the chick…I mean, the vice president."
